Hi Charlie ! Rogue was 16 or less when Mistique found her say another 3 months she took him to see Magneto and he was more or less like Xavier so they didnt get it on romantically because ....dude ! only 16 cmon ! One line you forgot to mention is when Cable says "Not again." Which probably means he's been trying to reverse the Genosha attack more than once. If that's the case, he'll probably find a way to stop it successfully in a future episode or season.

I never realised before this episode how much I took Gabit for granted. I always liked him and specifically his relationship with Rogue, because she was always my favorite character, but he was one of those characters that I never really saw past how they complimented another well until this episode, and then we lose him. Honestly makes me want to go back and watch the classic series to appreciate him more.

As someone who watch the animated series back in the 90's and a fan of the comics for years. Gambits death really hit hard. The names Gambit, remember it. Is a call back to the first time the X-Men fight the sentinels in the animated series. For those who don't know. Oh, and Rogue saying, Remy I can't feel you. Honestly, made me cry.

You have to keep in mind, Leech was beside Magneto. He can turn off mutant powers temporarily, maybe that's why the Tri Sentinel taught the threat was "eliminated". Lol, Edit: Neutralized to Eliminated. He said "neutralized" with Gambit. "Eliminated" was with Magneto. Thanks to everyone who pointed that out. ;)

Honestly as a long time fan of Gambit, this episode honors his character like Fox live action never did. No one will ever forget Gambit again! RIP

The Wild Sentinel is like a Quintesson version of Tri-Sentinel. Actually, this episode seems like the animated series adaptation of the Orchis massacre of Krakoa during the Hellfire Gala in the recent X-Men comics. The ruling council resembles the Quiet Council of Krakoa of which Magneto, Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost & Nightcrawler were members of. Moira (also in the the Genoshan council in X-Men 97) was revealed to be a mutant in that series & was working with Prof X & Magneto to set up Krakoa as a mutant paradise. Mr Sinister was revealed to be one of the secret antagonists. Gambit's "One Last Trick" in Rise of the Powers of X #1 is pretty similar to his sacrifice here (instead of charging himself up, he charges the Sentinel up). Looking at the title of the last 3 episodes, my belief is that Magneto actually survives, & will fall back to his old belief, as articulated in the title. Either that or he is truly dead, & it's Cyclops who takes up Magneto's old cause because he snaps from all the trauma he's had to deal with (Red Cyclops perhaps?) & I believe Gambit's likely to come back as the new Horseman Death in future seasons. Gambit's crazy powerful. The New Son series demonstrated that. Am glad they showcased his potential here.

Gambit has been my favorite since the early 90s. Finally getting to see his mutant skills on full display like that was a long overdue dream come true. His agility and athleticism are SICK!! My guy backflipped off a speeding motorcycle he launched using his legs and perfectly hitting his target before landing without a scratch.

Damn man. Gambit’s been my favorite from the original series. Hopefully he comes back somehow.

Gambit is a badass regardless of powers, imo the writers did him right this episode!

In X-Men The Animated Series in the 90s, Cable went back in time and kidnapped Wolverine and managed to make an antidote to destroy a virus that Apocalypse made. Before destroying the virus, Cable said : “The names Cable, remember it, Apocalypse!” Coincidently, Cable's first appearance in X-Men the animated series was in Genosha when he first met Gambit who escaped from the Slave Island. Cable helped Gambit unlock his collar which allowed him to rescue Storm and Jubliee and the other mutants as well. And now, Chris Potter, the voice actor of Gambit in the original Xmen series is now the voice of Cable. It all comes full circle.

When Magneto and Rogue were dancing the music is very 90s. Sounded like Ace of Base.

Kurt (Nightcrawler) and Alison (Dazzler) were dancing with Exodus, not Azazel. There was also a possible sighting of Bastion walking through the crowd, who may have been recognized by Magneto.

I have been waiting patiently for a Gambit movie. I have always liked him. You are so right about the incredible fight scenes in this episode. And, OMG, the writers are blowing it out of the water so far. Let's see if that can bleed over to the rest of the MCU.

This is the best X-Men episode of the entire run to date for me. The drama, the animation, and the action were all so powerful. On a side note, I believe that was Banshee and not Havok next to Moira MacTaggert.

That Nightcrawler animation was the best ever!!!

The emotions, the animation, the pacing, the buildup and of course, the action were all exceptional. We were basically shown the Hellfire Gala, E for Extinction and that psychic affair between Scott and Emma in New X-Men with a twist. The Jean that we got on this episode reminded me so much of X-Men Evolution Jean, a total psychic powerhouse. She didn't have any action scenes in this one, but man, that one scene with Wolverine clearly showed how she outclasses everyone, even other omega-level mutants. She literally telekinetically split the lake and was holding it that way while she was telepathically sifting through her memories hovering and then telekinetically levitated Wolverine. It looked like she was doing a series of house chores nonchalantly. The kiss, the Astral Plane affair and the argument between her and Scott afterwards were all just icing on the cake. They're soap-like moments that make X-Men stories truly stand out. We're still on the 5th episode and it already felt like a finale. I hope this show continues on this track so that it can bring us the best adaptations of stories from the 2000s until the present.

This one episode was better than all X-Men movies combined!

Of course he is. That wasn’t cables first time coming back to this situation. Listen to what he says again. Might have been his first time talking to his mom, but not his first time coming back to this event by what he said. When his band alerts him, he says no no , not again. So I’m pretty sure he’s been here before. I doubt the not again is because of future attacks. From a time traveler, he probably came back again to find another way

maybe thats the meaning for the last 3 episodes "Tolerance is Extinction" . maybe they can't be accepted by the UN and become Tolerated. change the past so Genosha is never seen as part of the UN. that way Mutant's aren't gathered in such a Mass like that. it was a trap.

When magneto was talking with the genosha council Emma frost n Sebastian Shaw had drinks on the table in crystal glasses... one had a drip of condensation flow down the side of the glass.... it looked remarkably like the M'kraan crystal when it was split by D'ken n it consumed him.... could D'ken return.... is that how, why or when Prof xavier eventually returns. Great return for x-men... sets the mcu up for possibilities.... Great vid analysis as always Charlie.

Magneto isn't dead. He was with Leech. Leech negates mutant powers. When the Sentinel says 'Omega Level threat eleminated, I bet you any money that's Leech's doing, essentially shielding Magneto. Gambit on the other hand... he's gone

They could not have pulled this episode off in the 90s back on a Saturday morning. This was amazing! “REMEMBER IT!” So many emotions after this episode and my fav, Kurt Wagner is back!

Reminds me of the Bishop/Cable episodes from Season 2... Bishop went back and stopped a mutant virus but that lead to the virus messing up Cable's timeline so Cable went back to stop Bishop (they ended up letting Wolverine get infected so his body could heal from the damage) Feels like they're gonna go back to before the attack and change things is what I'm saying (maybe into the future before the Godzilla Sentinel gets sent maybe?)

This show is so dope. I used to watch these shows every Saturday morning and now I remember watching old episodes on KZread in 2007 when my internet was still very slow LOL I still can't believe they remade the show Im so pumped for the future of this series and hopefully they pull the series or story line into live action MCU.

How ironic that Chris Potter who voiced Gambit in the original series is now voicing cable in this episode

21:48 he also said that phrase in the 90s series... like when he flew the minijet into apocalypse. I used to say it frequently with my cousin back then, and also when XMen vs SFand MvC2 came out.

I can't believe they fully just did New X-Men. Considering eps 1 and 2 were 60s xmen and claremont era 70s/80s episodes respectively, and 3 was a 90s inspired episode, the fact that this was a 2000s inspired episode can't be a coincidence

I’m not crying you are crying… this was the best episode of the season thus far. The dialogue, the shots, Gambit has the best moves. So many storylines in this episode. Loved it

I think this is the start of radicalized Cyclops. That leech used his powers on Magneto and that's why Master Mold doesn't saw a threat. And that somehow, a Master Mold will remember being killed by Gambit in another timeline.

The amount of respect this group of writers and animators are doing with my child hood heroes is unbelievable. Cyclops, Storm, Gambit and Magneto have actually gotten their chance to shine and cut loose. Keep it coming!!!🙅🏾‍♂️❤️❤️

That "kaiju" you referenced is called the Tri-Sentinel. It first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man during his brief stint as Captain Universe. Even with the Uni-Power it took every ounce of strength Spider-Man had to destroy the Tri-Sentinel. How are they going to explain the Tri-Sentinel's existence on the show? To my knowledge, the X-Men never encountered it in the comics.

What a great, & also great turns & twists this episode was. I never thoguht or imaginaed Gambit would go out ths ways. & I also believe it is temporarly, & Magento is still alive too. Great call back when they played the song Happy Nation. So much Great Nostalgia. Espically people like me from the same generation :) Can't wait ot see the continuation of both hthsi epsiode & Storm's next week :)

The Godzilla Master Mold is actually called a Wild Sentinel, and its not from the future

I am actually blown away by not only the S Tier quality of this episode, but everything in between too. I'm still trying to process everything that just happened. "The names Gambit.....Remember it" THEY TOOK OUR BOY!!!!

The moment Gambit was impaled, I just knew a detonation was on the way. This whole episode reminds me of Invincible episode 7 (season 2) with the animation budget scene. I was paying attention to all the lipsync in the episode because of it. All the budget went towards the last 8 minutes or so and it was spectacular 👏🏿👏🏿

The song playing while Magneto and Rogue were dancing to was by Ace of Base if im correct. That group was well known in the 90s for their hit "All that she wants" that wasn't the exact song playing, but that artist jus reminded me of how it really IS 1997, 1998 feel.

This episode exceeded my expectations!! I still can’t believe they killed Gambit like that! Him taking advantage of the moment though to destroy the mastermold and his line, probably the biggest sacrifice in the new season of the show and of the show over all!! God,then at the end when Rouge said she couldn’t feel him! Heartbreaking! I don’t think Gambit will come back immediately from whatever time travel stuff Cable does but I definitely do hope Gambit comes back somehow eventually!!

They better bring my boi Gambit back 😢😔

X men 97 has been on fire, love every episode! And as much of a tear jerking episode, I know everything will be fixed…when Cable said “Not again” means this keeps happening and he’s trying to find a way to stop that future. 😉

I loved the dramatic, love/turmoil between Rogue and Remy, Madelyn/Jean/ Scott drama aswell and Magneto’s Train whip moves on Master Mold. This episode was legit shocking ! The editing and lack of score in the background was amazing and saddening.!the last line by Rogue!😭😭 Man Gambit fans are gonna be so sad Mon Amie
