I would've thought by the time the officers officially stopped him, he would go full Flintstones style with the car

According to protocol the cops will only do something drastic like a pit maneuver if the chase becomes dangerous, since the guy was going so slow there was no need for any risks to be taken as the chances of him causing an accident are pretty low. On chases like this where the danger level is so low they just wait it out, at that speed the guy can't even shake away the patrol cars much less the choppers anyways

But.. There was many PIT maneuvers. I saw a lot of instances where they could box him in, but I guess it would be more fun for the officers to do PIT's.

@@basstrammel1322 pit maneuvers are preferred unless they know for sure the suspect is unarmed. The cop just becomes too easy of a target if they're just slowing down or stopped close to the fugitive since you can't know what they'll do. On the other hand with PITs it's pretty safe to assume the guy won't start shooting while his car is spinning. Of course, even that is a risk that's only taken on emergencies. Usually if the guy is armed the patrol cars are told to keep a safe distance. No one besides onlookers really finds it fun to be involved in a car chase, every patrol cop from a big city knows a handful of colleagues who got killed in one. Can't really press respawn whenever that happens to you.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but your comment seems to read that they won’t do PITs at low speed, but I’ve been told numerous times they don’t PIT at high speeds (or at least shouldnt) because that’s far more likely to get someone killed than at low speeds

This reminds me of the Malcolm in the middle episode where Reese is going under the speed limit while being followed by 30 cops

I think the issue with the compact cars going for hours on no tires is that they're so damn light that they don't need that much support to roll as long as you don't gun it. So, in a way, yeah, the little compact Kia is running off dreams. It's literally running off of the fact that it's so light in comparison to other vehicle designs that it doesn't suffer as much damage over time from rolling on flats or just rims as a full Ford F-150 that is several tons heavier and sits all of that directly ONTO the tires.

It's like they want people to be getting killed and all this damage being done to property, people, and pets so it seems exciting to them. It's real life, not a TV show, we don't need it to be "exciting" for us while innocent people or pets around get killed and property gets destroyed and needs to be paid for, etc.

Its always been like this in la just that one crazy pursuit made it more interesting for everyone I’ve been watching pursuits for years
