Hi Quenby, I’ve been watching your reselling channel forever now but I decided to check out your therapy page. This video helped me SO much. I was diagnosed with extreme panic and anxiety. I completely struggle with avoidance (sometimes I want to go out and do things like thrift or see friends but I just don’t feel like I can do it). Not because I’m afraid of what I will do wrong, but I am so afraid I will faint while driving or I’ll have a panic attack while in public, etc, so instead I’ll just stay home which is a bad feeling as well. I’m so glad I came across this video!!! I’m trying to figure out how to not be so afraid of driving because of the fear of fainting while on the road. It sucks!!! I’m not afraid of the driving itself or traffic, it’s the feeling that I will be out of control. Anyways, not I’m rambling hahaha. Thank you

This video is so helpful, my anxiety happens when I have to drive on the freeways, I've avoided this by driving on the streets but I've started a job that's going to require me to do so that I'm seeking anything to combat it.

My teen avoids things(to include therapy ) due to crippling anxiety but she refuses my direction to step out and face fears even baby steps at times to help retrain her brain so that she can see it’s safe/okay. I’ve explained it to her but she still refuses and it’s exhausting as a parent to constantly try to encourage her to no avail. 🥺

I totally hear you. This is what many of my clients parents say. It's so hard. In my humble opinion, its all about finding the right therapist that your teen is willing to see. One tip is that you could prescreen the therapists for your teen then when you find someone u think they could like just require they go to only one session . This helps the Teen feel more in control too. I cannot tell u how many reluctant teens I have been able to turn around. I have other videos about this that u might check out. Thanks so much.

@@thegratefultherapist I’ll keep trying! Thank you for your reply! At this point I wish I had insurance just like she does I would literally go to a therapist just so that I have the proper tools to handle how to respond to her on a daily basis.

How do we avoid internalizing patterns of failure or humiliation when we choose to face situations that make us anxious? I find that my social anxiety sometimes worsens after an 'unsuccessful' interaction, making it feel even harder to try again. It can be difficult to just keep trying to be resilient when it feels like you're getting repeatedly punished for trying to make progress.

One way is to change your idea of what "sucess" is in the situation. When I work with my clients we start with small teeny steps. Just SHOWING UP is a success. We would build on that. My guess is you might need to start with smaller steps and get comfortable there b4 moving on. You might be flooding yourself, but of course talk to your own therapist about this and your MD. Thanks! Quenby

Hi Quenby, I’m so grateful (no pun intended) that I stumbled upon your channel this week! Definitely nice to learn some knowledge while working on therapy documentation. Although I find that I keep pausing documentation to write down all the tips you’re giving 😂 One video suggestion I had: you mentioned you’re an LMFT - do you work with families in your position? In my position, I work with youth and also do some informal parent-teen therapy. I would LOVE to learn more about family therapy interventions and just generally working with parents. How do we kindly suggest alternate parenting techniques to parents (ie replacing yelling with something healthier)? Not sure if you work with that in your position, but if you do, I would love your insights!

Thank you so much. Yes, I work a lot with families. Whenever I work with teens, I want to include family sessions when appropriate. I inform teens that their parents will want to check in with me, and us. I often have shorter check in calls with parents. I find it's helpful to tell the parents that I respect their judgement & that I know they know what is best for their family, and yet here is something I might recommend. ...... Quenby

@thegratefultherapist well... specifically, I struggle with agoraphobia. It started with fear of driving by myself.. but has gotten to the point where I don't really want to go anywhere by myself. I still do push myself when I am in the right mindset and listening to this makes me see I definitely need to push more. Appreciate your content 🥰

Learning how to trust myself I think is huge. I always think I won't be able to handle a panic attack if I am out alone.
