those are the people who chase world race not for the actual prestige, expecting to be top 10 or anything; they just want to get the shiny weapons and fancy gear to AFK in Limsa

I like that Lima is basically the Tortuga of FFXIV. Makes sense, since it’s pirate town.

12:00 As someone in chat mentioned it was Kerafyrm the Sleeper; the main reason it is (in)famous outside of being an impossible boss is that the devs actually despawned it over three hours in when they realised the kill was actually going to happen - citing "unintentional use of game mechanics" or something of the like. The devs respawned the boss the next day and apologised, allowing the players to have a second try at it. The other thing that makes the kill especially notable is that it took place on a PvP server, using an alliance of three top level, rival guilds.

@@Cyril86 Undoubtedly better than FFXI's, it was designed to be genuinely impossible and players knew that fact. The players in question just took it upon themselves to try anyway. There is a theory floating around that the devs had no clue what would happen in the case that Kerafyrm died, and by extension despawned it to avoid any potential gamebreaking issues, tested it and then put it live again. FFXI on the other hand was just intentionally obtuse and drawn out

@@Tojozomi Oh, yeah, if the players knew it was meant to be impossible, then that's different. Despawning the boss in the middle of a pull was a real dick move, though.

​@@Cyril86Kyrafym was much worse than any boss in FFXI. In general EverQuest was tougher than FFXI overall. Before all the recent slice of life additions. And the fight took them much longer than 3 hours. When the GMs despawned Kyrafym it caused a complete uproar in the EQ community. While they did return it and allow them to complete the kill, they Also removed any loot table as they were still being adamant that it was never meant to be defeated. It was supposed to just be a world changing event.

My FC leader is a Gillionaire. He spend 95% of his gametime checking the marketboard prices on every sever. But good thing, he gives out 0% loan to FC members for buying houses.

Parties are 99% just people dancing, there's always some shady corner but its no limsa and its not as bad as balmung quicksands.

@@starofaetherius I'm not, got into the WoW free trial for a bit then tried ff14 and didn't go back, a while after was when people started leaving WoW so I was glad I left lol on top of the fact that people shit on my favorite class and would refuse it in groups because it did slightly lower damage than the others

Had the “Cat Boy Band” in grid aetherite like a week ago on Exodus

FFXI is still very much alive, but our player base has dwindled since the peak days of the early 2000s. Fun fact, FFXI is older than WOW, if only by 9 months. Kinda wish they would do a dual sub so XIV players could come hang with us.

I was called out with FF11. I played it for 8 years since launch. I wouldn't shut up about how my ultima weapon took 3 years to farm and I was there for that boss that took us so many hours. And we also had a huge drama from it.

Same. I played FF11 for a little over 11 years, tried the FF14 1.0 beta and hated it. Finally had friends convince me to try the 2.0 beta and I moved over to playing ff14 full time.

Same here! But I didn’t finish it. I played it for years and got through most of the DLCs up to Abyssea. But FF14 is a far superior game.

FFXI is still live and healthy, they finished a story arc 2 months ago and it still receives updates every month. I find new players every day, kinda insane

Balmung quicksands is even more suspicious.....

Hmm. A (un)healthy mix between Casual and FFXI (Pup/Blu solo LB+CB+MB for the win) player lol. So much so I call Roes as Galkas, Miqos as Mithras and Lalas as Tarus and Hyur as Hume and the giraffe Elezen are just de-evolved Brontobro Elvaans.

Ah #6, my guild vice is one of those cultists, to the point he wanted to kick me out of the FC because i said Shadowbringers > Endwalker, and when asked i provided valid points for why i disliked it (especially the main boss of the xpac), but he was utterly convinced i was wrong and if the game had followed the direction i would have wanted it to follow i would hate it, because he knew better what I would enjoy, despite us never getting along (because he is a self-centered asshole). Great times.

Interesting. I’m a hybrid of Codex, Role Player and FF11 player but I don’t exactly fit into either category neatly. I keep my RPing to myself, I try to be the best player I can and acknowledge FF14 is by far the superior game.

The freakiest things I’ve ever seen (in a main city) were at ~2-3am in New Gridania.

Absolute Virtue was the ff11 boss only beaten a handfull of times buy a select few players/groups. The game was bigger than anything else ive seen but it really hasnt held up over time... it honestly looks bad. I will always have a softspot for it as i played it hardcore for 12+ years... oof!

Depends on which server you are on tbh. Some servers is definitely heavy on raiding and the raiders will claim a spot in limsa to show off what they got. But you also have a lot of people who just vibe in limsa to be social and cause chaos (me) it’s also called the limsa curse. Limsa sucks some people in and they never leave ARR expansion. I don’t touch the hardcore stuff and usually chill in limsa to cause chaos with my lala 😂. Unless new story drop or a cool new content … I’ll leave limsa then XD.

FF11 is insanely slow and has godawful menus. But its artstyle, stories, characters, expansions, music, grand class/job customizations are all absolutely superb. I wish there was a modernized remastered single player version of it. Was gonna have a remake but got cancelled.

I love LucyPyre videos, she has some really good ones and is a great singer as well. This one was actually quite good and i'm suprised i've missed it before. Anyway, stay alway from Limsa for now, for your own sanity and run from that party u are going to attend at once when everyone gets naked.

I play on Elemental Data Center and... to be honest I haven't seen alot of people RPing, not sure if it's because cultural region differences. *shrugs*

real toxic in wow is just before mythic raiding when everyone's gear scores are just under or just passable and the 2 of them are at each others throats over it it's also in pvp but that's more or less blizzards fault for not making pvp accessible for new player ( enjoy that 8 month grind just to be at the start line). My favorite is the people who call mythic raiders that have a premade they always run with toxic cause they wont let a rando join

99% of the ffxiv playerbase probably fall under the cultist category lol

russ little warning becareful with some ff14 players they are some that hate streamers and ex wow players that disrupt players experience. they did this too asmon trying too push him to do the story. this is from my experience i will soon be 3 years in ff14 my 3 year anniversary if you need any tips ask djayams he's a ex wow player that became a dj and i'm also a dj in ff XD

Players that do that usually get punished by the GMs really damn quick though. Most of the players who griefed Asmongold had their accounts either Suspended or outright Banned depending on the severity of the griefing. The GMs take griefing and toxic behavior really seriously and they have a very dim view of people who behave in such a manner. Alert a GM to such a problem if it happens and chances are they'll investigate and act on it pretty quickly.
