My Dad was a farrier for 55 years under a horse. He has seen this. I remember mom got a horse out of an auction with the same issue. My dad used one of the aluminum bands that they used to secure hoses to an engine to give the hoof support. Cut out that he needed to and rebuilt the hoof with fiberglass. It took a year to grow out.

Having watched a good number of cow and horse hoof trimming videos, I gotta say that ungulates are INCREDIBLY patient animals. I rarely see a video where a horse or pony puts its hoof down repeatedly as often as this, but this looks SO painful! Granted, I'm not a farrier... but I am a cat owner. And cats' patience levels are already in the negatives when it comes to claw trimming. 😂

What a beautiful horse! I’m so glad you are helping all these horses.
When you were using the Dremel I felt the same tension in my hands that I feel when I’m at the dentist 🤠 Great work. Would love to see updates on this horse and hope I never have to deal with it on my horses. Thanks for sharing

@@Nobody277 Don’t forget the horse has no feeling in this part of their hoof. Farriers are good at not digging in too deep. The sound does get us humans though. 🤠
What a gorgeous gentle horse. I love how informative you are and how much you help these beautiful animals.
As someone who doesn't know much about horses, it's amazes me how nice & patient they are about letting people trim their hooves.

That was my first thought. I watch a lot of cow hoof trimmings and even the docile ones still need completely restrained.

As I understand it, and I'm no expert, they are trained from birth to behave for this. Cows don't have that.

Wish my dog was as well behaved about having her nails trimmed.
There are no words that can articulate your knowledge, work and honest to goodness care. This horse will feel a lot better hopefully soon. This was an especially beautiful freckled horse and I love freckled horses..thank you.
You sir, are a Hoof Whisperer. :) That was impressive. Also, that horsie is so cute!
What a chill creature. I hope all your care gives him/her some relief. Looks like they took their time getting the horse to a professional.

I would like to see this hoof today (August, 2023) to see if it’s healed well. This is wonderful what was done for this poor horse. Thanks for sharing this.
You, Sir, are an artistic genius. All the hard work you must do to get this good. Thank you. It's very encouraging not just for horses but for humans as well.
You are doing such a great job, thank you for helping the beautiful horses❤
There is nothing so satisfying as seeing a good man help an animal .Terrific guys well done 👍👍👍
You guys are amazing! I've learned so much watching this channel. Much respect. Hope the owner comes back for a follow up.
I've had horses in my life since I was 3. I love your channel. I love that you make your own shoes. Your work is top notch by far.
What a patient little horse. poor guy. I'd love to see a follow up on this to see how well it worked. This is literally one of my worst nightmares.
I appreciate your explanations as you went..that was one horrible crack ..never saw anything near that bad..I hope that little horse was able to recover
While the idea of riding a horse scares me, seeing the care and relief you all provide is wonderful.
I am sure you have seen a worse crack, but I have not. This one breaks my heart.... watching it was difficult as I felt every clip and file. I join my thanks with Huckleberry's owner to the good people at the Idaho Horseshoeing School for what they did here and in many other videos they have put out.
Thanks so much for your patience and work with this beautiful animal.
Amazing video, watching you dremel the crack down was fascinating, when you put the antibacterial liquid in you could really see just how incredibly deep this crack was. What a lovely, genuine pony, I’ve just read the post by his owner and so pleased Huckleberry is loved and he’s been brought to you to fix. I couldn’t believe the instability in the hoof when you started to tighten the metal up, poor pony. I would really love to see more videos, as this pony’s hoof progresses in your care. 👍
I’ve never seen a crack resulting in such trauma to the coronary band before! Awesome work can’t wait to see follow up.
Love that you put these on KZread. Very educational.
Please do updates 🙏🏼 Y'all do amazing work 💪🥰🐎
I've seen these injuries at the horse sale often. I've always wondered if anything could be done to restore a hoof to normalcy. Thanks for posting. Definitely going to share.
Best work I've seen. Amazing job. Thank you for giving the horse some relief.
I love your videos. I have a hard time imagining how that poor boy walked at all before your work! As others stated would love to see an update on how he's doing.
Thank you for training people to take care of these horse's needs properly. It was really interesting watching you fix and medically treat it's hoof. Why though do owners let their animals foot problems get so bad before seeking a professional's help??
this looks so painful 😭 lucky horse to have someone like you to work on it! can't wait for the update!

Thanks for doing great work and help for this horse. Good job teaching the next gen too.
That little horse was done with your fussin’ 😅 thank you for such dedicated care and amazing workmanship! 🎉
What an amazing job!!! Super creative using the hose clamp!!! You guys are incredibly good!!!! I have no doubt, that in your care, this horse will make a full recovery!!! Again, what an amazing job!!!!
I would love to see this story continues and updated as the horse heals!
Nicely done! I dont know anything about this subject, but i love watching these videos! ❤❤❤
This is a case that would be great to get radiographs on.
Awsum vid and amazing way to try to fix this problem. Please keep updating this horses progress w vids !!

That was fascinating thank you, never seen anything like that before! Stella job! Love to see some updates... ❣️
Remarkable farrier skills. Amazing work, all around. There is hope for Huckleberry and his owner after everything they have been through.
Fantastic work as always. IHS is the best in the business! Thanks to all you guys out there👍🏼
This was a BEAUTIFUL JOB thank you for letting us see you work your magic
I've seen you treat hoof cracks on here a few times but that has to be the worst one. I can't believe how deep it was.
The poor sweetheart🥺🥺🥺
I am not a horse person but this channel fascinates me.
I admire your craftsmanship tremendously how you take care of such a hoof again. my compliments.
This appy seems to have pretty good feet considering. Nice frog that didn't look thrushy. Did a great job and if you get rid of the infection I think everything will heal up with a regular schedule with you guys!

The owner has been making sure the horse has regular vet and farrier care. I have no idea what happened to the hoof but it sounds like it wasn’t neglect.
This is fascinating. I have had a split on my big toenail since a boating accident in 1988. I have to keep it trimmed and filed so it doesn't snag on my sock. I sort of know what this horse is dealing with. My nail will never grow back in one piece but I hope this horse's hoof does. Cool video.

Bravo! 👏👏👏 And what a beatiful horse it is...hope he/she will recover well!
I don’t have a horse but I learn so much about how farriers help horses to stay on their feet. Those horses ate so much happier when they leave than before they came. ❤
Watching her pull away that many times really drives home the point regarding the sheer amount of pain she was in.
I had horses when I was young,so I love to watch this. Brings back good memories. I was wondering if farriers have to take veterinary courses as well.😊
Fascinating to watch, what a great job you have done. I look forward to following progress and hope for healing and recovery. I stubbed my big toe in May last year, the nailbed went black, it took a full six months to grow out so I'm guessing it will take many months for this hoof to grow.
thank you for your work. amazing . youre really helping these animals
Any update?
That hurts me to watch.
Seeing the amazing work these gentlemen have done on horses with terrible conditions of their hooves makes me believe that miracles can still happen.
That’s amazing the difference before and after,I’m sure the horse feels so much better. Great job!
This man is an amazing farrier and that horse is lucky to have him. Sad that someone let this condition get this bad. Hope for a future follow up video.
Wow!!!! It’s amazing how good that hoof looks after just one session with you. When I first saw the condition that hoof was in I scraped my jaw off the floor.
Such a beautiful boy he is. I have never before seen a horse with such a coat. Again, he is beautiful I hope he heals well.
I impressed how calm the horse remains throughout this procedure.
Amazing to watch..thank you for doing such great work. That horse sure needed your expertise.
My father-in-law (now 93 "fesh" years old!) was while his live a blacksmith in a monastery south of Munich. When he saw this video he was very much pleased to know how the man there is going to give help to that animal! Congrats!
Looks SO painful. 😢 Thank you for being a ferrier angel❤❤
Amazed by the skill and knowledge!
You guys do amazing work. I took one of my young horses that I sold to you. It was her 1st shoeing. It will be interesting to see how this horse progresses. I am encouraging my son to go to school there.
Thank you for the kind and innovative treatment for that very spotty horse. I think about the pain that horse has been living with and I want to cry. As a kid my parents bought a brood mare who had a split up to and into the coronary band and we could never get a farrier to do anything but trim. Very sad we were in Michigan and couldn't trailer her to your school. It would have improved the mares life a lot.
Fine work and it is amazing how well-behaved the horse is!
I had an Appaloosa who split a rear hoof, it was fascinating to watch the Farrier and Vet work together, it took about 18 mo’s for the hoof to grow completely out, but the care the Farrier took with the special shoes was amazing!
I can't wait to see how this horse is progressing. Amazing work!
Great work indeed - may we get a follow up on this beautiful horses hoof and the condition it's in now. It would be great to see.
I know nothing of horses. I subbed just too see an update on this guy. Glad to see he was taken care of.
What a sweet baby ! He was so good about touching his broken hoof. Very interested in follow up on healing. So happy you're such a good mom to try so much to make sure he was healthy. Vets are alot like "human" Dr's. Sometimes you just have to find the right one. Hope he's feeling better in no time! Good luck.
Thank you for the great work you do for these horses.
That was super super interesting loved it please keep updated lol forward to it cheers
Cracking job mate, glad we have people like you around who can do this, Top man, Lee in the U.K. Good job!!!
The best advertisement for the school. I hope the horse returns as the owner stated below and in a few months you can do a compilation of hoof development post your treatment.
I know nothing about horses but watching that its amazing your the hoof doctor
Thank you for the Updates! It seems so hard, painfull and... long time to heal again. 😟
