    Nice review! This is my daily driver. I picked up my 2020 Land Cruiser November 23rd, 2019, fresh off the ship from Japan. 5 miles on the ODO. Like your review vehicle, mine too is blizzard white pearl with terra interior. Absolutely love it. Yes, worth every penny. Previously owned a 2004 LC 100 series, which I too loved. Regarding the 2020, I'm at 15 mpg which is somewhat combined and I've already hit a high of 18.4 at combined to near highway conditions. So I have no issues with mpg. It's a well built vehicle with lots of high strength (heavy) steel, so one cannot expect economy figures when it comes to mpg. Plenty of technology, more than enough luxury, extremely capable and very comfortable. IMO, drives much smaller than it actually is, but then again I'm very comfortable driving larger vehicles. I do not have any issue with the infotainment system and actually like the resolution. I even purchased an original JDM LC emergency reflector kit for the left tailgate storage compartment, which is its purpose. There may be less expensive, more expensive, less or more luxurious vehicles, but there truly is only one Land Cruiser. Its history, heritage, reliability and off road prowess are legendary. Given the fact that the average price of a new car is getting closer and closer to $40,000 every day, I consider it a bargain.

    I have a 2019 LC and I get 17 daily driving 25% city 75% highway. What really gets me is all reviews complain about the mileage, yet they dog the crap out of it, take it off road. Well of course it’s gonna get bad mileage, what do you expect? A V6 4Runner won’t get much better, yet it’s lighter and a V6. My 2018 ford raptor only got 16-17 mpg driving it easy and ford recommended 91 octane.

    All cars are pretty reliable nowadays just as most people live in cities now than in the countryside. Served it's purpose but now more likely to be seen in the suburbs than in real workhorse country. Trouble is town planners are trying to rid cities of big SUV's so market for these types of cars is in decline

For your info, buyers who buy this Landcruiser have a household income of $250,000 per year. This is why you only see doctors drive them mostly. People buy Landcruiser for its offroad capabilities and reliability, not mpg. Those who buy this SUV don't care much about mpg

    july monte gotta ask, how? I am looking at a 2020 LC and a 4Runner. The runner has ~1 inch more ground clearance, more cargo storage, Apple CarPlay, Toyota safety sense, KDSS, crawl and multi terrain select, better approach, break over, and departure angles, and USB ports all over (Ted off road). The LC is definitely nicer, and the runner has more plastic, but I’m not convinced it’s more capable. Where is your data?

    Excellent overview. From past experience driving these beasts I have to say the mpg is worse than what is listed. Expect no more than 9-10 mpg in real every day town driving. I have never gotten over 14 on the freeway even at a steady 70 mph. With that said, this is an absolute “tank” of a vehicle and can easily go 350K or more.

It’s like anything else, drive it like you stole it and it will get poor mileage..I have yet to get it on the highway for a long trip. I bet it will get a lot better. It’s very smooth and quiet. Very solid and tight. It’s like no other. It actually handles pretty well for a heavy truck.

    Your KDSS discussion is not quite accurate. KDSS does not use electronic dampers. KDSS, which is fully mechanical, can disengage the stabilizer bars (the bars are jointed, allowing movement independent of one another). This system will not engage during normal driving conditions, when hydraulic pressure is equal. In off-road conditions, KDSS activates when it senses that a wheel has dropped.

  • @DriversOnly

    @DriversOnly

    According to Toyota, "achieves this by using an electrically modulated network of hydraulics to modulate or even disable the anti-roll bars." The dampers I was talking about are the hydraulic cylinders. My bad.

    @@DriversOnly Why do people say this? It's not true. They assume because it's expensive nobody takes them off road. There is a huge off road community with 200 series LCs, including in the US. Toyota says a larger percentage of LCs go off road than any model they sell. That includes the 4Runner, Tundra and Tacoma.
