😮😮 That sounds so stressful I always do the research in like the first 2 weeks of getting the essay title because I'm all enthusiastic (and subconsciously my brain knows I need to do that to not fail 😂) And then I write my essay the night before because I don't want good grades apparently 😂😂

joining a year late but same. i got the essay question at the end of november and it’s due today (4th february) i’m almost done now but i did research in the 5 days before. i really hate myself i guess 😭

everytime he said “alexa play naive by the kooks” mine started playing it... i love it 😂😂

I love this “last minute”-videos. I’m writing my bachelors thesis at the moment and have just 2 weeks left. Watching these videos in my break and I feel instantly better, because I’m not the only one who needs pressure to be productive. To everyone in the same situation: stay strong, we will get through this.

I finished writing my 20.000-word thesis at 4.30 am when I had to hand in a physical copy at 10 am. I'd say you did a damn good job submitting it 2 hours before the deadline.

Thanks for being real about getting lost for hours on your phone I usually feel guilty about doing that when I see how much other people seem to be able to focus on their studying I guess we're all human, but yeah, it's nice to see some real shit here ^^'

the other day I was really struggling with procrastination during an essay and I just told myself "you know what, I'm giving myself half an hour and if its not done I'm giving up." and then somehow I finished the whole thing. That ultimatum was really helpful for some reason

I told myself the same thing a few hours ago. Thought about giving up my bachelors thesis (because I have just 2 weeks left) and redo the whole thing next semester. I said to myself: write 5 pages before you go to sleep… and I’ve done it. This pages are not the best but a good base to work with. I feel so much better now and I know will finish my thesis in the next two weeks somehow. Fingers crossed. His “last minute”-videos keeping me motivated, because I’m not alone.

I find it so fascinating that while you're about to finish your degree, I've just started my undergraduate this year. I know it's a pointless comparison, but for some reason, it's just interesting. A kind of "I'll get there eventually" mindset is going on for me

My back is hurting watching Jack hunch over his laptop like that...

I found this channel this year, 2021, and watching these old videos with the whipped coffee from the beginning of quarantine has got me feeling way too nostalgic

I haven't seen anyone comment about him saying, "whisky business" as yet, so here is that comment.

jack makes me excited about uni even though i’m doing an entirely different course at an entirely different uni.

I know Jack probably won’t see this but can I just say his videos give me so much motivation and energy to complete my English lit a level essays. I struggle sometimes because none of my friends take it and seeing a fellow English student struggle with essay planning is so reassuring and i can’t thank him enough for these videos 🥺

I'm working on my final essay of second year right now. I've done 200 words out of 2500 and now I'm watching a Jack video... Edit: Oh and its 100% of this module so no pressure

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for sharing your uni experience for the past 3 years with us. I'm from Durham but at uni in Sheffield so it was so nice to see clips of my home town and find out more about Durham uni life (you'd be surprised as to how little outsiders know about the uni haha). I'll be submitting my final essay next week and then starting my first year teaching in a primary school in September. I've loved sharing the highs and lows of uni with you and knowing that someone else is going through the same student life as me. I’m literally putting of my thesis research watching this..I got 3 weeks left what am I doing 😭

It's crazy watching this now. I watched it originally in my second year of uni and again before writing my dissertation for my biomed undergrad. It's only fitting to be watching it again for motivation for my masters research project. 3:32 also this is so perfect for me lol, 4 hours of research and i was giving up hope then i found the one paper that was exactly what i needed to justify my research. Turns out my supervisor is currently doing the same research but only one group has published anything meaningful which is really great when my whole project is riding on the idea!

Omg I'm writing a comparative essay as well, on two short stories we had to pick from a list and I chose 'The Dead' by Joyce and 'Odour of Chrysanthemums' by D.H. Lawrence! I'm having trouble formulating my ideas into a coherent whole though haha and the sample essays on my uni's platform made me worry about whether my English is academic/advanced enough! I was literally in the exact same situation....had an informative essay that was worth 30% of my final grade due as my final assessment of my undergrad career....except I submitted 1 minute early lol 😅 Congrats Jack! 🙌🏼🎉

Since you want to do some creative writing, I’d really recommend Branson Sanderson’s lectures (you can find them on his KZread channel and his books are great too!) on creative writing! They are really good and inspiring and I think that you would enjoy them a lot!

This gives me hope that I can write my final 2 3000 word essays in the next 2 weeks 🙏🏻

Do not fret! Once you start your masters you will get to write more essays...like me, literally sitting here trying to finish my final paper right now! I got two days and 3500 words to write, yayy!
