Previously unknown Hugh Jackman, essentially a theatre musical actor, became an instant movie star here. He's so good as is the entire cast lead by the great Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen.

While the favouritism towards Wolverine in these films is sometimes understandable, the big problem with the X-Men films is that instead of being ensemble stories, they often felt like "Wolverine and others" stories.

12:45 Wolverine is a mutant. His abilities are his healing factor, super strength, keen senses of smell and hearing, and he has bone claws. When the Adamantium bond with his bones, he gain durability and obviously has metal claws now. However, since he has been through torture during the Weapons program, he has this thing called berserker rage. This is where he's at his most dangerous state where he ignores his mortality and all pain. 🙏🏽💪

So all the abilities Wolverine displays are natural to him, including his claws. The only thing the experiment did was graft the adamantium onto his skeleton, including the natural, bone claws he already had. Although they did augment the claws by making them longer and much more blade-like than their original form.

45:15 True. However, one thing you probably didn't know is that Spider-Man, the X-Men and Fantastic Four were actually Marvel's IP superhero characters. The Avengers weren't as popular as them. So when Kevin Fiege was starting the MCU, it was a big risk for him to rely on D list heros/characters like Iron Man, Captain America to be the new faces of the MCU. But it worked out, and now the Avengers are just as popular as the X-Men. So glad the rights isn't an issue anymore. The only character Marvel doesn't have the full rights to is Spider-Man. Fortunately, Sony is sharing the character. 🙏🏽💪

  • @marcellousnguyen187

It's also kind of sad back then because some people keep saying that, "X-Men and Fantastic Four shouldn't return to Marvel," or "Marvel doesn't have anymore good stories from the comics to share. Should have ended after Endgame." Like no, Endgame was pretty basic, and the Infinity Gauntlet story is just a taste for way better stories in the Marvel comics. Plus, way better villains than freakin Thanos. No offense to people who are fans of him, but man Thanos is trash compare to great villains like Doctor Doom etc. Not to mention, since Marvel has the rights to all their characters again, they can explore tons of great interections. For instance, Wolverine and Captain America are best friends who fought in World War II. Not to mention the Weapon X program Wolverine was part of is the super soldier program Captain America was in. Wolverine is the tenth and Captain Americai is the first. Spider-Man and Human Torch are best friends in the comics, and we can finally see that in the future. The biggest one of all, some people don't know this, but Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are Magento's children. The MCU had to unfortunately retcon their connection to Magento in back than because because the rights shenanigans. Fortunately, that's no longer an issue, so Marvel can change it back. Regardless, I'm glad that's not an issue anymore, and we can finally see these interactions in the future! 👏

She said that they just kept giving her wine to make it "not quite so bad" and that she was nearly always at least buzzed when shooting scenes as a result.

34:02 - A wolverine is a vicious animal native to parts of Canada, and northern parts of the U.S. and Alaska; also Nordic countries of Europe, and throughout western Russia and Siberia. Also called a "mountain cat", they reportedly have in insatiable appetite. It's kind of ironic though, because their nature is more scavenger than hunter. Though they way they depict the Marvel character Wolverine, they make it seem more like a predatory animal.

45:14 Yes. Also, I'm not sure if you know this Achara, but Stan Lee's first Marvel comic was the Fantastic Four. They were the first superheroes that were relatable. Which later gave him the idea to create Spider-Man and the X-Men. Wolverine was also once a villain. He was the Hulk's nemesis. But he eventually became a hero and join the X-Men and Avengers later on. Plus, Wolverine and Captain America both fought in World War II. Not to mention the Weapon X program Wolverine was forced to be part of is the super soldier program Captain America was in. Spider-Man and the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four are best friends in the comics. The biggest one of all, some people don't know this, but Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are actually Magento's children. That's why it was screwed up that Marvel didn't have the rights to all their characters because the MCU had to improvise majority of the stories to make sure they didn't step kn anyone studios toes. Therefore, retconning Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's connection to Magento and so much more. Regardless, besides Spider-Man I'm so satisfied that Marvel has the rights to all their characters again!! 👏

@@markosmatrozos4175 Some people didn't know, unfortunately, because some fans who only know about the MCU didn't even know that X-Men, Blade, and the Fantastic Four were Marvel. But yeah, Magento is Scarlet Witch's biological father. Marvel retcon it because they didn't have the right's to use the mutant characters. So they changed their comicbook origin, so the twins can be in the MCU. Fortunately, their going to change it back later on! 👏

Just like Jean Grey stated most people's mutations happen right around puberty, 11-12 years of age... Their powers sometimes matches their personalities, but not all the time.... Most Mutants are Psychic and can control things with their minds, while others are Kinetic, but the worst ones are the ones who cannot control their powers, and who have it PHYSICALLY DISPLAYED ON THEM like Cyclops and Mystique... And all mutations are progressive the more they rely and use their powers the STRONGER that power gets...

*Fun fact;* Canonically in the comics, At a time when Rogue had joined Magnetos group, The Brotherhood (Of Evil Mutants), she was in a battle with (Carol Danvers) Captain Marvel, and permanently absorbed all of her super strength, and most of her flying ability, putting Captain Marvel into a long term coma. (effectively taking Carol's superman like O.P abilities out of the equation, for many years. Taking care of the whole, "why bother to send anybody else into the fight, when you have her"? issue) And from then on, Rogue was able to actually be a fighter in the stories, instead of hanging back, hoping for a chance to be able to touch someone 😁😎 (maybe the MCU will use that plotline some day😆)

While I wouldn't say that this movie is my favourite X-Men movie or anything, I do still appreciate how, even back then, in the early 2000s, the film still kickstarted the superhero movie craze and indeed showed people the blockbuster/cinematic potential of superheroes but just in a more grounded universe which honestly works for the most part. Even though I wished we could've seen the X-men in this movie in their classic colourful outfits representing their identities, really focusing on members other than Wolverine all the time and going on exciting adventures, I do very understand that a lot of the stuff from the comics would've been pretty overwhelming to translate back in the early 2000's especially when superheroes weren't taken as seriously as they are today. Thankfully, we have amazing shows like the current ongoing X-Men 97 show that really shows the amazing potential of the franchise that FOX barely scratched the surface of, not to mention the upcoming Deadpool 3. I also admire how they show the grim reality of Magneto's past in that gut-wrenching opening.

She now plays Commander Una Chin-Riley aka Number One on the Star Trek prequel Strange New Worlds. Like Rebecca's character Mystique, Commander Chin-Riley is more than meets the eye. In some ways her career path is almost the reverse of Patrick Stewart who came to international acclaim playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard on the Star Trek: The Next Generation. Little correction his original abilities did include the claws aswell as his healing factor. What they did was graph adimantium metal into his bones so his claws which are also made out of bone and is an extension of his skeleton have been turned into adamantium, the reason for that during the weapon x program on him is because his claws were breakable like any other bone so they “fixed” that
