Is this the bonehead boaters of the week? Gonna have to check with Broncos Guru, hopefully, I can make his awesome channel! Jupiter was surprisingly busy this weekend. There was a storm offshore making the conditions well above forecasted. Enjoy as these boats launch themselves thru a rough inlet in Jupiter, FL.
This is only 6 of 6 videos from the craziest day I have ever filmed, Make sure to Subscribe.
The strong current was ripping leading several boats to broach over and almost sink while crossing the bar and entering the inlet in rough seas. Watch as these boats battle angry wave after angry waves. This is why I think Jupiter Inlet is more Dangerous than Haulover Inlet. The sandbar may not be as big as Haulover but the conditions and Jupiter Inlet can get really tough.
All kinds of boats in Jupiter, FL Palm Beach County transiting one of the most dangerous inlets in Florida. These boats can get themselves in trouble easily if they don't use the correct speed and choose the right lines at Jupiter Inlet. Some weekends there are more awesome boats going in and out of Jupiter Inlet than a boat show. Enjoy the video and don't forget to hit that like button to support the channel.

Bow scoops down so you can see over bow from helm… Taking water over the bow in that big of a boat, that has to be embarrassing. There is a sweet spot for center consoles and 54 feet is well outside of it

For over 100 years humans have been making small motorized ocean going fishing, lobster, and shrimp boats, most have raised bows and enclosed bows. WTF with the lowered open bow on a 65 foot offshore boat???

I'm no nautical engineer, but 5 outboards on a 65' boat just seems stupid. I guess there's a reason as everyone does it. But I would imagine a couple of big inboards could run just as fast, yet be quieter, more fuel efficient, easier to maintain and even cost less.

That’s obviously because there’s no captain on board. Even though the conditions are rough there’s no reason that boat couldn’t manage that if he knew how to ride those inbound waves.

Am I required to have Radar? Radar is not required on vessels under 1600 GT (33 CFR 164.35), however, Rule 7 states that proper use shall be made of radar equipment if fitted and operational. In other words, whoever has one must use it. The Navigation Rules are not meant to discourage the use of any device, rather they expect prudent mariners to avail themselves of all available means appropriate...as to make full appraisal of the situation (Rule 5), e.g. the use of radar. At issue is whether the use of radar is appropriate in the prevailing circumstances and that is a determination made by the Master; and, ultimately decided by a trier of fact. Should you be in a collision how would a judge/jury rule on your contention that the use of radar was impracticable (due to electrical drain, crew shortages, etc.)? Also, if a collision does occur, then there was obviously a risk of collision beforehand. Could the determination of that risk have been made sooner with the use of radar? It is difficult to answer such questions because the circumstances of each case are different. ---the FCC requires all boaters with VHF radios to -monitor either channel 9 or channel 16 when you’re not communicating on another channel. By keeping these channels open, and by monitoring them closely, you can help to save lives.
