I love how nonjudgmental and kind the groomer is. My first thought was the owner is suffering from depression. Poor pup, but I’m glad she was able to get a proper trim.

I love how you tell viewers to get training before cutting nails! People think it’s no big deal but it’s often done incorrectly at home which causes complications and trauma !!!!!

Yes, there are nerves in the quick, not just blood. My vet said it actually really hurts them if you cut it.

My vet clipped my chihuahua nails and got a vein, the blood just poured out!

@@ponyponydevereux7291 i use a dremel. My dog has black nails so I just didn't want to risk it. You can see the change in texture in the center of the nail that tells you are close to the quick. I've never once injured my baby girl.

My mom was gonna cut my dogs nail without knowing about the quick . thank god I mentioned it to make sure she knew how to cut the nails . I ended up doing it .

I have taken my big guy to vet. 4 people holding him and 1 trimming nails. Still too long.😢

Why shave a short haired dog?

You are an amazingly compassionate person! I absolutely understand not being able to afford having your dogs groomed, their nails taken care of, and just general care. I have 4 yorkie/Cavalier King Charles spaniels. My husband and I have had them for a long time. When we were able to work their care was the most important thing to us. Then we both were involved in accidents and had to go on SSDI. Our income was cut in half. Now we get what we can done for them. I love them so much. I do understand. 😔😞

So true, it's easy to judge like say don't get a dog if you can't afford but things happen and can totally chance your living situation and you can't either just cut the nails of a dog if you don't feel sure about it.

Hopefully your groomer helped you out so that in times like this you were able or are able to take care of them yourself if not as good as your groomer might have been you need to find a groomer that's just as loyal to you as you are to them

Purebred dogs can be easily adopted out if you can't afford them. It isn't a "we do what we can" situation.

For me I am amazed, in awe. When people have the passion/confidence. In what they're doing. It shows in their ability to perform the task/their work. I look at it as a gift from God. My rescued little old man freaks out when anyone touches his paws or ears. He finally lets me touch his face. So I bought a muzzle to keep his nails down. I wish I could find someone like you!

Love this. No one is a position to judge a situation they know nothing about. All that matters is she is there now getting very well taken care of. And it is evident that she is cared for.

I very much appreciate that you mention that some owner circumstances may be difficult. I am a disabled widow on a very limited income & its extremely hard for me to take my dog babies to the vet. I have to make decisions on if I get to go to the doctor or eat at times. Thanks for the compassion

I understand their nails can in particularly be missed, but for that long on a short haired dog is a mystery to me. I once mentioned to my dad that the dewclaw was close to growing into the dog's leg, the next time I was there it was cut. That one nail was missed when he went to get his nails cut so my dad didn't notice it until I pointed it out. He thanked me for noticing and within a couple days brought him in to get it fixed.

I love your support block. 1 nail weep is brilliant on such long nails. Nice job. Dogs are usually mean when mom is around. Stay safe.

Thank you. I wish more people were willing to help those who cant afford it. If people knew how painful this is for dogs to walk when their nails are this long they likely wouldnt let them get that bad.

When u started clipping 1st foot so fast i tensed right up . I thought OMG the dogs quick has grown longer too.. Im so glad they brought dog to u. I think its so amazing that u stated u never know what an emergency can bring.. I have 2 small dogs and dealing w serious health issues myself but ppl see that I am only 40 and assume i am healthy.. Im not. Fastest cut i ever saw u do.. Amazing job !!

Those Things can be lifesavers, also great for feisty cats. They don't feel restrained but biting is a little more difficult

I have similar circumstances in that my rescue Pom won't let me even touch his feet. He came from a horrible "drug house in Atlanta". He let's the female vet techs cut his nails.

Another thing to think about for people at home with dogs that are difficult to trim nails on is walking them a lot helps to naturally keep them worn down.

​@AL-ru3nk for some people it is that hard. We got our dog from a rescue 6 yrs ago. When we got him he had scars on his legs and wouldn't let us touch them at all. It's still sooo hard to clip his nails. He was going to a groomer regularly but just one day he flipped tf, out so then I brought him to the vet and he needed to be sedated just to get his nails clipped but it was very scary because he would stop breathing while under sedation. He is 75 pounds and impossible to get to stay still. It's not like he was a puppy and trained since he was little.

I would love to see an update on this dog. I've seen this video over 20 times. I absolutely adore her and wish there was a possibility for me to adopt her. My boo boo 🥰

Most of our dogs nails are black so you can’t see the quick. We sent him to the vets to get the trimmed and they said they couldn’t because he was shaking too much because he was nervous 🤷‍♀️

I don't think they cut dogs nails though. It's only for emergencies.

Poor darlin! I’m a retired Professional Pet Groomer and thank you for all you do! I salute you! I have an 8 year old Chihuapom named Banjo...aka Banana Joe cause he’s definitely bananas but he’s my baby, OH... and Banjamen Joseph, my daughter’s loved name for him! Lol. I started him with grooming at 8 weeks old. Bathing, brushing, light clipping and of course nails but once he grew into his little personality he decided the nails were no longer to be clipped! Many times he has bitten the blood out of me for nails and brushing. A dog only a grooming mother can handle. Lol. Luckily he doesn’t take much grooming as far as brushing AND he literally chews his own nails down at bedtime quite often so they never get out of control thankfully. Lol. Oh Banana Joe! Sigh....

You have such a wonderful attitude. Love for the animal. Compassion for the human rather than just judging them out of the gate. I also really love that little dog support jack you have. I have to see if you have any videos of big dogs. I have a mastiff and she does not like getting her nails clipped. Try to do them myself because I feel bad taking her somewhere.

OMG... Finally another groomer that does the nails the way I do.. Bout time! I have actually had one with longer nails than that, they curved right around and were imbedded in the pads. When I cut the nails, I literally had to pry the nail out of the pad, which left holes in each pad.. Poor girl was so obese.. When I helped the owner to have her euthanized a few years later, it took a queen size blanket along with 3 vet assistants and myself to get her out of my car an into the office. I do rescues for free and the puppies first visits are free.. prices are 1/2 off for anyone on a budget or low income. I myself have 8 dogs and I am on a widows pension, so I totally understand and can be non judgmental in situations such as this

I agree on you, but sometimes it's different, I know a dogowner and I meet him every day on my walk, his dog has very long nails, he purposely walks on hard road at least 2 hours a day to keep them short, he even let them clip by a vet and they even burned down his quick under sedation and still they grow so long. Sometimes things aren't the way you expect. Like my dog isn't that active anymore and I notice his nails are getting longer too, I walk him also every day by good or bad weather. Sometimes an outsider can't see how the reality is, I could judge the facts iff I know the owner and iff I see she isn't exercising enough or isn't putting the effort into it. But as long I don't know the facts of how the dog is kept, I keep my mouth shut.

That doesn’t always work, especially for large breeds. I walk my Rottweiler daily and he still needs to get a nail trim once a month

I’ve thought about becoming a groomer. Could you answer this question. Since you’ve been a groomer what would you say over time hurts physically. Do you find your back hurts from bending, wrist from repeating motions etc. curious if this is something physical I can do with having 3 back surgeries

👍😎. Really great work, thanks for posting how it’s supposed to go on the toe trims especially. You make everything look so easy. Wish we were nearby, our groomers have yet to get our little guy’s one crazy toe cut short. It’s too long & has begun to curl under. He screams like he’s dying & I have to move out of earshot. We take him in every month. A ten pound slightly plump senior min pin runs my life & apparently he’s got them under his spell too. They cuddle him, they talk to him I know they’re kind to him but they just never get that one toe short enough. We are on a plan that we pay each month for trims & dumping his gland as needed, shots & heartworm. So its a great plan for Mr Peepers & for the vet. But it’s been ten months, different young people each time directed by the vet. And yet they never go short enough on that one front toe Im getting him used to my little nail nippers & my file. I hold his foot while we watch your videos. He likes them. I’ll try the cone & go for tiny slivers on his toe. He walks funny because of the curled toe. Thank you for all your great videos

I swear the fur baby looks like she is smiling the whole time she is being groomed.

Its good that the nails were white as my dogs nails are all black and very hard to cut as you cant see the veins at all. He is also a 60kg or 130lbs dog! It grows so fast too. Not everyone can get someone else to cut them as it cost a fair bit too.

The sad thing is the longer the dog goes without getting their nails clipped the longer the quick grows.

We rescued a King Charles Spaniel and his claws were longer than that. They were actually in corkscrews.

No home training, fat and long nails eat everything from Doritos to cookies🤣😂 the dog doesn't trust u either that tail is tucked.

My shiba inu does the same. I cannot touch her paws. I must bring her to the vet for nail trim.

If you see your dogs nails getting a bit long get a laser pen. Then when it gets a wee bit dark at night shine it on concrete and they will use their claws to scratch on the ground and that will help your dogs claws. My German shepherd's doesn't like us touching their paws or trying to trim their claws. It does help to keep their claws down..DeeDee ty for your patience with this beautiful wee dog..thanks from Glasgow Scotland. Xx
