Welcome to the American welfare system where they they literally told my aunt who had given birth and had surgery back to back so she couldn't work for a while and denied her food stamps because she is married and told her if she divorces my uncle (who was working but wasn't making enough) they'll give it to her. My aunt yelled at them "You'd rather destroy my family then help me" Won't give it to a woman who said she only needs them until she's recovered and can go back to work but will give it to bums for a lifetime who don't wanna work and keeps popping out babies for the welfare.

The plaintiff wanted to tell the judge her "feelings" about the defendant instead of sticking to the "facts". She came off like a drama queen. I don't understand how the floor is the landlord's fault - maybe it was the AC thawing - but you clean up the water and inform your landlord that it happened right away! I would however like to have heard about the defendants "threat" of having her pay $3700, or was she being overly dramatic about that too.

the landlord is responsible for fixing the AC and making sure its drained proper. You can't expect a tenant to deal with that. A maintenance person or AC/HVAC person who is trained and knowledgeable deals with that

Love watching Judge Milian; however, Judge Judy would've NEVER let the plaintiff get on her soapbox and personally attack the defendant. It was tacky, rude, and not necessary. The plaintiff came off as a rude brat from the start. 🙄 Also, Judge Milian let the plaintiff tell her what the defendant was thinking. You can't say what someone is thinking. Last thought, the Judge laughed with the plaintiff when she mentioned the plaintiff calling the defendant "nasty." Judge Milian really let the plaintiff cross lines in this case. JMHO.

JJ would have tossed the flooring in on the judgment. She would have said it didn't matter the reason. The tenant is responsible for notifying the landlord and since she did not it wason the tenant because she let it go so long it was ruined

The plaintiff rehearsed her "speech" very well but didn't say anything meaningful. JM was kind in her remarks. I don't believe a word the plaintiff said. The body language is telling. She is so annoying. JM had her number early on. That being said, I don't think the defendant is blameless either. The plaintiff's reaction to the verdict indicates she can't be pleased. I don't think I've ever seen/heard anyone who rambles on like she does.

I thought the same thing. The first speech she gave was prepared and wasn't anything about the case. She just wanted to brand the landlord as evil before it started. JJ would have shut it down once she started and it wasn't answering the question.

"He never moved in..." Except the 24/7 he stayed over, I'll bet. Also, I have the impression that landlords who accept Section 8 can't ignore needed repairs as the checks will stop in an instant if everything isn't just right per Section 8 regulations. So her trying to pretend the landlord ignored valid requests for repair doesn't wash.

A counselor came out to help me fill everything out and get the housing voucher. There might be programs that provide the sec deposit but section doesn't. Luckily cancer centers of America sent me a check for the deposit.

I had a tenant who recently moved out to a bigger and newer home. I got a message from them thanking us for the service we provided. I too take care of all the maintenance requests for our properties and will be the first to call a contractor is it's over my head. There's nothing wrong with that. This is why we can address any issues in a 12 hour time frame. We had to keep their deposit because we did have floor damage, Did not know how it got there but it wasn't there when the tenant moved in.

You can tall by her entire speech about the landlord when she started to talk she is clearly one of the worst tenants ever. She came off as she thinks shes better then everyone around her. She should be saying thank you to the tax payers for being able to purchase her new home because we paid her rent while she was using government funds.

Plaintiff is hella annoying. Get to the point. Answer the questions with facts, not feelings.

The plaintiff's main problem is that she was trying too hard to make herself look & sound intelligent, of which she failed miserably when she couldn't pronounce the word "Thaw/Thawed. As soon as I heard the plaintiff's opening statement which had absolutely nothing to do with the case or the judge's question, I just shook my head. This case was so similar to what I am going through right now. I lived in an old tri-plex for 16 1/2 years , 14 of those were great. I had no problem until my landlord had a stroke and his son took over. He wanted the old tenants to move out so that he could raise the rent. During the pandemic! He constantly reminded me that he was the property owner and could do whatever he wanted with his property including entering the property whenever he wanted to. He stole my trash repeatedly, refused to make repairs in a timely manner, and met me with disbelief every time I reported a problem. He was awful reporting false accusations to housing, threatening me because of what other tenants did, even went as far as threatening to kill himself because he had all these properties that no one was helping him with. He has postponed out court date 3 times, but this time we are scheduled to go to court this year 2024. I just want him to know that some people know their rights and that although I am not rich like he is I can still fight back for my civil rights. He returned my security deposit in full, and after almost 17 years the place was still in great condition. In fact a new tenant moved in a month later.

I’m surprised the Judge let the Plaintiff go on and on without stating a single legitimate complaint. I also don’t understand how someone receiving Section 8 can afford to PURCHASE a home.

Section 8 is temporary for most. Several people that once received government aid can now purchase a home. Just because you are on section 8 doesn’t mean you don’t know how to manage money, save and do your research.

The plaintiff talking smack about the landlord trying to sound like she's "higher authority" while she's trying to make herself sound smarter than what she is 🤦‍♀️She was terribly annoying!

Landlords get abused by lawmakers in America. Renters are allowed to squat while the landlords risk losing their homes if they don’t continue to make their payments to the bank? Ridiculous

If landlords were losing their anywhere near the rate way hard-working tenants are being evicted right now, we would not be able to avoid hearing about it.

I’ve listened to the plaintiff for 1 minute, and she has drama queen written all over her! The landlord should have done a better job of vetting her.

I swear the speech the Plaintiff started out with sounds like a rehearsed speech someone would give in high school for a mock debate in which the plot was completely lost.

The husband standing there kept telling his wife what to say. If it was another Judge he would have been told to sit down and stop whispering a long time ago 🙄

Ive had rentals and the plaintiff gives me nightmares

Everybody is ragging on the plaintiff but I agree with her! I had a situation where I asked for my deposit back and then the landlord sent me this huge bill with all these bogus charges of so much “damages” when it fact it was just to scare me off from asking for my deposit back. Im glad she stood up for herself.

People need to realize when you rent, you're paying the owner to live in the property. It's not yours, you don't own it. And, as the plaintiff said, don't ax me any questions! 🤣🤣🤣

Plaintiff is childish and annoying

Your landlord is a higher authority. You’re subjected to their rules (of course within the law) but the plaintiffs monologue was completely unnecessary. The entitlement of people living on section 8 is incredible.

I’ve lived in nothing but apartments and I’ve never had a landlord that was all in my business people on section 8 are still people ya’ll act like they aren’t and their just bottom feeders she was paying $900 which is a good amount of rent

@@Damnitshayits a rare gem when you find someone on section 8 that respect themselves and the property they are renting. I know it isnt fair to stereotype, but stereotypes come from the truth. I’ve only met one person in my life that was a decent, hard working human being, on section 8/welfare. Everyone else I’ve encountered are trash, scamming, pigs. Sorry.

A landlord is a property manager. They have no business calling agencies to file false claims without evidence. If she felt the tenant wasn't abiding by the lease, then evict her.

I agree. Some section 8 people are full of themselves and very entitled and all the while everyone else is having to pay our own rent like adults should but taxpayers are paying for part of most of section 8 rent and then they go gap their legs open and spit out babies that will grow up to be unproductive members of society and these parasites know the fathers are frequent deadbeats. Everyone should be responsible for themselves and not be dependent on others. Help should go to people who truly need it and didn't cause their own problems.

Ma’am I don’t care how sophisticated you think you sound and how much of an “entrepreneur “ you think you are, this is section 8 and you tore that lady’s apartment up🤣🤣🤣

Section 8? This kinda crap is why we’re over 34 trillion in debt. House yourself and your children. It’s not our job.

I understand your frustration. The top 50% earners pay 98% of all fed taxes. The bottom 50% earners pays 2% of fed taxes. We effed up and grew the federal gov't too big. Thomas Jefferson warned us about it in writing "A gov't large enough to provide you with everything you need is large enough to take everything you own". 😒

The judge can't speculate that the floor before pics look good and after the plaintiff look like crap?wtf! The plaintiff is responsible for telling the landlord when the floors are wet or something is wrong and she didn't which made the floors even worse so yeah you should not get any security back......also how does a section 8 person get a better looking place than most working people!

Yup, words like that will destroy a landlord. On national TV, you don't want anyone describing you like that. The plaintiff took her words pretty far.

I think JM likes to hear rambling to help evaluate personalities. Personalities can often demonstrate character. Can be useful in a case that only requires a tipping of judicial scales...in this case, rambling, or the More you say, HURTS YOUR CASE🤔😂

It looks like it was the pictures that impacted her case. She didn't clean the appliances and that little 13 inch TV was broken. One thing the Plaintiff should have done was wipe down the walls and hit the self cleaner on the stove a little more regularly. When you know you're dealing with a racist landlord, you don't leave them any excuse to steal from you.

.. let's make a correction in layman's terms since everyone can't understand it's funny how us the taxpayers are paying her rent and helping her save $900 because we are paying. So in actuality she can pay her rent . Also section 8 places are usually not that great-looking or well put together kind of like the ghetto. But instead she was given a wonderful place to live and trashed it .. and let's be real we all know her boyfriend/ baby daddy was living there. So that was a lie. Does that make more sense now ... So let me get this straight. She was lucky enough for the tax. Payers to pay her rent so she who could clearly pay it could save that $900 a month for a purchased house. Then was lucky enough to not get a "section 8" appt etc and then almost trashed it enough to turn it into one. And yup I'm pretty sure the boyfriend /baby daddy was living there too. 😂😅😮
