Worth beating the RAV4 queue? (Haval H6 Hybrid 2022 review)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Haval H6 is great value for money, though in some ways, it is rough around the edges. The turbo petrol model lacked refinement, but the new Haval H6 hybrid improves the situation with a better, smoother gearbox that incorporates two CVTs. This car has a lot of torque, so an AWD system would be useful - but it’s hard to argue with the bang for buck here. So, should you skip the queue for a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and buy a Haval H6 Hybrid instead? Or do you get what you pay for with a more established brand?
In today’s episode of Chasing Cars, road test journalist John Law conducts a full and independent first review of the 2022 Haval H6 Hybrid FWD ($44,990).

Good review, used this as a final decision maker for me. Just bought an H6 HEV - very impressed - traded an older Audi Q7 for it (10+ years old) - never looking back now - this car is impressive and just works, getting just over 5.2 Litres (5.4 - 5.6 per 100 kms) - against all comments I've heard, this car rides and handles really nicely, more time as a BEV than I expected, excellent! Take time to understand the technology in the car and adjust to suit your needs and wants, it will be worth the effort. Good luck.

Yea if they were $10k cheaper. Instead what you have here is a car that’s near identically priced to a RAV4 Hybrid in high end Cruiser spec. Except with half the resale value, unproven reliability, and a limited dealer network. Kia and Hyundai could probably pull off Toyota pricing. But Haval doing this is bonkers. Resale truly is a huge one here; you’re actively spending more in the long run given how well Toyotas hold their value.

After sale market of haval is not so good as compared to Rav4. And now they have raised the price of rav4 so I am not sure is it worth to buy Rav4 or haval at this time now. There’s one big difference. Time. Japanese cars have been reliable for half a century now. Korean cars have proven their worth over the past 20 years. I’m not going to be a guinea pig for the Daewoo of 2022 - when they have decades of reliability behind them, solid resale value and a large dealer network I’ll be good I’ll buy them. Also price - when a $50k RAV4 Cruiser hybrid is within thousands of a $45k H6 Ultra hybrid, both top end models, this doesn’t make up for the insane difference in resale value between a Haval and a Toyota. If this was significantly cheaper then it will have merit. Not forgetting that Toyota is the most experienced brand in making hybrids. No easy feat to topple, even Kia and Hyundai couldn’t out-hybrid Toyota.

One thing is essential, about which nobody cares in the initial euphoria after buying a shiny new car of an anonymous Chinese (brand which obviously uses pricing dumping to catch ANY buyers). So, how looks the reliability, endurance of the components, mechanical solidity and overall quality in the long-term use? Haval is present in OZ from 5-6 years now as far as I know, so obviously there are already drivers who own these cars from a relatively long time. What are their reviews? How looks the service of new car and those in post-warranty period? Doing well in those areas made Korean car industry powerful and huge, but is it likely that Chinese will follow this scheme? I heard the main challenge is relatively short construction period. It is the risk of undevelopment. Thanks for any feedback, I'm really curious, because here in Central Europe Chinese cars aren't a thing at all.

@@wcrash9361 there’s nothing racist nor ignorant. GWM is owned by series of shell corporations own by the Chinese COMMUNIST Government. Dodgy stuff. Everyone knows the Chinese Govt is evil. I hope the great Chinese nation rises up and takes back their country after 70 years of 100+ million murdered by the Chinese COMMUNIST Party.
