@@vampirascoffin870 tbh they didn't need to because they told an excellent underdog storyline. The story was a midcarder who never reached his true potential being held down by management and a champion who became everything he despised. Granted they didn't need to have the racial overtones, but they still made the conclusion even more satisfying. It's kinda the same thing as the Booker T vs Triple H storyline in 2003, except this time Kofi won.

As a german, hearing Brock Lesnar being described as "the most german man, to not be german" is very funny.

The worst part about the Jinder reign was, as Adam quoted is his Jinder booking video (and despite the fact they want to have PPV in India, per reports), the business they tried to get in India did not work out as well as it should’ve.

Such a dumb idea. Jinder was so beloved by India that ticket sales for the two dates ground to a halt, forcing WWE to scrap one of the dates, take the WWE title off Jinder and have him lose to Triple H (then dance like a fool afterwards).

I don’t know if this is a hot take but I really like the current design of the WWE Championship. It looks so clean.

It's ironic that WWE won't allow their championships to be referred to as "belts" or "straps", yet that's exactly how they've treated their titles for years.

I don't think the modern version of the title is bad at all it's simple and ok. That's what I would've said if the design of the Universal, Raw and Smackdown Women's titles weren't exactly like the WWE Championship.

The fact that it was the totle that was replaced with the spinner belt makes the spinner belt even worse in my opinion.

JBL was a good heel champion. And he definitely stepped up and had his best matches as JBL rather than part of a tag team.

Disagree on Backlund's second run. That match with Bret and that whole story was great, including Owen's involvement, and you could have done so much more with it. Instead, they squandered it with Diesel and shuffling Backlund back down the card.

Being hated because you're a good heel is different from being hated because you're a unprepared wwe champion. CM Punk is a good heel because he's a trash talker who can back his talks in the ring. The Miz is a good heel because he's a good at promo, a world champion heat magnet, & decent in the ring. Daniel Bryan is a good heel because his reasoning makes sense (the planet IS in danger) & i don't need to tell you about his in-ring skills. The fans like good heels that have a great cause behind their heel turn & decent in the ring, so they're still entertaining to watch. And what is jinder being heel for? Because he's an Indian? That a bullsh*t reason imo. If he's good in the ring, maybe he could be good heel, but as it stands, he wasn't. Don't get me wrong, IT WASN'T HIS FAULT. Jinder's been dealt a bad hand by the management. But saying that he's a good heel simply because people hated him is not a justification for his wwe title reign.

The main mistake was introducing that stupid title called universal championship

I hope roman destroys that title to bring a new title which matches the Samoan traditions . A beautiful title like the big gold belt undisputed championship and the big eagle

I’ve drawn (in my head) some better renderings for the 2 of the top 4 titles. I haven’t been able to come up with one for Women’s belt yet. But, shrinking the logo on the belt 20% and replacing the black, leather background with a textured gold-plated design, can give a modern day “big gold belt” feel. As for the Universal title, I would customize it to the WWE star carrying the belt (except for Goldberg). The Fiend would have his face in the middle, but he has the logo in his mouth as if he’s biting it, and Roman would have a Samoan tribal feel throughout the title. That way, it makes the Universal title a bit more special and the fans can buy their favorite replica. It’s a win-win strategy, business wise. What do you think?

I dont see what the problem was with the design... It was a step up from that bland undisputed title design

Then there’s me, who loves the look of the 2005-13 wwe title...

WWE putting the title on the Miz in 2010 and have the nerve of having the rock interfere in wrestlemania main event to make a "swerve" to keep the belt on the Miz for longer. In order for the Miz to be a main center or even be deserving of the time he needs to change his entire gimmick which he has been running with for almost 14 - 15 years now.

Piper having the title would mean he would have to lose to Hogan, and Piper always knew having that moment would be the pinnacle, so he always kept it a distant possibility.

This may or may not be true, but I've heard that Piper was never given a run with the title because he refused to be pinned cleanly by anyone. Taking a loss via DQ or countout was one thing, but the title wouldn't change hands that way, and McMahon would have to get the title off of Piper sooner or later. The only exception that I know of, at least in WWE, was Bret Hart pinning him for the IC title in Wrestlemania VIII; Piper had so much respect for the Hitman that he had no problem taking the pinfall loss. Again, this is only what I've heard. 🤷‍♂️

The problem w/ Piper is that I don’t see him dropping the belt. How do you get it off him? We know he protected his character on Hogan-like levels so how do you remove the championship?

@ ThePresident187 Maybe have him fake an injury and be stripped of the title? That way he wouldn't actually have to lose in a match to someone in order to lose the belt.

Well, now we need a list of the worst mistakes WCW did with their belt. It'll probably be two hours long but we still need and want it.

Owen should have taken the title off Bret at Survivor Series 94 instead of Backlund and they should have given him a run into Wrestlemania and possibly beyond. His program with Bret made him the biggest heel in the company and he was one of the best workers in the WWF at the time. Could have been a lot more fun than Diesel anyway.

Oh God, Jinder Mahal as WWE champion was a nightmare.

The last thing i watched in wwe (other than edges return) was kofi v lesnar for the title. It pissed me off so much that i havent watched a minute of wrestling made since (other than edges return but that was like 45 seconds)

I am so sorry. But I love John Cena's spinning belt.

One of the worst mistakes they've made with the belt is immediately taking the title off of Rey Mysterio (the very same night he won it mind you) to put it right back on John Cena. And Rey NEVER ONCE getting an opprotunity at it again.

Diesel isn't even a bad choice for a main event star. He was cool, looked like a bad motherfucker and a good talker. The problem is the same problem with every wrestler Vince tries to cram in a Hulk Hogan shaped box. Diesel got over as a cocky heel bastard. He should have been a monster heel champ so the smaller, technically gifted roster of the time can bump around the ring for him. Not saying this'd be the best title reign ever but it wouldn't be remembered as the catastrophe it is.

WWE’s decision making in 1995 can only be described as self-sabotage. You had Diesel as champ for 11/12s of it, Mabel being head-scratchingly crowned King of the Ring only to be let go mere months later cuz of what an unsafe worker he was. Not to mention having Bam Bam Bigelow vs. NFL Quarterback Laurence Taylor in the blessed main event of WrestleMania. What exactly did Vince pay Creative in 1995? My guess is left over Hulk Hogan merchandise. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

As an Indian, it was so insulting to see Jinder, an Indian Candian who has never lived in India portraying really reaaally stereotypical stuff. Loved your booking of his run Adam!

I'll be honest, in retrospect I love the 'Mania 8 decision, and not just because I'm a WCW fan. The blow to Hogan's pride of having Sid need to kick out of the Leg Drop of Doom (Thank you, Papa Shango) to save the main event of Wrestlemania is totally worth it. Also, in one of his books, or maybe the History of the WWE Championship, he mentions he would have rather worked with Randy anyway and the match and feud overall were well done (and before we all knew the power of photoshop).

Id suggest a top 10 mistakes wwe made with the universal title but considering that pretty much all of the universal title booking has been trash until recently when Roman won it back I'd be hard to narrow it down to just 10

5:21 - Now I'll actually disagree here, I actually really like the modern WWE Championship belt. Not any of the knockoffs mind you, those look objectively worse, but the original deal that came with the 2014 logo change, I loathe to admit that jewel-encrusted safely-corporate belt looks great! As nice as the Winged Eagles were though, let's be real: if they were gonna keep just one old, classic title belt design around to be _the_ championship, then it should have been the Big Gold Belt. To their credit they did, even if for the last few years the WHC was a glorified midcard belt with the prestige of a world title, but when they merged the titles I still feel they should've just kept the BGB as the belt.

Honorable mention: Wasting Cena's 16th reign as WWE Champion. He beat AJ in a hot rivalry, dropped it at the next PPV, and went into an intergender tag feud with the Miz at Wrestlemania... He could've had a mania match with AJ Styles. Just think about that.

In all fairness to the 4 main championships looking the same, the same can be said for other combat sports.

For me, the Lesnar absences are emblematic of the problems with the WWE Championship. Because WWE has no proper ranking or number one contendership system, the belt is basically forgotten about until someone randomly pops up on TV to say "please can I fight Brock now". UFC or boxing champions only fight a couple of times a year, but their shows still draw without them because everything happening is about jockeying for position to take on the champions. If WWE treated the main event scene of its non-Lesnar ppvs as if they were about people fighting for the chance to get at him, it would work. But it doesn't, so people get frustrated by it.

The Spinner Belt was the worst thing to happen to the WWE Championship. Period

The Spinner Belt was actually planned to be retired by end of Cena’s long reign in 2007 (when Triple H/Orton fighting it out) since it is only designed for Cena but the creative team felt like the belt lasted for too long and it wouldn’t make sense to revert back to the Undisputed Title Belt. Not to mention also that this was the time when WWE started to remove any “past” references due to the Chris Benoit incident.

I agree I wish they would of kept the Original gold World heavyweight championship

Honourable mention: NOT GIVING REY MYSTERIO A RUN WITH IT. He won it, but for one day before being squashed by cena. Arguably wwe’s greatest masked wrestler and high flyer finally wins the big gold strap and then it’s just taken away

If they built jinder up for a good year, had him terrorize the midcard with legitimate wins his WWE championship win would have been epic. He looked the part but shoving him down our throats & into the spotlight wasn't the way to do it.

Unpopular opinion, but as dumb as the spinner belt looked, it looked good on a lot of people. John Cena obvi, CM Punk, The Miz, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Edge without the stupid Rated R spinner on it. Probably the bes thing that can be said about the spinner belt

When Jinder won, I was hella happy. I thought if Jinder won then the other midcards like Sami or Luke Harper a chance at the belt too but then Shinsuke lost and I really hated the reign.

As I speak, I feel that the WWE Championship is suddenly the most important thing about WWE again, because the people involved around that main event scene is quite frankly incredible. Orton has it for the 10th time and Drew is constantly chasing him after the end of his first reign. Wyatt is out for revenge given Orton ended his only reign with the belt (and I guess other Wyatt household burning shenanigans) and there's also a certain Money In the Bank holder who has certain Money In the Bank history with Orton too. The belt feels important again and I'm truly happy about that. I love it when there's so many wrestlers chasing after one guy either because that one guy has the belt, or because they have a prior grudge that is suddenly elevated due to the belt. It's what made the 2019 Chamber feel so special because there were 6 guys who had spent the past year fighting each other and suddenly coming to blows all at once for the championship because ultimately in wrestling narrative, what matters more than the championship? The competition is why I think the both WWE title is in the healthiest state its been in for ages, and the Universal title is probably in its healthiest ever (just wanted to bring that up because ever since Roman came back, that belt is now more meaningful than ever and the Roman/Usos programme is working wonders). I'll admit now that I wasn't the biggest fan of Brock always having the title just to run off with it for 6 months after Summerslam. But after some thoughts and some time appreciating more of Lesnar's work, I'd like to argue that Lesnar does benefit the title. Think about it, he's probably the last legit toughest of the tough guys in wrestling, which makes sense as to why they put the belt on him, but also gives time to carve new big stars when he's not around so that when he does return with the belt on the line, it makes that match much more meaningful. Stuff like that helped Seth Rollins and partially Roman Reigns a while ago, and in the last year it benefited Drew McIntyre, his Mania win for the big belt was helped by the fact it was Brock Lesnar that he beat.

These videos are always a highlight of my Sundays. You should try a list of the worst/dumbest match finishes in history

Roddy feels like the last "real" wrestler, he didn't need a belt, he was so charismatic and could get over with a just a mic and in a way he was just made for the business but definitely seems missed.

What about BOOKER T THE 5 TIME CHAMPION. HE DESERVESED A TITLE RUN ALSO IM JUST SAYING

The Deisel part made me think of: 10 Fascinating Fact about Summerslam 1995. "What are you guna do with that 250 cents?!"

I hated when WWE made the undisputed title and sacrificed what were arguably two of the most prestigious and recognized titles in North American wrestling at the time and gave us the trash that was the WWE Undisputed Title.

Bork Lazer the fridge made entirely of angry meat and a desire to cause human misery may be the classic Blampied Lesnar joke, and I love it, but nothing has ever described Lesnar better than "The most German man to ever not be German." Legitimately, there's a part of my brain that's shocked every time Lesnar speaks and he doesn't sound like he could moonlight as the Red Skull if he just stopped wearing the face of the last moose he bellowed to death as a gristly trophy.

I’ve been bingeing these lists lately and I absolutely love these videos, but man when u said smack down moved to a right wing channel and then took the belt off a black guy? Like what man? Only insane people think like that lol don’t do this to me
