Would you drive $90,000 of STEALTH WEALTH?! | 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition Review
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is my full in-depth review of the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition! Like this video if you enjoyed it and remember to subscribe AND ring the bell for more content! Thanks for watching everyone!
This SUV is an icon! There are countless off road enthusiasts that respect this vehicle because of its subtle luxury and it's off road capabilities! This vehicle first came to America in the 1958 and became an instant hit! This Heritage Edition gives a nod to the off road appearance the original was known for. Deleted running boards, deleted 3rd row, bronze BBS wheels, dark chrome, and a roof basket are a few things that Toyota did to make this SUV feel even more special and rugged.

*Edited* Just to clarify, I meant to say 1958 not 1980’s. The Land Cruiser came to America in 1958. Sorry my brain is mush. Thanks for watching though! Hope the health of my viewers is tip top! Having a little bit of money to buy a nice Toyota is not the same as driving a really up market Mercedes. Most people will automatically recognise the Mercedes as being an expensive car but not the Toyota, Nissan, VW or Ford which can cost just as much money.

@bighands69 funny, while I do think of Mercedes as expensive new, I also look and them and think they are cheap, because they are so scrappy they depreciate to less than a better quality vehicle almost instantly
I already know the answers and maybe it's because I'm old, however, EVERY single vehicle review I've seen on KZread is purely style over substance. They never talk about anything that is not already very easily viewed on Google (fuel economy, ground clearance, V6 with 300hp, etc.) or by pulling up the owner's manual. If I were in the market for a Land Cruiser (or any vehicle), I would want to know things like, Does it have a timing belt or a timing chain? How easy (or difficult) is it to access the water pump? (because that is going to give you an idea of the $$$ of any type of major engine repairs). Is it an interference engine? Solid front axles or IFS? Trans fluid dipstick? Are there any vulnerable areas (fuel tank, starter, alternator, etc.) underneath the vehicle which are NOT protected by skid plates? What's the powertrain warranty. What's the corrosion warranty? What's the service schedule for primary components? Does the mfg call for premium fuel? No need to watch a video to determine whether a vehicle has Apple Car Play or has LED headlights. 21st Century America. Style "Hey, here's a cute little cubbyhole to store your iphone" over substance.

agreed... though, if really desired, one could dive deep in the web to find those things
Think about ot this way: you pay 90 grand for a car that you will pass down to your sons or daughters, and they will pass it down to their sons and daughters.

I'm with you 100% , my father had a 100 series and literally the only maintenance oil change every 7k miles with time to time going seriously off road. Sold it with 290k miles for a very good price. These cars are made to be driven forever. My dad used to joke how Toyota is still staying in business when no car is braking 😄
I own a 2013, bought it slightly pre-owned. It's been ROCK SOLID. 103k miles on it. I'll have this for at least 300k miles, minimum. The only negative thing I have for it, and it's very minor overall, is the fuel economy. I average around 13.5mpg, but I have a small lift (BP51) and 275/70R18 on stock rims. I ABSOLUTELY love it. Before the Land Cruiser, I had Jeeps. As much as I really like the new Jeep Wrangler and especially Gladiator, they are so cheaply put together now days. My first Jeep was an 03 TJ, with 25k in modifications (60s, PSC, Poison Spyder everything-was a SEMA Jeep). 110k miles and all I had to do was occasionally replace the bushings in my aftermarket long arms. My second Jeep was an 11. At 3k miles, I had a transmission failure (6MT). After that, constant minor electrical problems like issues with the locks and windows not working, the radio buttons on the steering wheel not working, and other issues like constant engine pinging with the 3.8L. At this point, the only thing that would steer me away from my current 200 is the 300. I really love the 2016-2020 design, but not enough to buy a new one. Theres really no need at this point. Thanks for the great review! Finally, a reviewer that really understands the Land Cruiser.

Fuel economy is always something mentioned. I don't think you can he poor to own one in terms of fuel, but then you save on repair costs which say a Range Rover or Audi Q7 would create before a Land Cruiser...
Another stellar review, Forrest! Well done on the editing and content organization. Despite it's age, the Land Cruiser manages to still be a somewhat compelling offering.
❤️ this review! I’m a LC newbie...Best review I’ve seen so far. Thx for helping me find the tailgate compartments!! I have the black heritage edition and overall def stealth! It’s like low key luxury...low key off-roading capabilities... hard to explain to non LC enthusiasts, but the BEST vehicle...smooth drive, and reliable, and amazing 4x4...
This is a great review! You are thorough and your observations make sense.

I’ve been binging on Toyota off road vehicles lately. I’ve got to say, you’re becoming one of my favorite car reviewers/testers. Thanks for the uploads!!
I am enjoying so much the way you review this car man, so calm and details. Like it!!
Love the title stealth wealth haha this car really is that. Great review my friend
Digging this review! I just had a Land Cruiser to test last week, and I really enjoyed it (even though it's $90k!!). I think you hit the nail on the head: it's capability and mystique make it worth it. It might not be for everyone, but it's a very special car. I'm just jealous I didn't have the Heritage edition to test! Haha!
Ive been wanting one of these since your last LC review. Great review really appreciate it, esp the night/lighting views.

I will love to see the heritage with a third row because it would be so much fun when you are going for a long journey with your large family in the wild with the heritage with the third row included...
One of the best Toyota LC200 review video on KZread! The LC200HE on the waterfall got be damn thristy
Great review .. Thank you !
Love our '20 Land Cruiser. We did not get the Heritage edition. With kids, we use the "cool box" a lot on long trips and it saves us cooler space too. I wouldn't mind the rims and badging off the Heritage edition!
I just bought one. We also have a 2000. Love them.
Manual E-Brake is so useful. Great for sliding around a corner in the snow :) LOVE the e-brake.
I enjoyed your review. I have a 4runner but considering a Land Cruiser in the future. Every time I see a Land Cruiser which is very rare on the road for some reason, I’ll get excited lol
Second row higher for better road viewing. I suffer from rear seat sicknesses so very glad with being able to view.
Wow really nicely done!
Hey black demuro you are not bad. Nice review 👌
Sitting higher in the back than the front is an old ladder frame truck thing and they call it “stadium view” since you are able to see past the driver to the road ahead. The land rovers always advertised that even their 3rd rows had “stadium sitting”, and they still do today with the discovery 5 ( they still advertise I mean) even though its no longer a ladder frame truck, because the second row would be higher than drivers and the 3rd row would be higher than 2nd row. everyone had a good view of the front. This is a VERY nice thing when youre out on a trail, to be able to see whats going on without everyone fighting for the center view at the same time.
Amazing video my friend...thank you stay safe out there !! 😃👍

Great video. That’s my dream truck
Fine review of a great machine. I find it remarkable that the one vehicle in their fleet that doesn't have Apple Carplay is this one, and that the electronics themselves are from at least 5 years ago. Better cameras and better software for the head unit are found in their less expensive vehicles. While many wouldn't question it because it's so good in other key areas, the fact remains that the buyer spends 85-90 K for ancient tech.

You can add CarPlay for around $1,200 installed, just not factory. Agree it’s a pain but at least there is a work around. Think it’s called NaviPlus, there is a thread about it on ih8mud for those interested.

At 9:52 - you mention the headlight washers not working. I believe the headlights must be turned on for the washers to function.
I bought the black heritage yesterday, still figuring it out. It’s so smooth and comfortable I can’t wait to take it to the mountains. I wish it had the console cooler and better mpg. Great review, thank you. I had to remove yakama basket as I hit the top of my garage door pulling in.

Yes. Yes I would. It's my dream vehicle. In the meantime I sport a 2010 LX570, but with LC rims! Baby steps.
man your voice is a lot more listenable than Doug DeMuro haha
# 1 : There is NOTHING better than a Land Cuiser # 2: If you have the money to buy it and appreciate the culture behind it, you shouldn’t complain about the gas mileage, and if you do, you don’t deserve a Heritage Land Cruiser
Good lawd this video was a great job.
Best reviewer.
I like this review. It was really nice. I want to know that as the toyota is going to discontinue land cruiser in US , will the existing models still available in US further?
Good review. I like the white better because it's more classic. The black one is more luxurious in my mind, but to be honest I wouldn't off road either, too expensive. Then again, if I had the money, this would be a must have for me.
For the price, they really cheaped out on rear end of the car. The tail lights couldve been a lot better
Thanks for your review. Beautiful vehicle, although I'm not a fan of the bronze wheels or the hood design. Drove one and found the valley in the middle of the hood distracting. May be the only person with that complaint, lol. It did drive like a Lexus SUV.
Not sure if it's because your camera has a stabiliser but that inside footage of you driving looked smooth af
Why do youngsters say "Toyota" like it's an economy-car? Toyota's have ALWAYS been the #1 auto manufacturers as far as quality and reliability. They are the 'mercedes' of our era (ie back when mercs were built to go to a million miles) 90k for a TOYOTA is to be expected. Toyota makes the most reliable cars, everyone knows that... and they come at a PRICE
Paint the grill black, change the rims and tires and that's it. But I would like a third row though so get a loaded one instead.
worth every dollar to those who understand it - critics have never been where you NEED one of these; yes, a Jeep or Rover might get you somewhere, but the genius of the FJ is that you don't need to bring a spare one for parts.
My 2013 - 207,000 Miles - No squeaks and no rattles!
90 fj62 is my all time favorite vehicle
Those wheels are 🔥

Fortuner is smaller, different platform, not a Land Cruiser. Full time 4WD, not as luxurious, very powerful and very capable off roader, I own a 2014 Fortuner, Old Man Emu suspension and 285 BFGoodroch tires.
my dream car whew.......
Lmao i love this guy he was like "since this is a heritage edition the third row doesn't exist!"
Just my opinion for night drives, Would have been better having a dash cam as far as seeing the road rather than far from a 3rd person’s view, but I overall really enjoyed watching this. Great job on the video

Second time watching your video. I’ve been thinking of getting a Land Cruiser. I have a 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor that has given me a ton of problem so I’m looking for something reliable, good to tow a small travel trailer and good for off roading. The SUV’s I’m considering, Audi Q8, Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne and the all mighty Land Cruiser, any advice?
@NaturesTicket

If you are concerned about reliability then definitely get the Landcruiser. I have had an FJ40, 80 series and 200 and they are awesome. Going to get another one by the end of the year. My mom is on her 2nd Cayenne and she loves it but I assume the maintenance is more expensive.

My pleasure Betsy, the Landcruiser name is synonymous with reliability and that seemed to be most important to you. The LC will not leave you stranded. I have a buddy that loves his Raptor but I am not crazy about SUV’s and trucks with turbo charged engines, I prefer engines to be reliable and last forever. Not concerned with horsepower or fuel economy. Good luck:)
Hi were you driving on four high the entire time? No locking diff no low gear? Also I notice you were going at a pretty high rate of speed I’ve never gone off road before so just trying to get an idea
Highly price is due to 30% tariffs in US for imported cars. It’s sold in Middle East with a discounted price as there is no tariffs or tax there.
With the Land Cruiser, you pay for the bulletproof engineering, not for fancy electronic accoutrements
The headlight washer will spray when the vehicle is in motion as it uses the wind to spread the washer fluid.

The ultimate vehicle
You should do a Cadillac Escalade review
Lc is bulletproof. Love 😍 toyota
You also forgot to mention the Mark Up that the dealerships gives to this car which is an extra 10K added to MSRP
I’ve viewed every review on this vehicle and yours is right up there with the best of them. Only thing, would have liked to see the sleeping ability for a six footer in the back with the seating out of the way. I camp occasionally in a Highlander and can sleep quite comfortably in it. But really want one of these. Problem though is such a huge depreciation hit if you decide to sell it within a few years, as I’ve closely followed the used pricing on LC’s and it’s not good at all. Sure, if you keep it 20-25 years it works out fine but how many want to keep a vehicle that long? Anyhow, great review, just discovered you so I’ll check out your other vids as well.

just a little know note on this and many people are unaware of. The front seats can be moved forward all the way, remove headrest, tilt back. It fits up against the rear seat and you have a bed. Same with With Land Cruiser Prados or Lexus variants.
You got a lead foot!! You should look into driving in a Baja Race. LOL
lx570 should go this offroad direction too.
Yes. That’s all I have to say to the Title of the video
Thanks for calling out the weird low front seat design. There’s little to no foot room for 2nd row passengers to slide under the front seat. A real shame as there’s plenty of knee room.
I really really want this thing but I also love my 2016 4Runner trd pro. Would you trade for the land cruiser? I’m really thinking about it
Yes it's worth every penny, considering inflation 90k would be equivalent to 76k in 2010. Inflation makes everything sound so expensive.
It's sad in some regions we can't get it
“That’s wet grass people” :)
It is worth it because it is built for something you can't directly see which durability and reliability wherever you go and for many many years to come.
People who actually have money buy Land Cruisers and many buy 4Runner Limiteds as well. Unlike the vast majority of Range Rover, Merccedes, BMW, Escalade, etc. "buyers" who pretend to have money and actually have lots and lots of debt.
Toyota needs to fix the cam tower leak
With so many electronic and computer chips/parts controlling the car, it can't cross river/deep water over the hood like the old LC, unless those parts/chips are waterproof.
Wish they just got rid of the side rails and did like a Full front the rear Gobi or Front runner rack.
Anyone know if Toyota will stop making the land cruiser for the US market by 2023?
