I think there is a slight error in the answers to the £32,000 question. Lent actually lasts for 46 days (Ash Wednesday to the day before Easter Sunday). The '40 days' that people (including both Donald and Jeremy) refer to doesn't include the 6 Sundays that occur during the Lent period. Having said that, this has no effect on the 'correct' answer to the question. Congratulations to Donald, who was calm throughout, didn't dilly-dally over any questions and used his 50-50 very wisely, having already eliminated two of the options, hoping that that one of them would remain after the 50-50. I get so frustrated people who don't have a clue about an answer, use their 50-50, then still spend too long dithering before taking the money. Donald's performance was a joy to watch.
@markymark443
2 ай бұрын
I mean there’s no point in leaving a lifeline on the table. It would be kinda silly and a waste. Might as well use it and then decide.
@kwilson5832
2 ай бұрын
@@markymark443 I disagree. If you really haven't got a clue about the answer and the stakes are high, then there really is no point. If the question was for over £20,000 and I had no idea (eg I don't know much about the British Monarchy, so let's say the question was 'in which year did Queen Anne die' and all of the options are between 1400 and 1850), then I know that whichever two options are left, I still won't know. It's all very well spending a lot of time thinking when there are 4 options, but when contestants say they haven't got a clue, then go for 50/50 because they 'think they should because it's pointless to leave a lifeline', but still spend ages wondering about the two remaining options before taking the money, it's painful to watch. If, however, one of the options can be ruled out straight away, that's a different story. With the question I posed about Queen Anne, if one of the options was later than 1900, it would be worth me going for 50/50 because I know she died before 1900. I hope that the post-1900 date remains as an option, in which case, I'll know that it's the other answer. But if the 50-50 takes away the post-1900 date so I'm left with two equally viable ones, what's the point in spending ages poring over them before deciding to take the money?

This man is almost like the UK version of John Carpenter. Got through the whole game only using one lifeline (well Carpenter did to greet his dad, so it's pretty much none)

The Transformers toys were "just coming out". Mate they've been around since the 80's. I am 27 and I used to watch reruns of the original TV series in the early 2000's and when the Live Action movie came out I had a Top Trumps card deck based on the movie

I never heard of Durban before and completely failed that question. But I knew the answer of the last question straight away. How weird is that?
So, Cinderella is a Disney character now? Even if you want want to conveniently disregard the Greeks and the French, give a bit of credit to Grimms brothers, will you?

this episode was most likely taped sometime near the beginning of covid (note the plexiglass between the FF contestants, and the lack of audience). Imagine how different things would've looked for Donald with a studio audience

Don't mind Eddie McGuire here in Australia but Clarkson a much better host again. From watching some of these, even the contestants seem more switched on than Australians.

I look at this and right out of the gate knew the final answer to the question what pirate died in battle off the coast of at the time colony of North Carolina. I lived near Outer Banks in Currituck County and Edward Teach aka Blackbeard died off coast and had a home in Bath , NC a protected inlet river out of massive Pamlico Sound

I mean there’s no point in leaving a lifeline on the table. It would be kinda silly and a waste. Might as well use it and then decide.
@kwilson5832

Callaghan question. That's just showing off. Wouldve been funny if he was wrong though!

Well he ripped through that in one session, didn't even have time to change his shirt.
I personally think all the questions were relatively manageable, especially by a process of elimination. I got most by doing that. In his case, I guess it was serendipity, as most questions were in his area of specialisation and those that weren't he had had some experience, like having been to tue Caribbean etc. All the same, he did well.
It was a bit easy for him because almost all the questions related to history

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy! Pity it was in an empty studio, but I guess he won't be caring. As he says - it depends how the questions fall. This is the 3rd time I've known a whole run - other times I'd be knocked out at £2000 with a question about boy bands...
Couldnt have happened to a better person.

I don't really care for the custom safety net change, having the constant reminder seems annoying. But maybe it plays better if you didnt grow up with the 32k target. If I went on, I'd keep it for the 32k, it's too ingrained in me.
