This reaction just showed up on my KZread page. I have been following this young woman for about 8 years now, and I always enjoy seeing first reactions, and following a new "Angels" journey. Angelina refers to her fans as Angels. I enjoyed your reaction very much, and then went back and found your first one, and watched and liked it also. I am subscribing, and I look forward to many more of these reactions, as hers are the only ones I watch. You will soon learn that there is no one that Angelina is afraid to cover, and no genre that she can't sing. Jazz, Blues, Country, Rock, EDM and in one of her newest originals titled "Diamond", she even does a few lines of what some have called Rap. She does Adele, better than Adele, in my opinion. Frank, Elvis, James Brown, Amy Winehouse, Tom Jones, she covers them all, or as one Angel stated, "Angelina doesn't cover songs, she uncovers them." I'm nearing 70 years old and Angelina, in my opinion, sings with more feeling and emotion than anyone I have ever heard. I find myself constantly wiping my leaking eyes. She also interprets songs that I have 'heard' since I was young, so that I now actually hear the words. You will be getting flooded by her Angels with requests. I look forward to your journey. 🙏

I hope you didn't expect the same voice as Fly Me to the Moon, she is the girl with 1000 voices. She does Billie Holliday, Elvis, Amy,Adele, Etta James and more and more and more. Just start at Norway's Got Talent, do all 4 songs. Every thing she sings will shock you. Enjoy😊

As you could see in the beginning she wrote notes to the band... She is the boss here. :) And as she has been singing since the age of 1.5 years - there is no words needed.

9years old here, yes her musical understanding puts her in the genuine prodigy catagory, yes the band was great, a group of seasoned professionals and they called her "The Boss", an absolute respect title.

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

If you go strictly sequential, you'll never catch up. But if you go one or two songs per year of age to see the progression, that may work for you. From personal experience, I found it doesn't matter in terms of quality. Some may think that once they've seen her newer songs they won't want to go back. If she keeps improving, why go back to lesser performances. With Angelina that is not the case. There is a different feeling to her earlier work, but it is just as (and in some cases even more) awesome. For example, she has performed Bohemian Rhapsody several times, but in my opinion, she has never improved on her AGT performance. Then again, with Unchained Melody, she keeps reaching new heights. At age 10 she never missed amazing me. The same when she was 12. Pick any age and you'll be amazed.

She just had her Las Vegas debut at the Westgate (where Elvis performed), she opened for Norah Jones at age 11, Quincy Jones at 12 for his 85th birthday concert in London and many others have had her perform. QJ said she reminded him of Michael Jackson at that age. Her parents were very careful to limit her performing so she could finish school (early, of course) and she is the youngest published author in Norway. Does she seem to be too good to be true? She is true. I met her in Vegas and she is amazingly humble and sweet. Enjoy watching her.

This was my first introduction to AJ a few years back. I could tell instantly that there's something special about her.

Any one of her young performances are a trip to the vocal land of the impossible. Thanks for supporting her!!!

Music is all about how it makes you feel. Angelina said music found her by the time she was 18 months. She feels the emotions of each song and creates her own arrangements to convey the emotions she feels. Angelina is my all time favorite singer storyteller and is the only one to make me cry. The only things which exceed her musical talents are her humility and empathy.

Angelina was singing at 18 months old.

Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to sing for the whole world, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. I thought it was mentioned by one of us Angels in your last reaction, the reason. Why she does not wear shoes when singing is because when she was living in the Middle east when she was 6 , she met a homeless girl about her age with no shoes and cuts on her foot on a cold and wet day who was weighing people with a bathroom scale for $ to support her siblings. Angelina started talking to her and ended up taking her own favorite boots off and gave it to the girl. From then she vowed not to wear shoes on stage until children poverty is addressed. ❤❤❤❤

She is special. Her concert debut in Vegas was the best musical experience of my life. It doesn't matter, young or old Angelina. My favorite song by her is usually the last song that I've listened to. She will surprise you every time. The barefoot Princess is a girl with a thousand voices. Above all I've never experienced a singer who touches my heart like Angelina.❤

I know she was seven when she recorded I who have nothing. It is possible she was six when she recorded the Adele song in the studio as she seems smaller and less skilled at that point.

She’s incredible at every age

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne-type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). An old soul in a young body - many reactors have said the same. Eventually check out one of her new tracks, "Now I'm the Fool" or "Love Don't Let Me Go" and compare. My wife said she sounds like a cross between Adele and Amy Winehouse. She has a long, bright future ahead for sure.

She arranges all her music. In the studio she is known as the Boss because she knows what she wants.

So glad you decided to check out more Angelina. Do it however you like. Just when you think you know her voice, she'll throw something else at you. You'll always recognize AJ, but props are always given to the artist she covers. Her originals also give us something from those who came before, but it's always, ultimately, Angelina. I liked someone's idea of a few at each age range so we don't have to wait a year to watch you react to Bohemian Rhapsody or Suspicious Minds, or I Have Nothing, or Now I'm the Fool, or Love Don't Let Me Go, or Diamond,or Unchained Melody. lol. But we want you to stay and go back again as well. Make it fun for you. We'll enjoy it however. Great reaction Zack. You get it the same as the rest of us Angels. There is something very special about our Angelina which is hard to explain. For me the only explanation that makes sense is that you don't listen to her sing but you absorb the music she creates.

Not to mention, she arranges the music…

She has to be a prodigy, a genius...I mean, to have that much awareness at such a young age and the desire of what she want to do and be, is not normal for that age...She also seems to have such confidence and know what she's capable of, especially when it comes to song writing and arrangements, she HAS to be a prodigy...

lol that’s the barefoot princess. The paper you saw her writing on was her doing the arrangement to this song because she does them herself. Every time you see her, she will be barefoot. She wrote a book about why she performs barefoot it is absolutely a heartwarming story. Which made her the youngest published author in Norway. This girl is absolutely an angel sent from heaven. The most remarkable artist and a big generation!

This was the first video I saw of Angelina... Still love it.

Thank you for featuring Angelina again. I hope you will continue to do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZread, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

It is still one of my top 3 favorite Angelina recordings.

She understands the nuances that artists twice her age took years to get. The very seasoned and fantastic band call her Boss out of respect. My favorite is when she did Stay by Rhianna when she was 11. It's gorgeous ❤

Since it's a talent show, and the songs are shorted perhaps combine Angelina's first two performances in one reaction and the semis and finals performances in a second reaction. The montage videos of all four performances together leave out too much information.

For the love of God please stop repeating the completely unverified story that mom didn’t like the subject matter in this song. We know she cut a demo. The demo was not her property. Someone decided to put this awesome song on KZread instead of it just dying in a drawer somewhere. Thank god they did. That’s about all we really know.

I think catching a song (at least one) from each year (7, 8, 9, 10, etc) is worth the effort but if you just go through her playlist from very young to. lets say 16 you will be here for a long time as she has covered at least 150 songs not including originals. She started singing at one and a half years old and she started with jazz,, and English is not her native language. She plays about four musical instruments and writes music. And she wrote a book about why she sings barefoot..her first studio recording was at six years old, (wrapped in a warm blanket) has a Documentary of her beginning to 13 years old, it shows a video of her singing at one and a half years old a Whitney Houston song,, ,, she won Norway got talent at 7-8 years old, she had a birthday during it,, she also was on American got talent at 13 years old,, her birthday is January 10th, and this year she turned 18,, she wrote a song about her grandfather who passed,, her eyes are beautiful and brown color,, but she moved to California and likes to wear blue contacts, which does look nice,, when learning about her it's best to start with her youngest years first and watch her videos from the beginning to end,, and not cut to only her singing because you will miss her talking and miss information ,, I will love to watch you react to her music and interviews,, like on the View she tells everyone how young she was when she started singing,, and what kind of music,, love your reaction!!

She has fans all over the world and they are known as Angels and Angelina is known as the barefoot princess as you will find out! She is a timeless, vintage and nostalgic singer from the past brought back from the heavens.to give us the true measure of jazz/ pop genre in music as you will find out in many of her videos. Singing since the age of one and a half in the crib and listening to her mentors such as Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra and all her modern mentors like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Norah Jones and the great Elvis Presley. Angelina you will find is a combination of all these great voices in her beautiful voice and she can pull out any of these at any time and sound like any of them but always will be Angelina Jordan. She is the real deal and now at 18 is just spicing up the global marketplace being in mainstreet music and no doubt in the coming years will unfold into the superstar that she always has been . A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZread. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Angelina had barely turned 9 in the video and that’s still not the beginning. Her public debut was her audition on Norway’s Got Talent at age 7. It was recorded in late 2013 but aired in early 2014. If you want to see a progression then i recommend that you hold off on the 10 Years In The Making Video for now. Although it has a few early clips it’s primarily a behind the scenes of her recent Las Vegas concerts. Once you get to really know Angelina the documentary will be more meaningful. You mentioned her bare feet. I’m sure a fan or two has mentioned or will fill you in on the story as to why she always performs barefoot. And it’s not to be grounded.
