Here in Europe, it’s pretty common for children to be sea scouts. It’s a motorboat, not the hardest thing in the world. Also you’re all acting like this is her first time. The fact her parents are so relaxed is proof enough that she’s done this many times before.

Yep he’s riding in down the front of the wave(bad idea) and then throttles down so it catches him. Suddenly the wave is moving water forward as fast as his rudder is moving, so it stops working. So he loses control and swings side on to it. It could have rolled his boat over if the wave was bigger.

A couple on the 'high side' of the cockpit on a sailboat with the wind howling, waves breaking, and spray flying. Totally agree. I grew up in Point Pleasant. For years my dad was lifeguard captain for Jenkinson's, right there at the Inlet. The big difference between here and Haulover is the obvious amount of caution shown by the captains, as well as a much more modest fleet. Manasquan Inlet is very, very unforgiving. My dad has told of numerous people that have drowned just falling off the jetty and not being able to climb back out before getting beaten up on the rock faces. Great quality video. Glad I found it, and can "go home" for just a little while.

Absolutely agree! Any inlet that is assigned a Motor Life Boat station makes Haulover look tame! There's a reason why you never see big SF yachts on those channels - they'd ruin their "rough inlet" claim! That big Bayliss would blow through Haulover without batting an eyelash.

That old classic Boston Whaler with blue deck (Montauk or Nausea - not sure which) has always been my favorite fiberglass boat. But I wouldn't be taking it through Barnegat inlet, let alone the Manasquan.

when riding a big wave in,,, Never let the wave catch up to you from behind. it can flip your boat.. and shout out to the little girl captaining that vessel in the beginning of this vid.. she does a better job then most of the adults

The mystery Express may have been a Cruisers brand. Originally thought it too was a Formula but didn't seem to have the high end finish.
