I am a 68 yo black woman. My mother was born with a patch of white hair in the front of her head. I look just like my Mom. I started to develop a white patch when I turned 16yo. My daughter looks like me and my Mom. She developed a white patch at 17 yo. She has a daughter who looks exactly like my Mom. She will be 16 this year. My daughter and I are breathlessly waiting to see if she will develop the white patch and at what age. My white patch turned into a entire head of white hair with some gray patches. If I say so myself....it is beautiful.

You're racking up the likes, so I'll add one more. I met up with my girlfriend from the 80s and I she'd developed into a silver fox. Looked great, but she's crazy. Spending time with her in the hood turned my beard WHITE in 9 days. It initially looked like I had been hit with a lighting bolt, big streak, then spread. But the hair on my head might have 5 grey strands total.

- This was the film debut of Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine. Before this, Jackman was in a major revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma for the National Theater in London. A video of that production can be found online, and he played Curly, who sings "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning." Since then, Jackman is about to be seen in his 10th appearance as Wolverine in Deadpool and Wolverine with Ryan Reynolds. He has also made many amazing films, including musicals (Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, P.T. Barnum in The Greatest Showman), romantic comedies (Kate & Leopold), action films (Swordfish, Van Helsing) and others. One of my favorites that is a mindbender is The Fountain...it actually takes at least two or three viewings to get that movie. - Famke Janssen who plays Jean Grey was in another huge franchise for only one film. She played a villainess in the James Bod film GoldenEye, which was the debut of Pierce Brosnan as Bond in 1995. Her name in the film is...unique and memorable and perfect for a Bond girl. - Bryan Singer, besides directing many of the X-Men films (directing four, but having input on others) also directed The Usual Suspects, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Superman Returns (an attempt to reboot the Superman films before Man of Steel and the DCEU). He directed Kevin Spacey to his Oscar for Verbal Kint in Suspects, and Rami Malek to his Oscar for Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. - The chemistry between Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto) and Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X) is one of the highlights of these films. They knew of each other before X-Men, as they are both well regarded and established stage actors with lots of Shakespeare roles between them, but had never met in real life. Since then, they have become best friends. They are extremely close...in fact, when Patrick married his wife, Sunny, Ian officiated the nuptials. They have done plays together in London and New York as well as other X-Men films. These men are the definition of friendship goals.

Slight correction about referring to Superman Returns as a reboot... Superman Returns is, actually, meant to be a direct continuation/sequel to the original Superman movies with Christopher Reeve. They basically ignored the 3rd and 4th movies but, it is meant to be in the same movie universe as the original two (which is why they incorporated footage of Marlon Brando as Jor-El from the first film). Just to distinguish it from something like Man of Steel, which is a proper reboot (i.e. it starts the story from scratch & exists in its own separate universe from the Christopher Reeve films). But, everything else you mentioned is correct! Great sum-up!! ☺

Rob Squad: Once you start the X-Men timeline, you will want to finish...
Rogue is extremely powerful, she just can't control her power. If she touches you temporarily, if you're a mutant for example, she will absorb their powers. If she was to touch you too long, she could kill or send that person into a deep coma and she would keep that power permanently. The Rogue version in the movies kind of got screwed over because she is far more powerful in the comics. In the comics she permanently took the powers of a powerful Marvel character. Since X-Men and the MCU rights were ran by different movie companies at the time, Rogue couldn't have that Marvel's character's powers. Trying not to spoil, but Jay should know if he watched the cartoons from the early 90s. Sabertooth has fast healing like Wolverine does BTW.
If you’ve ever been discriminated for being gay, or being black, or being Jewish u Understand x men there’s lots of civil rights movement going Also, magneto, Xavier may see things differently, but they both have mutual respect for each other so that’s why they was playing chess together

One of my favorite superhero movies! Hugh Jackman is perfect as Wolverine as he's been playing the character for 25 years in 9 movies and will be making his 10th appearance in DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE.

I was a fan since the 80's. When I heard any news about a comic book movie being made I tried my damndest to get a y behind the scene production information cause I was so eager to see *any* comic book adaptation on the screen. Odd that back the it was difficult to get any info while today info spreads if we want it to or not and people get so mad about spoilers. I remember reading in Wizard magazine that director Brian Singer banned any of his cast and crew from reading the comics at all. After watching their Clerks reaction, Jay might have a heart attack during Deadpool.
Some helpful tips from a guy whose been reading comics (especially X-Men) since the 80's: - Sabertooth is very similar to Wolverine. He has a fast healing power, incredibly strong, animalistic senses (smell, hearing, etc) and those fingernail claws are strong and sharp enough to cut through some metals. But he's psychotic. The actor that played him in this movie is actually a professional wrestler named Tyler Mane - Wolverine in the comics is actually very short. About 5ft. Hugh Jackman is about 6ft. But he did great with the part so comic fans have given him a pass. He loves his cigars. - Magneto and Xavier are Omega level mutants. Which means that they are among the most powerful mutants. Magneto can tap into the Earth's magnetic field and wreck destruction around the world if he really tries. - Jean Grey (Marvel Girl) has both the powers of Telekenisis (moving things with her mind) and telepathy (reading peoples minds and controlling them). Whereas Xavier just has telepathy. Jean is an Omega level mutant as well as you'll find out.

Rebecca Romijn, who played Mystique, said that it actually wasn't that much fun playing Mystique in this movie, because many of the cool things Mystique did were actually done by the actors playing the characters she was impersonating, not by her. Because of this, the director gave her one cool scene in the second movie that she could do on her own.
Storm is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel universe! It's not just about striking people with lighting, she has precise control over every aspect of the weather, across tiny spaces or vast distances. The other movies show more of what she's capable of, as does the new cartoon (X-Men 97).
Toad in theory has some pretty cool powers, stick to walls, prehensile tongue, super jumping, projectile mucus spit. It’s like he was bitten by a radioactive toad.
Blade being Marvel’s first successful film makes it the first one you should watch.
X Men and x2 are really good comic book movies. They develop character and come across smarter than most.
I'm glad you recognized Sir Ian, but sad you didn't recognize Sir Patrick.
What we all love about the X-Men is all the relationships we see grow and evolve Jean and Scott, Jean and Wolverine, Charles Xavier and Magneto etc. I enjoy Xavier and Magneto's the most because we all see how enemies can still be good friends at the same time Ideologies mix but the people who mix them up still have huge respect for each other The comics and cartoon from the 90s show this to great effect You should rewatch it again Jay

If you haven’t already realised, this movie was directed by Bryan Singer, one of his first successful superhero movies … he’s also the director for “The Usual Suspects”.

Yes! You two have literally been my favorite reaction channel for like 2+ years and to see that you're getting into the marvel/mcu is amazing! ❤️❤️
I haven't seen any comments about the actor playing sabertooth. It is Tyler Mane, he played Micheal Myers in Rob Zombies Halloween and Halloween 2. Started as a wrestler and transitioned to acting

Stan Lee does a cameo in all marvel movies until he can't. Such a cool dude and such an impact on so many kids.
Toad’s power isn’t weak, it’s not one of the strongest but definitely not a weak power. He’s always been one of my favourite xmen characters.
Im so jazzed for you two to engage in this franchise!
After you finish with the X-Men, we ALL would love to see your reactions from the 2000s Spider-Man movies! The 2000s Marvel movie era was such good entertainment!
Professor X and Magneto were once close friends. Magneto knew how to sabotage Cerebro, the machine Xavier uses to amplify his powers because he helped build it. I’d be thrilled to have several of the mutants’ powers: Magneto, Storm, Mystique, Wolverine, Jean Gray (she didn’t show off much in this movie), even the girl who ran thru the door.
Xmen are marvel movies License to Fox, Spider-man is licensed to Sony. And take place in different universes. Marvel studios have their own movies and these are known as the MCU. You should look up the order to watch them in as these movies are all connected. For the MCU start with iron man

Yes, somebody should do a in-depth explanation to Jay and Amber regarding the Marvel movies.
How exciting!!! Love it!!! 🤣. Amber & Jay. 🤣. That man brought a gun to a knife fight. And still lost! Best comment ever!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
According to Rebecca Romijn: It was a nine-hour makeup process for Mystique. We did, over the course of three movies, manage to get it down to seven hours, but that was still ... It was a big deal.

9 hrs in the make-up chair ??? So she problably had to come to set in the wee hrs of the morning. When I was in the army stationed in Korea had to be at work at 3:30 am and work non-stop till after the lunch rush ( then had a 30 minute break )then work non-stop till 8: 00 pm.Kept this schedule because we didn't have enough personnel to run 2 shifts like back in the states.Being so busy made the time go by so-FAST-tho.

@@user-be7tc2bd6e First off thank you for your service. Truly appreciated. By the time Jennifer Lawrence took on the role of Mystique she had to wait for a whole eight hours while blue paint was applied to every single part of her body. Not only that, but it took six make-up artists to apply it. And calling it a makeup chair is putting it nicely, as a period of the application required Lawrence to sit on a bicycle so the makeup artists could get to the harder parts of her body.

@@Markyajv Thank you for recognizing my service,it's appreciated.Telling me all this behind the scenes stuff of what Lawrence had to go through ( That part about 6 make-up artists to apply make-up truly awesome ) I tip my hat to her and the make-up artists, they have my-MAJOR-respect.8 hrs to apply and cover Lawrence's entire body is insane tho. LOL. I mean this in a good way tho. Thanks for the behind the scenes info, didn't know any of this.
The guy playing Toad is the same guy who played Darth Maul in Star Wars, Ray Park.
Paul McCartney loved these comics. He even recorded the song, "Magneto and Titanium Man".
I'll be Wolverine. He can heal real quick. Love the Claws. GET READY FOR X2: X-Men UNITED!!
13:35 Kano (from Mortal Kombat lol) walks in: "... Could be shit, could be frisbee-hat..." 🥏👒😂
Fun fact about Storm: not only is she one of the most powerful mutants in the world, even being worshipped as a goddess...she's also descended from a long line of sorceresses/priestesses in Africa, and has the potential to become a powerful sorceress in her own right. She's also an expert thief and pickpocket, due to her childhood on the streets in Cairo after she was orphaned.
8:42, fun fact about Wolverine. He initially comes off grumpy and mean but to the his friends he can be a teddy bear. In the comics he would often be paired up with younger mutants (usually female) in a big brother mentor role. Rogue, Kitty Pryde( the young girl who walks through walls) and Jubilee (a young Asian girl who shoots fireworks) have all been his protege/sidekick
I just did a double take because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This is going to be an amazing watch! These films are some of my favorites.
Toad is played by ray parks who played Darth maul in star wars the phantom menace
I hear you about your daughter 's hair starting to resemble Storm's. In my mid thirties, mine started to look like Rouge's. My Dad's sister developed a grey streak in the middle of her dark hair when she was about that age. My hair started out a strawberry, honey blonde colour. It kept changing until my late teens into a chestnut colour. Which looked brown in the shade and firery red in the sun. Then, as mentioned, I developed a grey streak around my temples. It's about a decade on, and it's starting to work its way back a little. My fashion forward, Aunty loved her grey streak. I always did like streaks, etc. I never felt the need to dye my hair when it was changing by itself. But these days, I get it dyed chestnut with coppery red highlights. I'm an Aussie of European and Asian decent.
Storm is one of the most powerful mutants. In the top of 'List of Most Known Characters' you'll find Phoenix (Jean Grey), Scarlett Witch (Wanda Maximoff) and Magneto among that "elite". Storm and Tchala got married in the comics, so Storm becomes Queen of Wakanda.
As far as I know, Wolverine originally had bone claws and healing, then got the Adamantium.

When this was happening and they said this 6'3" Aussie was being Wolverine, I was like, first off Wolverine is my fave X-men character and he's like 5'8". This dude had better be good and had better not screw this up. Hugh Jackman is BEYOND. This was an EXCELLENT start. Some lines were gold. Storm's line to Toad was...WTF but, you will LOVE this series. I will say this, rewatch the last part, as the ray was scattering pay attention to Jean Grey and you'll see a hint about where the next movies are headed. There are so many BTS factoids about thus movie, like Hugh Jackman getting his "junk" twisted in the stunt ropes. 😂😂
How was this movie released 24 years ago? DANG I AM OLD 😵 Anyway, this introduced Hugh Jackman to the world and stepped up the superhero movie as a genre. When X2 came out a few years later I officially became obsessed (because of Nightcrawler). Can't wait for you to see that one!

OMG Yes!!! Will not disappoint, you might be intrigued by the characters: Wolverine, Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Mystique, Rogue, Magneto, Storm, Sabretooth, Beast, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, etc!!
Like any character who has been in the comics for decades, through different storylines, different writers, different mediums (films, animated TV, etc), Wolverine has been portrayed in different ways, depending on the needs of the story the writers want to tell. For this film, they wanted Logan / Wolverine to be a bad-ass, but with a heart of gold. One complaint that many had, especially at the time, is that Wolverine is supposed to be rather a short guy: like 5'5", but solid like a fireplug. His "Napoleon complex" has been a big part of his character for much of his existence. Hugh Jackman is 6'3" which is actually rather tall. But they filmed in such a way as to minimize his height, not make a big deal of it; and he did SUCH a great job with his portrayal of the character, that that small discrepancy in type-casting can be well overlooked. But yeah: as you go through this series of films (which, to be honest, can be somewhat inconsistent and meandering; there never was a single vision, but many writers and directors coming in with their own take on continuing the story of the X-Men, and of Wolverine in particular) enjoy the ride. Even the films that were less successful are, in my opinion, still well worth watching; even their mis-steps also have valuable insight and are good stories with fun action and strong moments. So good luck with your X-Men film journey!
Just to give context to Wolverines healing ability, in the comic books he once regenerate from a single drop of blood. Y'all also need to start on the MCU (Starting with Iron Man and watch them in release order)
A likely unintentional added reason why this is such a great franchise to begin now is that its Pride Month. And to many people, the struggle for mutant rights in the comics and the movie are like an allegory of the struggle for LGBTQ+ rights. While Stan Lee never intended for mutants to be an allegory for LGBTQ+ people, I can certainly see why people believe that they were intended to be. Both groups are born that way, typically to a pair of "normal" people as parents. Both groups appear totally "normal" at birth, then manifest during puberty. Both groups are persecuted as being "dangerous" to "normal" children. X-Men 2 leans a little more heavily into these parallels, giving Bobby a "coming out" scene with his family, and his mother asking him "Have you ever tried not being a mutant?" In any case, this is a great series of movies for you guys to start reacting to and i can't wait to see you guys watch the next one.

@Thundarr100 "No amount of words -- of derision, distrust, or disinformation can change the truth that each one of us: man, woman, Black, Hispanic, Jew, Asian, Native American, homosexual, mutant, everyone underneath all the words . . . We are all family." -Professor Xavier, Uncanny X-Men #294
So “good guys” and “bad guys” is a very flexible concept in this series. The best way to think about the mutants are like MLK and his supporters vs Malcom X and his. Both have goals that most would consider noble. The difference is in the methods to get to those ends and there is some division on which method they agree with.
In this movie I do love the explanation of Magneto and his motivations. They pretty well nailed it.

This casting was perfect. Especially Xavier and Magneto. In the comics, Charles and Eric are great friends, who want the same thing "Mutant Freedom". They just have different ways of getting there. Magneto could care less if regular humans are here. And Charles wants there to be coexistence. That's why they were playing chess together. There is and will always be love between the two. In real life Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen (they are both Knighted!) are also really good friends. So, the chemistry is super natural.
33:52, imagine being one of these kids seeing the Blackbird lifting off in the night. I bet they are thinking “I can’t wait to grow up and be one of the X-Men!!”
