If the world made any sense these guys would be way bigger than they are now. Their album Signs of life (2005) is still freaking amazing.

The fact they formed after Sam Lake handed Marko a poem and asked him to write a song from it for Max Payne 2 is one of those tricks of Fate. That such an incredible group and level of talent could be assembled based on a minor background/end-theme for a video game and they explode into one of the really fantastic sounds out there... I still feel Signs of Life is their best album, but I could never say there is a POTF song I hate. They are all good, and everyone has their favorites.

Marko has such great control of his voice. Nothing overdone. After this you need to to see and hear "Angel" live in Aleksander Theatre in Helsinki. Acoustic performance with piano. This is no 7 of sessions of 10.

Varsinainen ääniala varmaankin baritoni, mutta joissain kappaleissa Markon falsetto jaksaa vieläkin kummastuttaa, koska se todellakin toimii puhtaasti ja hän saa mukavasti laajennettua äänialaansa käyttämällä sitä. Ja laulaminen falsetossa ei ole mitenkään helppoa. Tavallinen kadun tallaaja kuten minä, kuulostaisin joltain kukon kiekumisen ja sirkkelin väliltä jos yrittäisin:P

Poets of the Fall is a Finnish Alternative rock-indie rock-post-grunge band since 2003 with the Singer Marko Saaresto having a great baritone male voice with good technique and being able to sing purely and very long falsetto, that voice coaches are surprised. Their break or global hit song is the “Carnival of Rust” that you just watched. Also great one is the “Poets of the Fall - Alexander Theatre Sessions. There they play only a singer and a piano or some acoustic instruments in an old early 1800s theatre in Helsinki with it’s great acoustics. One of the best music videos I have ever seen. His bass-baritone voice is classically trained and I highly recommend for you to check this song called Angel from their Alexander Theater Sessions. Just a piano and that gorgeous voice. Also, I would like to hear your thoughts of Requiem For My Harlequin from their latest album.

taking into consideration what you said, definitely find Skin. That is on their Temple of Thought album- his voice is exquisite, emotional. No official video but it is on youtube.

My favorite Poets of the Fall: "False Kings". Followed by ""Requiem for my Harlequin" and this "Carnival of Rust". But I don't know near all of their songs.

Love me some POTF! Fell in love with them when playing Max Payne, I would always stop the slaughtering of criminals when near a radio to listen to some Poets for a while.

Loooove Markos voice. And as Ritta Sihvonen already has suggested, you absolutely need to check the song Angel. There he really showcases his voice. It's my favourite song by them.

Very nice reaction from both of you! This band is one of my all time favorites, not just 'cos they are from Finland, but 'cos what they do. We have had some bands to breakout to wider audience before like The Rasmus and Nightwish etc... but in a alternative rock side this is the best so far from us.

I don't usually comment older videos but maybe you still see this. The music video has more in it that many knows. It was voted as best music video back in the day btw. But what is hidden in it, is every song title of the album. Like the tattoo you meantioned. It says Delicious which is one of the song titles.

Another dark one is CHOICE MILLIONARE It's hard topick one I have purchased 11 of their discs

If you watch close, every song title from this album is represented in the Carnival video.

Definitely Daze, Temple of Thought and Skin. They are some good ones to listen to.

The gas mask my represent a toxic relationship.

Right, these swirls are reflected on her gasmask lenses a few times in video, she eats the same pattern in the lollipop. She is hypnotized, meserised. The gasmask is blocking all her senses, she can't hear the fortune teller banging the glass, trying to wake her up.
