My favorite is Stronghold, followed very closely by Minas Morgul and Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame. Favorite three songs are Morthond, South Away and of course Land of the Dead. Each one of them is an earworm (though South Away is the one song I always, always end up singing and chanting along with: "And the crowns of the seven kings! And the crowns of the seven kings! Summoning is rather a wholesome experience, I mean listening to whole Discography at one take, somone doing that can really see the transition between classic Dungeon Synth with II BM wave rawness to more Cinematic/Folk Metal. As for myself I prefer their Newer stuff, but all of their works are magical and beautiful. I have read LOTR for the first time while listening to Summoning albums, its was great experience and I would say they present the vibe better than Jackson's movies, it just sounds more natural to what Tolkien was describing. Their music is an adventure through all of the lore. My List: 8. Lugburz 7. Dol Guldur 6. With Doom We Come 5. Stronghold 4. Minas Morgul (Demo is amazing too) 3. Oath Bound 2. I’ve yet to listen to Lugburz, so excluding that, my list seems to be quite different. From worst to best: 6. Stronghold 5. Oathbound 4. Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame 3. Old Morning’s Dawn 2. Minas Morgul 1. Dol Guldur There’s something about Dol Guldur that was absolutely dazzling to me. The intro track is sublime, with the use of bells to conjure an image of the cover art, being drawn into a hexagonal portal to a realm of pure fantasy. Then every track, the riffs, the synth, it’s a perfect album for me.

Lugburz was THE BEST at it's time & still has it's unique place within the scene... it might have had typical raw&messy production, though did not sound "melody-wise" like many others (including their country/band-mates Abigor/Amestigon) and yes it has a few decent "Summoning/Pazuzu" style synth fragments

I don't want to make a particular order but I want to say a bit about each album Lugburz: It is the album that I do not listen often to. It is just standard black metal for me (which is of course good) but it does not represent the typical sound of summoning. Dol Guldur: It is also not my favourite album, because the songs are a bit too long and repetitive. But the overall atmosphere is still great and I LOVE Kazad Dum very much. Stronghold: Is really one of their strongest albums. It has no real weak points, except one song I can't get into (don't remember the title, but something with rotting horse on deadly ground?) Old mornings dawn: Also a very solid album, and my favourite song is "Carhadras". Very much goosebump Minas Morgul: It is a good album, but also one I listen not very often to (more often than Lugburz though). Somehow I get not very into it. I don't know. Let immortal heroes sing your fame: This one is maybe my favourite album by them. To describe it in one word: majestic. It has the very special air to it. And I also like the vocals best on this one. Oathbound: Very very nice album, and together with Let immortal... and Stronghold one of their best. (but that is the thing with summoning it depends often on the mood, which you like best) From one of the best intros (Bauglir) until Land of the dead it is just awesome. (But I think the best intro tune has still the album "Let immortal..") To pick out the Top 3 for me I would say: "Let heroes..", "Stronghold" and "Oathbound"

Dvalahelvete Yes! I remember first time I heard stronghold, which was first ever recording of summoning I heard by they way, I didn't like it. Somehow it came back to me about 1, 1.5 years later and I loved it, that was around 2000. Dol guldur comes close, but stronghold remains my number 1. Funny fact, when let mortal heroes...... was comming out napalm records was holding a contest for 5 winners that answered 4 or 5 questions correctly about summoning. The prize was signed copy of said album on CD, and I freaking won!!! Hehe, only thing I ever won through online quizzes. And there it is, right in the middle of the booklet where the "pictures" of protector and silenius are.

I don't know...Don't get me wrong - I was kinda "encouraged" by the other video about the Summoning's new track. But come on... Allegedly it's "one of your all time favourite" and still you have to check this amount of information about the band on camera? It's not like you had to remind - you seem that you actually don't KNOW it. Okay - the name of the drummer from 20+ years ago could be forgettable. But stammering the album's and songs' titles? Don't knowing the name of 1 from 2 members? Come on. You're speaking about the vinyl reissues - it looks like you just bought all of them at once because you heard like two albums few years ago.

1. Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame 2. Dol Guldur 3. Old Mornings Dawn 4. Lugburz 5. Minas Morgul 6. Oath Bound 7. Stronghold 8. With Doom We Come They're all great. I could never get into Stronghold quite as much as I want to. I'm a sucker for early/demo stuff in general. That about sums it up.
Stronghold has been my favorite ever since it came out. Nothing else like it in Metal ever.
Oooh, very ambitious of you. I really don't think there is a way to rank these guys. Nightshade Forests and Dol Goldur were my first encounter with them so I have that nostalgia pulling me. Stronghold and Let Mortal Heroes... are also favorites. A list would change order with the weather for me
Completely understand how you feel about Minas Morgul. That was my first Summoning album and it's by far my favourite. Morthond is easily my favourite song of all time (as a whole it's also my favourite album). it's nothing short of perfection
Can anyone help with the lyrics to The Passing of the Grey Company? I just got into this band and that song is my favorite, but i cant seem to find the correct lyrics on the web. Thanks
It's still insane to me that you put Oathbound ahead of Stronghold. Then again, Stronghold is my favorite. 🌝
Ashen Cold, Northward, A Distant Flame Before the Sun, Rhun, and Land of The Dead are my favorite songs.
Good segment.
Lol putting Lugburz before Old mornings dawn XD
I fucking love Caradrhas so much.
Stronghold is my favorite album however, Mirdautas Vras is my favorite song! I remember seeing the sticker that came with the album saying that this was the first band to ever write a song in the Black Speech of Mordor.
my favorite is Stronghold-but you are right: there is no bad summoning release
another great video. But could you please turn up the whole sound of videos.? They are little bit too quiet for me as sometimes I watch it on my phone. :)
My order starting at worst: Old Mornings Dawn Dol Goldur Lugburz Oath Bound Stronghold Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame Minas Morgul (agreed one of the best albums ever recorded in black metal and music in general) I definitely agree with you about Land Of The Dead, it is for sure one of their best tracks next to Morthond.

Old morning's dawn isn't for guys looking to pretend to be edgy
1. Stronghold 2. Minas Morgul 3. Let mortal Heroes sing your fame 4. Lugburz 5. Old Mornings Dawn 6. Oath Bound 7. Dol Guldur 8. Nightshade Forests 9. With Doom we come
Minas Morgul has that SNES era sound, of course, it was from that time too from vibes akin to FFVI, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, etc.
Seeing how I only own 2 Summoning albums, I'll say: Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame & Old Mornings Dawn.
What's that album om the bottom right in the background?
Land of the dead is my literal favorite song

Do you like Agalloch?
Lugburz was THE BEST at it's time & still has it's unique place within the scene... it might have had typical raw&messy production, though did not sound "melody-wise" like many others (including their country/band-mates Abigor/Amestigon) and yes it has a few decent "Summoning/Pazuzu" style synth fragments
Lugburz is the best of their albums, so true haha
Summoning is Epic Black Metal
Chances are that if you started listening black metal with Burzum, you'll fucking love Summoning.
No bad albums, true. Stronghold owns. But thanks for making me relisten to Minas Morgul. It's better than I remember.

Cool I'll check it out. Elderwind is a favorite artist of mine.
(But I think the best intro tune has still the album "Let immortal..") To pick out the Top 3 for me I would say: "Let heroes..", "Stronghold" and "Oathbound"

rotting horse is the best
Nightshade forests' is the best. Even though its an e.p.
Old Mornings Dawn is a good album but its too emotive
summoning is best to worst, if we have to say they go worst. of course, lugburz and minas morgul are the best summoning albums.
#1 Should be pretty obvious? Yeah you better disable the likes and dislikes bar. Holy shit i find a video talking about summoning and he trashes their best album LOL.

I am one of the biggest LOTR fans in the world I watch the extended trilogy a couple times each year since released and i re-read the books every couple of years since the fourth grade. And also a huge fan of black metal but man I just find these guys absolutely terrible.
i dont understand people who listen to summoning but didnt read lotr or the sillmariliom

Just being a fan of fantasy is enough, Summoning can be an amazing experience with or without
I don't know...Don't get me wrong - I was kinda "encouraged" by the other video about the Summoning's new track. Come on. You're speaking about the vinyl reissues - it looks like you just bought all of them at once because you heard like two albums few years ago.

nokoments regardless what you think Summoning is my favorite and yes I'll admit it I have trouble remembering names from regular names to stage names so that is a mistake on my part Other than Minas Morgul and Oathbound everything else is the reissues mainly because the first presses go for insane amounts of money. Buying all the reissues together came out to less of an amount than the first press of Stronghold lol
