🤓 ACTHSHUALLY it was his family who claim that’s what he said. Since he was signed on for multiple movies, any portrayal of Black Panther in MCU he was contractually obligated under, his family/estate would still get paid. If he planned it that way knowing he was sick, fine I probably would have done the same. But it’s not accurate to say we know for sure HE said this.

Yeah I'm a lil mixed on this. And its crazy because if this was years ago and you told me Black Panther was getting a trilogy, I'd be going crazy for this. After the last movie though, it kinda ended for me. T'Challa was gone, they killed off his mother, Shuri took up the mantle, and the overall vibe just felt like I watched the end of a journey. I know they teased the young T'Challa with his son, which could be decent, but thats about it for now. I'm not SUPER excited about seeing a teen Black Panther.

@Cilent__ Chadwick's death had nothing to do with it for me. The fact of the matter is, t'challa the character died for good too. And not just that. His mom died, and shuri just wasn't convincing enough of a lead to me, nor was she the ideal candidate to be black panther (comics or not. Although even in the comics she technically wasn't the ideal candidate). And for a movie called Black Panther, we didn't get a black panther until the end of the movie. The overall story of it just felt like I was watching the end of something. I thought the movie was still pretty decent given the circumstances, so it's not really about giving them a pass or not to me, but that doesn't change what the final product gave.

The entire story was also a direct result of Chadwick passing and them having to essentially scramble to rewrite the sequel to a series of movies that were already completely planned out for years.

@Cilent__ You're not understanding what I'm saying. I understand the movie was a direct result of Chadwick's passing. That's the most obvious part about the movie. I'm saying my feelings on the result of it and doing a 3rd movie have nothing to do with his passing. Shuri is just not that interesting, compelling, or likable as black panther. Even if Chadwick was still alive playing the character, it wouldn't change the fact that shuri isn't a great black panther. She wasn't a good one even in the comics, and they have nothing to do with Chadwick. She's ok at best. I knew they were gonna go with her, but they didn't have to. If they gave the mantle to a better person, then it wouldn't be an issue. Doesn't matter if they were originally meant to be bp or not. I'm not expecting them to be Chadwick's t'challa level good. And them scrambling to rewrite the story doesn't change the fact that what they rewrote felt like the end of the series. Sure, it may be impressive given the circumstances, but that doesn't change what the final product was.

Rip Chadwick. He knew how important King Tchalla son of King Tchaka was as a character. Tchalla son of Tchalla, that’s a made up character we don’t want. he was filming while he was sick. Tchalla should have had many more movies before 2018, He’s that big, he’s the African version of Batman in the comics, he should be treated as such in the movies. Chadwick would have wanted Tchalla to be recasted and his brother Derek said so as well #recastTchalla

With all the time since Boseman's passing, Marvel's had PLENTY of opportunity to have recasted T'Challa with another good actor. By now, the public would have acclimated to the change. All of those storylines they were building throughout Marvel's earlier movies previous to the release of the first Black Panther movie would have been continued. The actor died;not the character.

For me Michael B Jordan was incredible in Black Panther, if there was only one person with the charisma to replace Boseman was him, the actress player BP sister was amazing in her character and she already represented a genuinely ultra-smart woman in Marvel Comics ( before Marvel movies made every single female teenager in the movie into geniuses ) The black panther is a huge shoe to fit and only someone with the acting ability of Jordan can possibly try fill that void

Shuri was not ready. It was rushed (in the actual storyline) but its was so wonderful seeing Namor which is my favorite character. I remember asking my uncle to read the FF over and over again because he wouldn't let me touch the comics. Lol now* we just click a button ✅

Great breakdown -- just sad Marvel couldn't recast T'Challa properly and go from there, tho. Easily accomplished via the Multiverse: Go get Aldis Hodge and make him BP closer to comics version and bring him in via a time anomaly, to where he's stuck in current BP universe and can't get back. Also would bring Angela Bassett back as his version's Ramonda, which would be a great wrinkle for Shuri to have to deal with (Mom is her "mom" but really isn't her mom), since it would be revealed that Shuri was the one who messed with time and ancestral plane in trying to bring T'Challa and her mom back. Both T'Challa and Ramonda have to learn to live in this reality by the end of the film and assume their proper roles in this iteration of Wakanda -- all while dealing with the Big Bad of the movie (whoever that is). And kill off the T'Challa kid somehow, since his story really doesn't make too much sense, anyway.

Came here to say the same thing!! Marvel fumbled the bag on not having MBJ as a major part of the franchise. I wouldn’t even mind if they just kept him as Killmonger. Best villain in the MCU in my opinion

It's great that Marvel is looking to do more BP and I hope they keep it separate from the other Avengers for a bit because BP has SOO Much history to delve into on its own. I'd like to see a Falcon thing where BP not only gives him a new uniform but they test it and talk about things.

If they don’t recast I’m not wasting my time on this. The only good thing about the last movie was the tribute which would have been good if they had recast too. And as far as the X-men go do we know they are recasting all of these characters? I assume they were but I’m not so sure now it’s gonna be hard to make an X-Men movie with six or seven main characters fully recast. They’re not gonna have the luxury of building them out individually like they did with the avengers

Chadwick Boseman will always be the Black Panther, but they could've done Shuri Black Panther in the What If series. I mean, they basically showed that they were replacing her at the end of her own movie with the reveal of T'Challa's son, who is named after him. They should've just re-casted him then so they wouldn't have had to figure out how to replace him later.

Just revive the real T'Challa. Utilize magic, science or the multiverse if you have to. Redo Sub-Mariner as well.

I still think they should have recasted the role. And I don’t feel Chadwick would have disagreed with it. He only got a single film. And the sequel was awful. I know Shuri got the suit in the comics but it just didn’t work imo

Chadwick's graceful elegance and awesome acting made the character of Black Panther, but I'm curious to see what direction they go in BP3.

So now that Mike Colter's series, Evil, is ending we can bring him back as Luke Cage 🤞

I don't mind if they make his son have a relationship with storm. They'd have to time jump a lil bit

if Coogler truly is going to handle a pre-Secret Wars Marvel Reboot X-Men outting, I pray he does good with this. there's a lot of hype with the X-Men now due to X-Men '97, and the movies aren't in the best place right now. there could be other directors they're considering for the X-Men movie, but I'm assuming they're talking to Coogler first or just now due to having a good working relationship with him over other directors right now as far as being open to the suggestions and direction of one another.

I reject that new character as a T'Challa recast. Name him anything you want. Unless *T'Challa* is the primary character of Black Panther, I'm not interested in supporting it. No other superhero franchise had to go through this non sense. Characters get recast. Hello Thunderbolt Ross.

there's nothing like the magically aging kids on TV and in the movies. Nice to hear there will be a Black Panther 3 movie afterall. Of course we don't know when it will be released, do we? As for the spiritual ancestors to give advice to Black Panther Shuri or young T'Challa, there is always King T'Chaka or any of the other precious kings, John Kani (and his son) are alive and well.
