WW2 Eastern Front Nazi Germnay Advance in Soviet Russia Ukraine | Color Footage

In the tumultuous year of 1942, as World War II raged across continents, a significant chapter was unfolding on the Eastern Front. Here, in the vast expanses of Ukraine and Southern Russia, history was being captured not just in the annals of time, but through the lens of a camera.
Enter Hans Bastanier, a German Propaganda cameraman, armed not with weapons, but with an Arriflex color camera. His mission was unique - to document the German 6th Army's advance through the Eastern territories during the summer and autumn of 1942. This footage, offers a vivid, unfiltered glimpse into the realities of war.
As we delve into this collection, spanning from June to September 1942, we are transported back to a world at war. Each frame, each color, tells a story - not just of military strategies and battlegrounds, but of the human condition amidst one of the most pivotal conflicts in history. This documentary aims to bring those stories to life, providing a rare, colorful window into a time that has long passed but should never be forgotten.

Very interesting and the music was so appropriate. Most grateful. So fortunate to have this material available in perpuity via the internet, Regards from an 87 year old Englishman who served 2 years in the Royal Air Force as a National Servicemen, may 1954, to may 1956. And I can still remember my service number! England, February, 2024.

The German Soviet war of 1941-45 was a brutal conflict, fought on both sides with unrelenting harshness, and without pity or regard to the normal rules of war. Hitler instructed his Generals not to give the Soviets ANY quarter. Some of these men no doubt handed out the kind of savagery that they were subjected to in return. It is an old saying 'live by the Sword, die by it'.

Heart wrenching to watch just wondering how many of those smiling faces from both civilians and soldiers would have their lives extinguished from their bodies. On their way to hell on earth. It's just impossible to grasp what I believe is to have been the real dark age of humanity. Millions dying by the day. To contrast the beauty of the countryside with the imminent death of those passing by is almost cruel. Life has no feelings. Fates sealed on both the people that perished and the "lucky" ones to have survived to never be the same. I'm sure those that made it back home never actually went back home baring the physical and mental scars and wounds until the day death relieved them from their unfortunate lives and harrowing memories.

mainly due to the failure of achieving any real objectives in the campaign Foreign units where a problem since they were commanded by German officers. Hitler planned to encircle russia and prevent stalin from his resources.it was his generals who wanted a full frontal war which failed miserably. Should have not fortified Stalingrad and simply encircle Moscow, war would’ve ended by mid 1943

If you’re a German watching this and seeing my comment, please please rekindle that love for your country that once burned so bright! Since this war nationalism just as they intended has been tarred and feathered! Never to be seen since European nationalism is basically banned or frowned upon Please don’t just read what was set out by the winners for you to eat up and follow without asking questions, look at what happened to your people look at what the bolsheviks did to your women and your people even the British and Americans look at what we did to Dresden go see the pictures and hear the stories of the people, don’t turn away from the roots of what that party intended because it was great and it was beautiful and it should still exist today Your grandparents where lied to we all where lies to about that war and we have been told to believe it and nothing else, when you look at things from a wider lense hear who AH was actually earning Europe about and look who was behind things and even still after the war or even today the same people and now others Read into how Germany was blamed for so so much they didn’t do and still today are paying money out to people who where never effected by anything, the war was made about them victimising them and feeling sorry for them When so many Germans died and where told as a nation they should suffer forever Please rekindle that national pride! You have so much history and a man just wanted that to burn bright and burn together in each of your hearts, we are all different people and we work better together with them and that’s being taken away from us now.
