This artistic video is from the year 2006. It even won some prizes. POTF has been quite internationally famous band almost two decades for now. Very professional and versatile band. Marko Saaresto's voice is unique, especially his falsetto is beautiful. He's also native English speaker, because his mother is a Brit. Excellent pick from you. ⛄👍

I cannot recommend this band enough - yes they're not your typical 'heavy' Finnish band but musically there are countless examples of just really good stuff and Marko is an amazing vocalist.

This is a song about obsessive love. The gas mask symbolised that she was taking precautions against toxic relationships. But he spotted her vulnerability and tries to capture her heart in a cunning way but to no avail in the end.

I think this isn't just one of the best bands ever from Finland, but it is in general huge band with their mixed multilayered sounds and of course the lead singer has a very strong voice.

You guys are on a roll... A nice surprise to see you do Poets of the Fall. This song is haunting, and amazing. Once again I was lucky enough to see them live in Atlanta a few years ago at ProgPower USA. They were a nice surprise, an indie rock band at a progressive/power Metal festival. The promoter (Glenn) was a big fan of theirs, so he wanted them there that year.... Keep up the great work you two! Keep Rockin' Eh!

The story with the cards [beside his booth] tell a very very sad tale that weaves with the symbolism through the video. The realization of love, loss of innocence, the yearn for the wrong thing, running out of chances, getting what you want but not what you need and realizing what you've done but it's too late; the damage has been done and opportunities lost

Here's my take on the video and what it means. The circus itself is very sinister and seems almost predatory with the imagery and how the performers are presented, and the fortune teller is not any better. His song isn't a ballad of sincerely loving and wanting to be with a woman he cares about, it is him demanding that this woman has to love him because he's decided she is his savior who will pull him from his miserable and decrepit position. It's even shown in the Tarot reading he does, the Star portraying her as a savior or beacon of hope and healing and the Nine of Swords representing his misery and despair he insists she is meant to save him from. "I need you. Without you I have nothing, so I am demanding that you love me so that I can be be fixed and escape this place." The opening lyrics make this pretty clear, since once the prose is deciphered it's basically him saying "You definitely share my obsessive and greedy idea of love and don't fault me for pushing this desperate fixation on you, don't you?" The creepy carnival barker at the game the woman is drawn to who is clearly just eager to get money from her is played by the singer as well, seemingly symbolizing how self-interested and dysfunctional his idea of love and desire to have somebody take him away from his problems actually is. The woman being in a gas mask to me also has some symbolism, showing the circus as a literally toxic environment and hinting at how the fortune teller doesn't even see her face as an individual beyond the love and obsession he is projecting onto her even as she backs up in seeming fright once the chorus kicks in with his direct demand and her attention gets drawn elsewhere while he gets more desperate as his perceived only chance to escape his misery leaves him to rust.

I enjoy your videos on POTF, and occasionally come back to see some of them again. I know time is an issue, but if you could swing it, it would be fun to see you re-watch some of the earliest videos of POTF that you reacted to in light of all the songs you've listened to and reviewed since your introduction to the band. What do you think of Marko's voice? Is it better suited for one type of song as opposed to another? The guitars, drums and keyboards? Anything new there that you've picked up on? How about the diversity of their music? What would you say about that? All of that kind of thing. You've watched and reviewed a lot of POTF videos. A retrospective would be fun! (I still get choked up when Ginger gets choked up during "Dancing on Broken Glass").

Yes I agree the sound is beautiful...damn it every song of them has a nice sound overall but what's more interesting is the lyrical structure of this song! It's impressively written for a finnish guy and having this excellent vocabulary for a finnish guy is impressive... In The chorus he alternatively talks about lust and love if you'll listen that single line makes you think multiple instances! There are very few greats to achieve this some examples are TOOL , IRON MAIDEN, DIO. "Just go through this verse! It's all a game, avoiding failure When true colors will bleed All in the name of misbehavior And the things we don't need I lust for after no disaster can touch Touch us anymore And more than ever I hope to never fall Where enough is not the same it was before " you'll see the genius of this song! They put the lyrics in their vids because they clearly want us to connect with it!

Poets of the fall are an amazing band, been a fan for a very long time, check out a band called the old gods of Asgard, it's the same members but under a different name when they did the soundtrack for a game called Alan wake, it's more rock oriented and the guitarist really let's loose on those solos, I highly recommend a song called children of the elder god
