That $500K question... arguably the gutsiest decision in Millionaire history.
@teleman07
Жыл бұрын
I though that was an easy question to guess. I am not from USA neither english is my native language but I could guess it right too. Even the last million question was worded in a way that from all the 4 possible answers, the right answer was truly felt odd and most probable. Same goes for the band name question. They literally asked the hardest question in the beginning, the mayor question. And the life magazine question was hard too but it was from an era he was characteristically interested in. He also literally failed the chess question too... This guy was very lucky to get the questions he got and thus his win was not a surprise.

@@teleman07 Guiliani is a big name in America, so not too hard for an American to guess. The Life mag question def would be the hardest for anyone to guess. The 500k question could make you question yourself since Library of Congress and DoE sound probable since the phrase refers to knowledge setting you free and both of them are more academically related. CIA is a gut guess when the only tie it has is that the I stands for Intelligence
The moment when his friend gave him the wrong answer but he followed his gut and won 500k, was amazing!
I think the most surprising thing about this run is the fact Kevin Smith was only 45 years old at the time.

Went with his gut, tough decision but it definitely paid off, his friend must’ve felt really relieved (like Meredith said) that he didn’t go with his initial guess
Meredith's reaction after Kevin locked in his million dollar final answer was absolutely priceless. She was so genuinely happy to see him win the million! One of the reasons why I loved Meredith when she was on Millionaire.

Kevin really clutched that 500,000 question. I’m glad he was able to pull the win, he’s probably in my top 3 fav winners!
Super smart and very polite with a good sense of humor. What a guy.
Meredith is such a sweet heart. Such a warm lovely lady!
3:34 his Marlon Brando impression is spot on!
When he said "please let my mom know" I'm not crying, you are.
he is a time traveller from 1812
Very very humble man; a well deserving contestant
Meredith is such a sweetheart. She is so genuinely happy for him.
I never knew he called his mother after winning his million to thank her like that on national television. Gotta love this guy!
Meredith’s reaction to the CIA answer is everyone watching this video. She’s so great.
He loves his mom and the rest of the family dearly.He is obviously a great son no doubt.Wishing him well.
One of the best and gorgeous host I have ever seen..
His beard covered in confetti and he still asks politely to ask her to let his mom know. That says it all....
On the TV series question, he's obviously in doubts because probably he doesn't got time to see much TV. He believes that the audience would know that one, who is actually a poor partner when a tough or more intellectual questions show up. He's able to manage very accurate questions and also knows how society works. Such a smart and super wise player. Hats off to this magical wizard !
I like how you can tell which answers are right or wrong by whether he nods or shakes his head.
Holy man i never would have thought that was cia Great balls man
She looks so genuinely happy that he won. I love it.
I’ve never played chess before in my life, and many others haven’t either. What might seem easy to some would not be to others. Chris Tarrant on the UK version always used to say “they’re only easy if you know the answers”. It’s almost always better to use a lifeline if you’re in doubt than taking a blind guess, it could help you win a million dollars down the line.
Something about seeing a humble persons life change in front of their eyes while they risk it at and could lose it all like Kevin did at the $500,000 question but getting it correct anyways alongside the tensity of the music and the crowd cheering gives goosebumps
First one was a trick question, I often fired my mom's meatloaf as a projectile
1st time i saw that episode as a kid i was so shocked and so excited that i almost pissed in my pants LOL
He’s so cute! So happy he won the money for his family :)
I remember when this episode aired. I remember specifically his distinct look and the part where he won. Lol
FBI: Federal Bureau of Investigation CIA: Central Intelligence "Agency" Department of Education Library of Congress What "agency?" AGENCY!!! I never thought about that until recently....

Sometimes the answer is within the question if you read thoroughly enough. But I think the FBI is classified as an agency as well. Not the other 2 though.

There's been a few times where the answer was there in the question even for big money.
Kevin Smith was on the primetime version, but didn't make it out of the ring. The question he's referencing to is that Nectarine/Tangerine question that did Stan Wu in on the Tax-Free edition (Stan made it back for the $0 Winners Special but didn't make it out of the ring).
The host is actually older than him
What a lovely moderator. So genuine
I got emotional when he publicly thanked his mom at the end
they didn't skimp on confetti back in the day
Seeing this now all these years later, it seems obvious to me that the answer is CIA, but then I realized that the only reason why I know this is because of this episode lol
Look at the 14:26 mark when Meredith puts her hand on her forehead, she is shaking with excitement. You could tell she really wanted him to win.

@notoriouseagle1074

This was the version that was syndicated in the Afternoon to any network around America, the way Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy are. The Regis version was exclusive to ABC and aired in primetime.

What does it mean that this version is "syndicated"?
@alexdostaler
Жыл бұрын
Syndicated means it does not air on one specific network; in a local television market one station can buy the rights to air the program. Jeopardy! is arguably the most well-known syndicated game show of all-time, even if it has returned to ABC more recently. Kelly Clarkson's talk show is another example of syndicated programming. Shows like Seinfeld, Friends, Big Bang Theory, etc. were successful enough to go into syndication for their reruns
