    +Paola Ramirez It was a few dark years in 91 and 92. All 93 had was the Chronic. I would say 80-90.

  • @nathanosterhaus

    @nathanosterhaus

    8 жыл бұрын

    +clark4023 The Chronic came out in 1992 and you are forgetting about artists like, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Digable Planets, Wu-Tang Clan, Gang Starr, Black Moon, Souls of Mischief, Lords of the Underground, Nas, Biggie and pretty much most of the hip hop that was coming out of NYC and the east coast at the time, all 93-94. Many of these artist made records before and after 93/94 as well. I wouldn't even consider Wrecks-N-Effect to be hip hop. They were way too "pop" for the real hip hop heads. The "dark years" as you say, were the real years, REAL HIP HOP!

  • @clark4023

    @clark4023

    +Nathan Osterhaus You realize that Tribe, De La, Gang Starr and others you named started in the 80's. It wasn't that I was saying it was completely bad...like now, it wasn't what we were use to coming out of the golden years of the 80's. And the Chornic was 93. It released singles in 92 but the alblum release was 93.

    +sonikku956 You are more wrong than I have ever seen any one ever! Yes, there is such a thing as real hip hop and that is not what hip hop was created for. It was created to be a voice for a community that otherwise had no way to express themselves. It was a way to be heard. Not created to be party music. You should listen to the founders and talk to them, they are still alive. Hip Hop came from the political movements of the late 60's and 70's. There were some who used it during party times, but all music conscious or political was played at parties.

    Mannnnnnn, I'm a GROWN FOLK at 43 & lots of you younger macks out there doesn't know what is a "new jack swing" & since Wrecks & Effect did that one at the Apollo Theatre "Uptown" in Harlem 125th Street & if I'm not mistaken that Sinbad hosted "It's Showtime At The Apollo" on WNBC 4 NYC. It was Teddy Riley who got them going on & also, BET "Video Vibrations" got me started along with "Video Music Box" with Uncle Ralph McDaniels when y'all wasn't even born yet. Heavy D in the video from Mount Vernon, N.Y. awww man, the UPTOWN fam, missed him forever.

    Damnnnn! So wrapped up in hiphop! I taught hiphop til I was almost 60yrs old. I moved to a military base. Continued, til my kids grew up. My neighbors' children! The parents loved the physical activity, learning to ride bikes, double dutch. Hell, I'm still here. Ain't got kids! Only, on long weekends, holidays! Pictures! Phones mean a lot to an adopted Mama San!
