That is iceman. Quicksilver always is depicted with white hair like magneto. So there is no way that is quicksilver. And no that is not north star either. He has white in his outfit.

If you watch X-Men evolution they sort of updated his abilities.....there, he can technoform his own gear.....basically generate bionic limbs and tools. I'd luv to see him team up with Reed Richards in the MCU bc they both love making portals to other dimensions.....that end up inviting chaos.

@@Maurgrym but they actually have to follow the laws of thermodynamics....gravity ....Forge can just disregard basic laws of physics......he also has no need to actually understand how his inventions work......he just thinks of what he wants to do, and poof, he intuitively dreams up the blueprints

Dazzler is also in the X-Men arcade. SO I think that's why she is being referenced.

As a 90s kid i recommend not only the original X-men series but also others like 90s Spiderman , fantastic 4 , Gargoyles , Batman the animated series and another good non comic cartoon was a dope show called Mummies Alive. 90s cartoons was filled with some gems , definitely the golden era of cartoons imo.

Also 90s Hulk, Iron Man and Silver surfer. The Silver Surfer cartoon was dark and very comic accurate. Heavy dose of Thanos in it too.

These double episodes are amazing really packed a nostalgic punch. The warp pipe effect when they went into motendo was great among other little nods in the episode. Storms despair as she fails to conjure up winds ,totally palpable they reallly cant miss with this series as far as im concerned.

As a Different World fan, That easter egg was also a nod to the new cast members replacing some of the actors who left in season 2.

The guy in blue in the intro standing next to Forge is Iceman. It's a clip from the original series updated to current animation.

That was Iceman from the cold comfort episode from the TAS. and that was Northstar in the different world reference. that was Strong Guy, Madrox is multiple man's last name, Jamie Madrox.

My elementary school had skating night every month. At this rink my three favorite games were... X-Men, Simpsons, TMNT. We spent quarters bro... But nothing compared to what the kids are losing from their couch now a days😂. Thanks Reagan.

Anyone remember how to get out of the level on Sega Genesis X-men last level before AsteroidM when you are stuck in the Mojoworld Controlled Danger Room ? That was insane. Never seen that before in any video game ever. Thought of it after playing the level 50 times.

This was another great episode! I loved seeing the beginning of the "LifeDeath" story for Strom, and I can't wait for part 2 of this mini-arc! I can already tell this emotional character exploration of Storm is going to be one of my favorite mini arcs in the entire X-Men animated series franchise by the time part 2 completes the story. The "Motendo" stuff was also super fun and creative! Revisiting some of the greatest highlights from this iteration of the X-Men in 16-Bit from like an old X-Men arcade game spotlighting their greatest moments was super cool and fun! I also loved having a Jubilee episode because she's one of my personal favorite members of the X-Men! Having it be her birthday was also a really nice way to explore how far she's come since episode 1 of the original series! I'm also really starting to warm up to Roberto. It's been nice to see the world of the X-Men through his eyes as a newcomer to this family. 👀🎆 Overall, X-Men 97 continues to be my favorite thing Marvel has made on Disney Plus! 8/10 episode this week! 🙌🏽🌟✨️

Literally seeing MOJO with the crazy eyes was terrifying , but yeah it was still cool to see jubilee get her focus episode And even her original voice actor Alyson Court returning too

Did anybody else get major SS Gogeta Stardust Breaker vibes when both Jubilee's did that finishing move ? So well animated, loving how this is going & looking so far 🫡❤ Also im 35 & remember having the OG X-Men Children of the Atom game, me & my pops used to play that all the time

Just fun fact for me personally, before I actually watch the show as a kid, I always thought Magneto was the bosses of the Sentinels (they both wear red headgear). In the arcade game, in the opening cut scene you can see him using his power to carry 2 sentinels. And you fight with a bunch of sentinels, but he was the Final Boss???

The guy in the blue suit in the new scene of the intro is wearing Iceman’s costume from that classic episode so that maybe who that is. Also I believe that’s Northstar in the background of the A Different World segment. Also a lot of it is seemingly inspired by Konami’s classic X-Men the Arcade game especially when Jubilee and Sunspot are fighting the lizard men in the Savage Land stage. Loved this episode so much!

In the show “a different world”, Marissa Tomei came out on that show, she plays “Aunt May” in the Newer Spider Man movies. So there was a marvel connection

When Storm and Forge were on the balcony and he says to her “you of all people know how fast the weather can change” -that line was from X-men 3 The Last Stand with Storm and Professor X walking down the mansion hallway.

The cartridge artwork is a mix between mutant apocalypse and 1993 x-men for sega genesis. The console is definitely a super nintendo and sega genesis hybrid

The mini sentinels are more from the Old school XMen Arcade game which was hella dope! Wolverine had the brown suit and Jubilee wasnt born yet.

It's not Jack Frost it's Northstar from Alpha flight

Very cool to see an experienced adult version of jubilee would fight like Bakugo and Mina ashido combined Edit: and the fact that they use a RasenShuriken / spirit bomb combo to win hahah

There are a couple details I've noticed that were missed. 1. In the intro on episode 4, Jean Gray's hair is in a ponytail not down like it was in the first three episodes. I'm pretty sure just to show that this is the actual Jean Gray and not the clone. 2. When the older jubilee was sharing her power with her younger self, I got a vibe of Naruto Shippuden. In Naruto Shippuden, Naruto clones would help Naruto create a strong attack called rasengan. I don't know if that was intentional but it was pretty neat to see some similarities.

The guy in blue by Wolverine was Iceman. It’s was a great episode in one of the seasons where he was in love with Polaris which she was in love with Havok.

I'm a bit surprised that Longshot (other than on the character select screen next to Magik) didn't really appear. Given how Jubilee was interested in him in the second episode he appeared in.

I was born 1984. Children of the Atom was amazing back in the 90’s!!! Getting to play as Storm! And then there was the side scroller xmen game! I always played Storm or Nightcrawler. Then there was the genesis xmen game. I played that all the time. Such great games. Might need to go pick up an xmen game for my switch now.

The bulk of the game references are clearly to the 6 player Konami X-Men beat-em-up arcade game, not COTA which is a 1v1 fighting game. Even the animation and graphics mimic the earlier beat-em-up, as well as the enemies such as the smaller Sentienals, the green dinosaur beasts from the Savage Land, etc . Mojo even mentions Dazzler, a reference to one of the characters in that game.

Something I noticed about the end credits part with the computer and mouse, selecting various X-Men to get their powers, etc. I noticed that one of the boxes in the set in the upper-right corner was already selected. I wonder if they will put Charles' profile there when he returns.

Talk about nostalgia. The X-Men arcade game and console games back in the day. Good times.

More details than other breakdowns, but also more mistakes and dunnos. The man in dark blue is Iceman. "Jack Frost" is actually Northstar. The character next to Magik on the select screen is Longshot. "Madrox" is actually Strong Guy. Edit: I blame the person wrongly insisting in the comments that Iceman is Quicksilver for having had the wrong speedster's name on my mind and only realizing it right after I had already hit post. And I had misremembered which spot on the select screen you were confused about. 😅

every episode is stoking me even more for what's to come: Deadpool and Wolverine, season 2 and 3 of this series, X-Men in live action in the MCU (with Feige involvement again), and I think I'm gonna start reading X-comic books again (past and present) and collect the awesomest action figures too (feel like a teenager again)

The video game sequence of levels and the way she was fighting in those levels I think they were trying to follow the story arc from TMNT Turtles in Time, especially the fight scene and the cut screen to the next level.

I'm old enough that I remembered when marvel vs Capcom came out. Me n my friends was in our local arcade playing that game heavy!!!

Ororo lost her powers for three-plus years in the original Uncanny series in the 80s, and those stories are easily among the best X-world stories ever told. . .it made her realize she was larger than her powers, and she became expertly adept in a multitude of hand-to-hand combat disciplines as a result . . .she survived the original Mutant Massacre / Morlock genocide without her elemental powers while leading BOTH the Morlocks & X-men simultaneously after defeating in combat BOTH of their leaders -- Scott & Callisto -- WITH NO ELEMENTAL POWERS . . .which was really wow at the time to us fans in the 80s. . .again that spanned THREE YEARS & FOUR MONTHS VIA MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS IN REAL TIME lol (issues 185-225). . . much of the fan base just came to accept that her powers were indeed gone for good after a few years, as hard as that is to imagine now. . . ! "LifeDeath: A Love Story" is only two issues total in it's official arc (& the issues were published over a year apart from each other as 186 & 198), yet it's evocative range remains breathtaking in scope & magnitude imho . . .I am truly amazed with how deferentially they've presented it -- however abridged -- thus far, as I find it to be one of the most vital & compelling short works ever presented in the comics medium :)

btw the original voice of jubilee is also the voice of lydia in the beetlejuice cartoon

X-men: Children of the Atom was my favorite game to play at the arcades. I got so good at it that I was beating every challenger and people just waited for me to be done with my break.

As someone who was terrified of Mojo in the 80s when reading his appearances as a tween back then (early 1st Excalibur series is whoa), I was absolutely floored by the character's portrayal in this episode -- WOW what an accurate depiction!!!

love the video as always keep up the amazing work. The motendo system basically was a straight up sega genesis console. the name is made obvious of course, but Jubilee having that console make sense. It would have been the cheaper option in the late 90s. Before the 2000s it seemed like kids were happy with what ever system had the most games not what was the newest

I couldn’t think of Emma Frost’s name when I saw her while I was watching the intro to the episode in which I NEVER skip. NEVER! Sorry for the caps. I didn’t even realize that was the Hellfire Club. Shame on me. I should’ve picked up on that and they showed the Phoenix Force. I had a big smile on my face after that. Another solid episode!

It doesn't look like it's out of Children of the Atom when she starts the arcade fighting... that's a reference to the X-men Arcade Beat 'em Up. Children of the Atom was a 1 v 1 fighter

The video game levels are a very close reference to the xmen arcade game, they had savage land level and final boss magneto. Dazzler was a character in that game, which Mojo references also.

I remember that 6 player arcade game of xmen, and you can choose characters like cyclops, wolverine, storm, colossus, nightcrawler, and dazzler

They didn't have to do me like that with the dial-up noise 😭 loved the Matrix references tho the series has not let me down at all yet, the OG series was my childhood

i was hoping you would mention the part where storm and forge was eating and then something was watching storm on forges ceiling. you can see the glowing eyes abd when it cuts of and then back to storm its gone

8:14 the front cover of the game is not only a homage to the SNES mutant apocalypse game, but it's actually a mix between that and the cover of the original Genesis X-Men game (just another mix easter egg of the genesis and snes era).
