Prinz Eugen is really similar to Atago in that they're both very old ships but because their kits are really simple and flexible (good guns, good armor, good speed combined with a heal, hydro or defenssive AA, and some planes) they're pretty much never going to become completely irrelevant as cruisers. And for Eugen it's particularly impressive especially when you remember that her main competitor in the German tree is Mainz which everyone has universally praised by this point.

Prinz Eugen used to be pretty much a copy/paste Hipper though, if you remember. It used to be a running joke at how bad value she was as a premium. It was only much later that they gave it a heal and sped the reload up on Hipper.

When I still bought Premiums in 2018 and before...Prinz Eugen was the only one I did not get...unfortunately. I guess I will live with my Hipper.

It’s all about the heal

For any prospecting Eugen players, from my own experience, it can definitely pull off more impact compared to the Hipper due to the heal, however the Hipper with better DPM is definitely a bigger deterrent to pushes. That being said, both ships get better the longer the match goes on as the amount of threats decreases and you can put your armor and health to use. Neither of them are DPM boats, but slow and steady wins the race.

Gotta love KZread speech and thought police. Can't show a Swastika, an Iron Cross, SS bolts, none of that, but can proudly display the hammer and sickle in honor of most glorious Communist Revolution.

Eugen was my first Premium. She looks great, feels great to play - and i barely play her. She's just not made for todays WoWs outside of brawls. The armor scheme is anemic and offers basically no resistance or bounce opportunities to any plunging shell. Angling won't help because of the 45 degree citadel slope. If there's a CV or sub on your flank that keeps you permaspotted, Eugen is a deathtrap. In my personal opinion, Eugen lacks the capabillities to decide a game. She's very reliant on teammates.

Eugen and Atago are good examples of why mid tier Cruisers should have heals.

I had KMS Prinz Eugen on my list for my German line. A couple years back WG offered a “Summer Sale”, where you purchased a specific ship in one of several tiers, and received two more “mystery ships” from the same tier. I purchased a U.S.S. Alabama bundle and received Lenin and Prinz Eugen as the mystery ships. I do enjoy playing my Prinz Eugen, and the historical background is a plus.

@@wote2760 The price was basically a discount on three ships. In essence, you paid full price for your chosen ship and got the two “mystery ships” at a steep discount (not free). If I recall there were tier 6, 7, and 8 bundles available. Definitely worth it.

The tier 9 Roon is also a good cruiser. I doubted her at first, but now love her. Pls do a video on her next.

Prinz Eugen actually has about 20mm more armor around the citadel than the Hipper, this is historically accurate too. IIRC the 20mm comes in from the back of the turtleback as well as citadel slopes. She is probably the second most tanky of the T8 CAs that have 203mm guns - first being Atago with her 41mm deck!

Getting heals earlier than you ordinarily would on cruisers is a big game changer, especially when they're quite tough to begin with as it's just more volume of HP that can be potentially recovered. Armour is great but raw HP will always be useful for soaking up sustained chip away damage and other stuff like burning. My Prinz Eugen has 48k health at T8 with 4 heals. That's damn tanky, plus she's versatile as fuck in so many roles. Also love Graf Spee... 42k health and 4 heals at T6 is frankly OP.

I would really love to dive both the Eugen and Yamato, but Eugen is much easier and therefore has a higher priority. I would also highly recommend full AA/secondary range German cruisers as they are extremely effective.

Only been in game a month but love the Eugen and play her more than any other ship.

I have money only for one ship and I can't decide Mainz vs Prinz Eugen.... for money farming and captains training etc. and for fun :)

It is a Fun ship in one vs one events with its torpedoes. My best german ship is still the graff spee, a real Tier 6 beast.

I've noticed that the P.E. has this remarkable ability to get citadeled from impossible angles while getting bounces and overpens when flat broadside...

I prefer the lighthouse build for the ship it really helps with the reload.

I really enjoy the tier 8 Hipper. Lots of people dis on it, but it's one of the better tier 8 cruises in the game with its recent buffs, its really goos if you know how to play. I do really well in it.

A lot of cruisers take citadels when getting tagged in the ass from many strange angles. I think it's because a lot don't have rear armour strips on the stern and shells can rip in at an angle to the stern tip of the citadel. Not sure, but I get it on many cruisers. In fact, I'm quite often rewarded for hitting cruisers in the rear with my battleships more than going for the citadel area under the turrets or midship.

It absolutely baffles me that you can be censored and canceled just by reference history of nazis and historical photos of nazis but anything involving the Soviet Union or CCP is totally cool

Wish we would get it back and make a cool museum out of it...

@@rosalina2938 oh yeah, the cost to turn it right side up, refloat it, plug all the holes and shore up 70 years of salt water rust would be immense, let alone any sort of restoration. It is a shame, beautiful ship with an incredible history.

on the console version of wows prinz eugen can swap her hydro for a main better reload booster.

You can still visit the Eugen in the pacific and even dive into her!

Eugen is nice but I would never pick it over Atago. Atago has Better torps Better concealment Better maneuverability Lack of weird armor Superior hull design 1 more turret Better HE And if I want a hipper class hull, I’d pick Mainz and Tallinn over it. Definitely better than Hipper because of the heal though

Its horrible to use her in these days, super battleships in every match. You can use the heal but it will get bullied around by everything regularly, even a T10 DD being able to kill you easily with just main guns. I think today it's just way too much power crept at this point. It is a very bad experience to use it because of how frail it is.

God I wish this thing has a slightly better reload, I'd even buy it for dubloons then. German cruisers quite fit me...

My favourite T8 Cruiser, though that spot is shared between Eugen and Hipper.

@@aristosachaion_ It really isn’t a ship for everyone. I feel like I get vibe checked for every single mistake made in the Hipper, however when played right, it can actually perform. If you are willing to continue the Hipper grind, my tip here is just to be patient. But coming from the Asia server, I probably can’t relate too much to the other servers.

@@aristosachaion_ Eugen is very similar and they used to be virtually the same. Hipper gets faster DPM, Eugen gets heal. I've not played Hipper in years, but I guess she must have just been powercrept. She used to be pretty good, certainly better than Yorck with it's super slow AP shells.

@@eragonrank5303 It's been my slowest grind so far. I've already gone from Iowa to Montana and am about to finish off Zieten, while Hipper, which I started before them, remains below 100k xp lol. I'm also on Asia server and playing there is just pain.

The Prinz Eugen on console gets the Main Battery Reload Booster consumables

And they STILL haven't fixed the engine damage for German Hipper-hull cruisers. It's kinda weird at this point that it's still a thing unique only to these cruisers that are otherwise already not the strongest and like to take lots of damage as it is.

If it doesn’t rely on gimmicks, it holds up. It’s why Yamato is still the best T10 tech BB. Everything that made it great is still there. The older premiums not getting ASW kinda pi$$es me off though.

It is really sad that youtube censores creators who dare to mention that certain "german political group" in a historical context. One day we will come to a point where even mention the name of these ships will get you cancelled, because they were assosiated with that certain "political group". Besides that, nice video!

Got it before Mainz, but using Mainz lot more than P.E.

1. I've grinded the Petro, as everyone said it's broken, but it's boring 2. I've grinded Preußen, good ship, but inaccurate, but awesome in ranked 3. I've grinded Worcester, good ship, but not my kind of gameplay I've started to grind the Italian cruiser, British light cruiser, german Battle cruiser and japanese bb line (all t8 now). Any recommendations for a fun line? It feels like all these lines are at t8 kinda crap crap...

Controversial opinion here, but the German gunboat branch of DDs. But ignore all concealment, take the rudder and acceleration mods and range skill. Then open water gunboat at anything that moves, I've been having a blast with it!

French DDs are an absolute blast to play. You basically move faster than most people can lead so you just pop speed boost and gunboat. Other than that the Schlieffen line was good fun. But it didn’t peak until tier 9.

@@rjald4910 Most likely concealment/cap control is the focus if you want to “win” games. For that British DDs can’t be beat. 3 min hydro, great acceleration and handling, a ton of smoke charges, great AP, and decent torps on top of a great base concealment by tier 8. Lightning through Daring being the gems so to speak.

My question is why they trying to erase the "certain political group" from history books🤔

That's half the reason I want this ship. The other half is they let me try it for 3 days and I got to like it. Though I think they should have used the English voice actor from the Azur Lane anime.

Eugen, a ship that manages to look good because its tech tree counterpart is hot garbage. It's got a good hp pool and a heal, in return it gets absolutely pathetic dpm, the concealment is bad and the maneuverability is meh. Hydro is good, but trying to hunt DDs when most DDs outdpm you is sad. The saddest thing tough about Eugen is that Atago exists, which trades a bit of range and a few k hp for just being about better in every conceivable way. Better damage output, one of the best concealment values of T8 cruisers, good speed with fast rudder, better torps, armour actually worth a damn (because 41 mm of deck actually does something, 27 mm of bow is at best good when top tier and not facing any of the T6-8 406/410 mm guns). Eugen and Hipper both have the fundamental weakness that "gets better the longer it stays in the game" is basically just saying it has no means to get any decisive impact fast (unless your opponent messes up) and you have to count on opponents ignoring your shit boat to farm damage in drawn out matches. Difference is, Eugen has the means to stay alive, Hipper doesn't. Hipper however is a stepping stone to Roon with acceptable dpm for its tier and Hindenburg, with good dpm for its tier, Eugen is 30+ bucks to hope for drawn out matches to farm some damage. Money better spent on getting atago, that does the same job better or on Mainz, that shaves off 2 mm off the largely inconsequential armour and gives you actual dpm. Ever got frustrated because NC just ignores Eugen armour and can citadel your through the ass anyway? Well, Mainz at least has the dpm to be one of the biggest annoyances an NC can face among T8 cruisers.

I'd say give it a shot but don't try to take all the stuff in all at once. You'll be glad to know that how to play the game hasn't really chanced since 2015, but WeeGee has added a lot of crap in, I'd say about 40% of which hasn't been necessary and has just kinda bloated the game into the mess it is today. I hope you weren't a big fan of CVs prior to the rework, though.

I think you're misunderstanding the situation. It's not people, it's KZread. KZread is notorious for censoring and demonetising channels for illegitimate reasons (especially history channels). It's also an automated system so he is just playing it safe. He could risk being demonetised, labelled as 18+ material or outright banned and it's not easy to challenge the KZread automated system. Also as an FYI, you don't get free speech on a private platform like KZread and as it is international, this is doubly true. If he was producing hate speech (which he isn't) and KZread did nothing, KZread could potentially be held liable.
