Wrestling with Rosenberg : Jerry "The King" Lawler
Ойын-сауық
Whoa this is legendary. Jerry Lawler discusses his heart attack, the death of Owen Hart, his feud with Bret, his disappointment in his "Mania Moment", and the real story of his beef with Jim Carey. Next time we will get to Memphis! So much to cover with this guy!

thanks man.
I met Jerry back in July 2001 in Ohio what a nice guy. This was when he left wwe and I remember asking him when he was going to come back and he just smiled and said we'll see Jim . So when he came back I was ecstatic. And I was there live when he got inducted into the hall of fame.
Peter Rosenberg is probably the ONLY interviewer I'll ever respect, he's not a mark, he never interrupts the wrestlers, he truly respects everyone he interviews!
Thanks for putting this up, so good to hear about these things from the other side of the mike. Glad Jerry is doing so good after everything.
you can't help but get closer to the screen and just listen as jerry talks, great interview get him back more often!!!
Lawler is fact that mic skills and popularity is a key ingredient in pro wrestling
It's always nice when you come across any celebrity who does seem to be a genuinely nice guy/girl and Lawler appears to be one of them. I liked how highly he spoke of Owen Hart, and he's just one of many who has done so. I'm glad he's still with us after his on air heart attack on Raw and is doing well again and hope to still see him on our TV screens for years to come.
I've been waiting for this one!
Just started watching all ur interviews....AWESOME!!!! keep em coming
Great interview!!!
This is a great interview, a true great!
That Chinese ghost over the kings shoulder scared the shit out of me
Lawyer: "I don't even think about the fact that I'm calling a match" Truer words have never been spoken.
amazing interview, jerry is such a good talker. from the tragic owen stuff to the funny carrey story, fantastic.
I'm so glad he's still around. Jerry is the man.
Legend. Great interview.
great interview
Agreed. I remember how King used to be. His arguments with JR, insults and heel attitude was priceless. Over the past several years he's been a shadow of that. Watching some old PPVs reminds me King used to live up to the name.
That ghost face behind King, is really creepy!
great interview..big up Rosenberg
I remember reading about some of these stories in his book,"It's Good To Be The King.....Sometimes." So nice to hear him tell them.
Great interview
Great Interview
Nice upload Peter
100 years from now. They will still be talking about the KING!!!!
Bret can realize now that the Hart/Lawler feud was one of the most memorable thngs of that time period.
millions of people around the world praying for jerry at the same time... probably the world's largest group prayer.
Jerry "The King" Lawler is a true legend!!!
Lawler did some great things in WWE such as his feud with Brett and his commentating but i will always remember him for his Memphis days before all of that. He was very good in the ring and was excellent as a heel or a babyface.
It was to short, we want more
Anyone out there can call themselves the King , but there is only one & his first name is "Jerry" . Long live the King !
Another phenomenal interview. Dolph next!
It is a shame many fans don't realize what a great wrestler Lawler was particularly in the 70's and 80's. The WWE has never used him right or nearly enough.
I remember watching the PPV when Owen passed away, and Jerry telling us live on air that he held Owen's head as the Medical staff worked on him in the ring. The King has seen so much tragedy in his life.
Hey Pete, I saw that you tweeted Jake the Snake Roberts, earlier this year. I am just curious if anything came from that small interaction and if we can expect an interview between you two before Wrestlemania this year? It would be very interesting to see how he is doing these days in an interview specifically about that.
Im a Jerry's Kid!!! Wow what an Interview!!
WOW! That Jim Carey story is one of the best I've heard, Rosenberg hit gold with this interview.
i grew up watcing jerry and ric flair. they were great matches
best announcer in wwe
is that why jerry keep looking back lol but im glad jerry has a good heart with all that stuff with cole and punk and heyman he truly has a sense of humor
It's strange hearing him talk normally.
What an amazing story about Jim Carrey. Great interview.
Funny Rosenberg brought up Owen Hart. The night in Montreal, when Lawler had the heart attack during the match between Hell No & PTP, and just fell out on to the floor there at booth, the fans actually chanted Owen Hart. It was random to the people watching from home, but those there live knew what had gone on, and it was not till after that I, as I am sure everyone else found out about it via michael cole. As Owen's ordeal came under the same circumstances - live tv. That still gives me chills.
Jerry ALWAYS loved Owen.ALWAYS!;if you look back on Owens match and listen to Jerrys commentary you could see the love and passion he had for Owen.regardless.
I miss Heel King Lawler on WWE commentary. But just like Heel Triple H, I learned to live without and be cool. Thanks Pete, for conducting interviews with wrestlers on a hip hop station.
Glad we see humble King here ..his other half
i feel bad for Jerry he seen death alot.. like man
Wow nice insight on Jerry Lawler and Jim Carrey's relationship
thanks jerry
Great guy great wrestler. Long live the king
more!!
Lawler gave The Rock some of his first matches before he came to the WWE. Also, Lawler was the first guy to job to Mark Henry. Just super saiyan.
I take Rosenberg's wrestling interviews more seriously than his hip hop/rap ones.
Long live the king love you Lawler :)
He is a great guy. I remember that night.
you the best rosenberg, you're the shawn michaels of wwe interviewers
Hey I just met, Jerry at Kroger, today, got his autograph!! :0
Lawler wasn't supposed to be the one to get revenge. Remember when HHH "broke" JR's arm and Steve Austin proceeded to unleash hell on him? The point was to make us beg to see Punk and Heyman get theirs-- between that, JR appreciation night, etc, and being champion so long, beating Cena, Ryback, etc,... the payoff was Punk/Rock at the RR. Kayfabe wise, even if Lawler tried to go after Heyman, Punk would have cut him off at the pass and hurt him big time. There was no hole in that booking.
wow, I'm a little shocked they didn't even tell Lawler in advance about the fake Heyman heart attack, but relieved that The King wasn't bothered by it
damn i love this man!
Would have been cool if they would have talked about Randy Savage in Memphis. Given the effect that Lawler had on Savage's career and how big of a Savage fan Rosenberg is.
Oh yeah, he had some good jabs at Stu. i remember a comment he made at Survivor Series in '94 i think, where he said, " When Stu Hart was young, the Dead sea was sick!"
cool another episode.
why not? he was a great wrestler and maybe one of his favorites. he wants to know more information about the night of his death and personal stories from these wrestlers
Jerry Lawler should have had a piece of the WWE belt in early 93 at least. After Ric Flair's departure Lawler quickly established himself as the top heel to go face to face with Bret Hart. Would have drew huge ratings and made huge money. Without a doubt Lawler, Flair, Hogan and Hart were 4 big icons who all deserved a good amount of time as WWE Champion.
Wrestling with Rosenberg awesome shit
Good interview, I keep forgetting how crazy of a life Lawler has had. When are you going to get your BFF Mark Henry on??
i love the jerry lawler in the late 90s and early 2000's when he was a heel commentator but now he kisses ass to cena but he still a cool dude :)

Best Wrestler Ever! Top 5 at least. Miss Memphis.
Rosenberg does the best WWE interviews. Think you should do Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus or Wade Barrett next
That Jim Carey story is gold!
I didn't really see the fake heart attack thing with Paul Heyman as "showing attitude." Attitude and extreme in the past consisted of being more violent, risque storylines, foul language, sexual innuendos, etc. Not poking fun at a real life heart attack. That goes beyond "wrestling heat." Especially when Lawler never got his revenge on either of them, even in kayfabe.
He has won more wrestling titles than anyone in his career.
He fell onto the top rope just by the turnbuckle, then was thrown onto the mat. He severed his Aorta and basically bled to death internally.
I see your point, but disagree slightly. The particular segment actually turned me off to the product completely for a while. When Michael Cole was a heel going against Lawler, yes, you wanted to see Cole get his ass kicked. But the Punk/Heyman segment was different in the sense that it made a lot of fans not want to support the product, more than it made them want to see them get their comeuppance. Seeing Punk get a kayfabe beatdown from Rock isn't adequate revenge for a real life mocking IMO.
Jerry!!!!!!
Jerry Lawler, Bobby Heenan and Jessee Ventura are the best commentators wrestling ever had
When it cuts to Lawler, look behind him. Shit myself.
the little boy in the background is creepy

what boy? ;)
he hit the turnbuckle post first like the ropes or metal post
Curt is in his own league. Nobody compares to him.
More wrestling interviews now
I honestly think either Shane or Paul Heyman should take control. Or the both of them together. But that's just nostalgia talk because at the end of the day no matter how horrible it gets you will STILL watch it every Monday night.
The King and Thr Brain tied for best HEEL announcers of ALL TIME!
rosenberg likes wrestling? is this why he turns heel in his hip hop interviews
Long live the King!
King is still one of the greatest talents in the wrestling universe. Long live the King!!
"I heard Stu Hart went into an Antique Store and they kept him." -Jerry Lawler LMAO!

I remember him saying that about Helen. LOL
Long live the King
Wow, I never knew he and Bret Hart had a fued going. I loved the old fued between him and Ric Flair.
Somehow I get the feeling that Rosenberg referring to someone in another company 'mailing it it' as RVD in TNA. Just a few months later, he's gone from TNA and about to re-debut in WWE. Am I alone in that?
Holy crap.
You have too think, those ropes have elevator cables inside them, so i guess the speed with which he was falling, plus almost hitting the turnbuckle then hitting the mat at a high rate of speed would've done some major internal damage, his heart blew up on impact with the mat
Jerry is the best
Agree x100
"You never mail it in" hahaha right
I want to get into TNA I really do. I was a fan of them when they were still in the NWA, and they may have a roster that might be top to bottom better wrestlers than what WWE has now, and the Aces and Eights storyline it works. However, I feel like I am watching WCW at the very end. The two main male champions are over 40 (failed singles wrestlers at WWE) and Hulk Hogan has input into storylines. I want them to succeed it would make WWE and TNA better.
LOADS of respect for Lawler. It's unfortunate how much crap he gets for his commentary now.
Jim Ross and Jerry king best commentary team of all time Back in his wrestling days fans would make fun of him by calling him "Burger King Burger King"
15:42 .... Sorry that kid in the window is freaking me out
