My wife and I picked up our H6GT lux yesterday (13/11/23). We were looking at havals for a few months because we needed to upgrade from our 2015 Vitara and didn’t want to wait over a year for a Toyota. We got the end of year plate clearance sale, with the paint included and a bonus $1k off. So $38990 rather than the rrp at time of making this comment of $41485 for a non white vehicle. After adjusting the seat, I found it to be extremely comfortable and have no issues with the steering wheel. I have 3 kids, the eldest in a booster and the younger two in 0-4 seats (forward facing). I managed to install all three seats with no hassles, which was a nice change from the tiny car we had before. Now for the actual driving itself, I found the safety features made me stick to the speed limit more which isn’t a problem for me. Every time you nudge over the posted limit the car will beep once, and if you go 10km/h over a warning comes up on the dash. The lane keeping was helpful as well. Now for race mode. Fuck me it’s fun. My wife loves the sound and it’s hilarious how quickly the car takes off with it. I found it’s best used when you don’t have to turn at all and only for taking off rather than continual driving.

Thank you SO much for giving the decible readings on course and smooth roads. That info is SO hard to find normally and means a lot to me. You rock :)
I have driven the GT. It is amazing! So much so I have ordered one. The SUV is larger than a CX5 or RAV4. The amount of value included for the drive away price and 7 year warranty simply cannot be beaten. Full moonroof, autonomous parking etc. This gear box is fine, it only thuds forward in race mode, like N grin shift on the Hyundai N. The cameras are the best resolution and function. I have one complaint, the passenger seat doesn't go up or down. Haval will sell many GT's and I can't wait to get mine 👍. Good review Paul, great SUV Haval.

I just got a H6 GT Ultra, all black. And I love it. For its price it's fantastic. Has great features, the gearbox and engine is more than fine for me and nicer than alot of others I've tested on the market - I'm not racing around a track or trying to 4WD through the bush, I do a bit of highway and city driving and I like it for that. Tonnes of room inside, super comfortable, beautiful interior, excellent features. Everyone who's seen this is absolutely shocked at how nice it is. In all black it looks really nice, love the coupe SUV look. Compared to other new cars around this price, this is fantastic. Added, my centre console does not wriggle like the one in this lol, and it's full auto parking, works great. Love all the USBs too. Also I noticed he didn't mention but it has the kick feature on the boot and also the boot floor can be lowered a bit to give more room. I've been finding normal mode is good around town, and sport on the highway. I do agree that I wish you could lift the front of the seat and wish the seat was a tiny bit longer but I guess there's always a downfall with every vehicle lol.

Hey! I am looking to purchase this car, can you give me an update to your review please?
Thanks for the review Paul, just ordered mine about 2 weeks ago.
I used to work for GWM ( Greatwall motors) the name plate Haval, was in use back when we had the ugly boxy greatwall X200 and X240, they were as cheap built as they were priced. GWM went through a significant change during 2015 with Haval being designed by a former European car designer rather than just continuing with the X series which was more like a generic boxy 4wd, the designer moved into a more sophisticated look, and better quality than the old X series. Price did go up but it was well worth it. My parents bought a H6 in 2017, I drove it many times, and found it such dream to drive, I know they absolutely love it, and considering prices In the same class with other brands, Haval really became a strong contender. This new model (2021-22) has lifted the bar yet again, with even more sophisticated tech and safety systems, plus more luxurious interior and exterior styling, have set the new Haval models, right up there with the big players like Mazda and Toyota.

Everything you said doesn't matter one bit since the company is Chinese (owned by the Chinese government = communism, dictatorship, creator of the corona virus, Taiwan, no human rights etc). Sure, other companies buy stuff from China and puts them into their cars but the factory is often placed somewhere else and the company's profit doesn't go directly to China. Also, quality control no matter where the components are made isn't in China's hands. Buying a car made in China by a Chinese manufacturer is the worst idea ever. Can you even trust it? Do you trust China?
it looks fantastic especially in atlantis blue i really like the normal h6 but this one looks even fantastic

HAVAL is actually not the initial English name for this brand. When this name was initially (2005) introduced to the overseas market outside of China mainland, it was called "Hover". But as you'd expect, the word "Hover" was already registered in many countries and regions as trademarks. GWM had to improvise, and they settled on the name HAVAL. The correct Chinese characters for it are 哈弗 (hā fú), not 哈佛(hā fó) as described in another post here.

Hover was their second SUV. The first SUV was called 赛弗, which was a phonetic translation of the English word “Safe”. 哈弗 or “Hover” was their second SUV in the sub brand family. Back then, GWM even tried to coin a term CUV (city utility vehicle) for it. Initially, GWM didn’t have a plan to set up a new sub brand, but “Hover” was more successful than they anticipated. As a result, they decided to use the name “Hover” to set up the sub brand initially.

I have the same seating issue with the Jolion. Seat base is too flat, they need to angle the base of the chair a bit so you have more support under your thighs.
Quite agree about the suspension. I have the normal H6 2wd Lux (South Africa), and she is also very floaty. A stiffer suspension, especially in the GT version is definitely a necessity. Front brake callipers are very small, need upgrading too.

What is the underbody like. We live on property, but need a car that can handle a little soft off roading, but good for highway and around town. For our cars we need them to have a steal under body to protect from the stones.

For a "coupe" SUV it's a lot better designed than any of the high end brands which look like their backs have been kicked in the worst way possible. Another point.. not having physical switches for controls that are often used.

Haval has been China's number one selling SUV brand for over a decade cause they make great, super reliable SUVs.
the clunky feeling with the gearbox has been fixed with an ECU update. From Fiirst to Second you no longer get that chuggy feeling. Rest of the gears are fine as they were.
Around 9:20 I noticed a red vehicle blurred out in the background, is there a reason for this? It caught my attention and I just wanted to see what it was all about.
Haval is getting incredibly popular here in South Africa. We pronounce it Haa vaal
The hazards flashing (2 or 3 times) when you jump on the brakes is borrowed from F1 racing (its usually the single rear brake light) and is something they have been throwing into European cars for a while now (though it those cars its an option that can be turned off).
Thanks for the informative review, and I see that further development is needed to get the Haval H6 GT to be on point, but I'm wondering how does the handling and suspension compare to other compact SUVs ?

No sports car but moves around town & on the highway confidentally, unlaboured & responds to acceleration quite smoothly for it's size. The 2L runs on regular unleaded. Impressive leather steering wheel & wireless Apple carplay & phone charging in base model. Hyundai sales staff, service centres & after sale support is also very impressive. Credit to the South Korean Hyundai motor company 👏, well deserved. Very happy new Hyundai Tucson owner. I recommend the Haval H6 GT for the single man/woman, & the Hyundai Tucson for the family oriented. Thanks.
We've had our h6 ultra for 5,000kms now and love it. The cruise control drives me nuts and is the only thing I hate about the vehicle

May I ask what exactly is that problem? Cruise control is important for my driving. Thus, want to know the issue.

Is it how it slams the brakes if the car has to turn too much?

The only issue I have had is the infotainment rebooting every couple of days but hoping that will be fixed with an update at first service

Yeah it's annoying how it picks up the signs and barriers on the side of the road and slows the car down by alot.

@@wcrash9361 Well I got mine in November so that would be why. They don't offer over the air updates in Australia so not really our faults
I have question, is haval a reliable brand? Haval will enter Malaysian market soon and it seem that they will price competitively against other big brand. Still surveying my first car. Other brand like Honda, Toyota and Mazda is grossly expensive here.

Yes Haval is super reliable, best selling SUV brand in China for over a decade already.

Haval h6 is the best sold suv in CHina for years, h6 alone has been sold for more than 3 million (data of 2020). I personaly have not favor of haval brand, but it is quite reliable one.
Haval is taking over
Those Primacy 4 tyres are awesome for commuter cars.
Any DCT problems?
The boot floor can be lowered to give you more boot space. He didn't show.
Hi Paul Can you please do review of Mahindra Scorpio N
I’ll be trading in my 2016 Mazda BT50 for one of these in early 2023. Can’t wait to be honest.
I can’t believe they got these out before the hybrid. There have been zero hybrids delivered since your review, yet people are already taking delivery of the GTs.
Is this really the first SUV coupe in the medium SUV segment? Isn't the Q5 sportback a coupe SUV? Or even the X4 or GLC coupe? Perhaps I misunderstood what you meant :P

@@wcrash9361 Where in the video? He starts the video by saying "so the first SUV coupe in the medium SUV segment is actually from Haval, which we weren't expecting, we thought it'd be from one of the European or Japanese brands"

@@wcrash9361 What are they? They are all the same sort of size? If you want bigger examples, look at the X6 or GLE coupe? Not sure you have a point mate.
I HAVE come back to this review as i am a haval fan boy. i think its perfectly fine that they don't waste time and money on a shifty gps system and let you rather use your phone as that is what most people will do anyways. have seen reviewers say rather use waze or something because the in built system is awefull.
in Mars got my new H6 and to be honest its a Chinese car so don’t expect much from it, but generally its a good valuefor the money with a little more feul consumption than what they claim so its more suitable for the city more off road or long trips at the end its average price SUV with new tech and good value but still a better options if you ask me

Maybe on Pluto is different, but if you spend $46k and don't expect much out of it because it's Chinese, I think that points to a rather foolish decision maker. Now, what is the worth of " say" of such person? Story telling is great, but made up stories belong in children's books...

@@chriswording8638 where i live it’s only $25k so don’t be s fanboy to such a Chinese branded car just accept these cars companies still have way long to go to be rated A tier cars.
I think they need to go a tad more subtle with the badging. That is bloody, big lettering on the back and even the front badge is too much. It's like having a second front-mounted number plate. Can't they just use the GWM logo? Or better yet, redesign theirs. It's probably all pinned too so unable to be removed.

Even if the border was put do the front it would do some good.

Can be removed as other Haval owners have done to suit their taste

Take some fishing line, slip it behind the badges and they’ll pop off, problem solved.
