It was mostly Washington as South Dakota suffered an engineering casualty of epic proportions and withdrew.

@@wstavis3135 Correct. South Dakota knocked out her firing system if I remember correctly. That’s why I always chuckle when people try to claim the South Dakota class was superior to the North Carolina class or how great “Battleship X” was to her counterparts given the issues mentioned previously. Then again I am a little biased being a Tar Heel. That being said, Washington definitely carried the fight to the Kirishima regardless though.

An interesting piece of history of NC, she arrived at Pearl Harbor right after the Pearl Harbor was attacked, the sailors of Pearl Harbor cheered, NC was the newest and largest battleship they have ever seen

yes and supposedly was 35,000 tons.....limited by treaty. And supposedly Missouri was 45,000. Now it's kind of known that NC and the sister ship Washington were 45K...Ole Mo must've been 60K tons...

@@FlyHenryFlyYup she's the pride of our state. Her AA battery saved the enterprise set the bar for the duties of battleships and she participated in every major offensive.

Fun fact, some torpedos bulges were filled partially with water, and the rest with pressurized air. in the 1920s bulges were external, by the 30s the were being built internally. The more you know :)

Bulges already on ships in service by the end of 1914, and on ships seeking combat early 1915. Nelson and Rodney had belts (Internal/integral TDS). Relying heavily on water like you've said. So they've been around since at least as early as 1922 on paper, and in service since at least as early as 1925, never mind the 30's. The US South Dakota class was also designed with the TDS inside the hull, although she didn't rely on water, and it was quite different from Nelson. She was also given room in her dimensions for the Canal, for additional Torpedo protection. Unlike Tennessee and California, she couldn't fit through Panama (There's a list of engineering reasons why the South Dakota's wouldn't have been made as wide with a similar refit). TLDR, Torpedo bulges and belts were around long before the 20's and 30's :)

She always been a decent BB, though she was not as good back in the beginning of wows. This is what i belive were the buffs she has gotten over the time. Lowered citadel, better dispersion and buffed heal. My first line to tier X was the American BB line, and I did remember the upgrade from colorado to nc quite well. Also always found american BB AP the best to punish cruisers.

I've visited the NC in real life. She's a beautiful ship, and in the best shape of any museum ship in the US.

Funny you said that American players tend to develop the US lines first. I got the German Cruiser line finished before i got to T-6 on the American line. I like the N. Carolina because of the guns and do just fine with the front turrets only. It’s main weakness INHO is if you are in restricted waters with DDs around, you are vulnerable to getting deleted by torps. i have over 1500 battles with her NC paved way for more silver to buy ships in my dock lol. lover her !

I can drive 5 minutes down the road and see this ship every day. They have it in such a great spot for the entire downtown look here in Wilmington. I definitely recommend visiting it. The entire downtown has been rejuvenated, and she's an integral part. Years ago they used to do a firework show where they launched them off of her guns, but now when they do firework shows it's from the shore nearby.

Born and raised in North Carolina so this was the ship I craved above all others when I started playing the game. I'm so pleased that she has turned out to be a damn gud boat and I really enjoy playing her. Unfortunately I don't get to do so as often as I would like as I am constantly grinding some other tech tree ship, but she still remains one of my most cherished ships.

I highly recommend the tour of USS North Carolina (BB-55). As a boy, I and the other schoolchildren of NC raised much of the funds needed to preserve the ship. As a CDR I was able to give my family tours of North Carolina and Wisconsin. Since I was in uniform I did most of the tour and got to see a few places that weren't on the normal tour. I haven't been able to tour it since the latest refit was completed last year. FWIW - one of my uncles was a gunnery officer in the A turret of USS Washington (BB-56) when it mauled IJN Kirishima off Guadalcanal 14-15 November 1942.

NC was my go to ship back when I played this game! I've had so many games where I would be bottom tier and top of the board! I also remember catching alot of DD's (even T10s) off guard by using Expert Loader and the George Doe Captain to have HE shells ready in seconds.

In World of Warships Legends, I did once Broadside a Jean Bart...let's just say that I deeply regretted that decision for doing so.

NC is one of my highest win rate BB even though I hate the speed of her shells. Gud Bote!

First time I took the NC out I caught a torp under #1 turret and got some det flags.

The colorado was such a grind to get through, made me not play for a year, and made my friend quite. Just finaly got him back into wows a few days ago, lol.

Like others, have always loved the NC. FIrst battle with her, managed to catch a Nagato at around 8 KM full Broadside, obliterated her. 🙂

I free XP’d through the last 20k of Colorado and grabbed N. Carolina today. Only had time for one game (without upgrades) before work and it felt oh so sweet after Colorado. Bout to sell that slow turd first thing when I log on next.

It was a 1 v 1 between Washington and kirishima. South Dakota suffered an electrical failure and was focused on by the Japanese fleet while Washington was undetected and approached very closely to kirishima and opened fire

If I recall correctly According to the naval legends video the 16 inch guns fit better into the turrets than the 14 inch guns themselves did, and the turrets we’re designed for the 14 inch guns. Also greetings from North Carolina

Old but gold. Even tho my first pre buff experiences were not that nice (pre nerf 20km torp Shima meta) she always kept her port slot. I ll nver forget how i did oneshot a full hp Amagi from 19km with her.

Who needs a torpedo belt when you have a Mecklenberg and an Izumo blocking all the torpedoes with the classic wedge formation?

At close range and with the right angle it’s basically invulnerable to bb rounds. Forget about your rear turret. Protect the citadel. Upgrade your secondaries.

I had a much harder time in the N.C. than the Colorado. Yes, the Colorado is slow and those twin turrets don;t give much firepower. But, the N.C. has shells that are so slow that you cannot hit anything over ~12km. Cruisers will wait for your salvo then turn and dodge it. Good luck trying to hit BBs snipping at you from 18~20km because your shells take forever to get there and the lead borders on the ridiculous. DDs? Yeah, well, you miss 9 out of 10 salvos. Yes, those 16" APs hit hard, but you have to hit the enemy first and that is extremely hard with the N.C. This was also back in the days when US BBs have a raised citadel and getting into a brawl was suicide with them. The Colorado at least have "normal" speed shells and being slow means that you naturally tend to not over extend and get focused.

I absolutely love the line tier 8 and up. Iowa/Montana are goats; no gimmicks, no bullshit, just a badass chunk of steel.

NC with the KOTS perma camo looks awesome.

Hey Mountbatten, I was the one who was asking about your builds on the Colorado, N. Carolina, and Lexington, thanks for the info on that, I've got the NC and she is a great improvement over the Colorado, now i'm trying to get the Benson, and Lex, from what I've had to deal with in the Ranger, I would say that the Colorado was a breeze to grind though, Ranger has been harder, just for a laugh, the setup of your NC and my NC are ether the same or very close. ;) Just one quick question, the public test sever, it says that you get 30,000 dubs, 500,000,000 credits, ect., for the 1st time you log into it, my question is, is that reward placed on the PT sever account or the actual wargaming account that you would normally use for wow? Thanks for reading.

Massa should have brought the full secondary build. Whatever that build was, it didn't help him any.

When you end up here as a casual player and here all this talk of Sigma and country specific AP. Ah yes, indeed the AP is very American mhmmm. The sigma values truly are numbers aren't they? Still very interesting but obviously I have some learning to do before I can understand what all this information means.

North Carolina doesn’t have fighter now.

Seriouslyspeaking, I've tried it just this night. Dunno if I'm now used to other BBs or not but... OK shells are extremely slow. Like it take hours to hit something. And are eak as fuck. Accuracy also is weak even with the apposite modules. And it's strange since the Norca is a medium-long range BB. Every time I hit something is just 1400 damage. One single hit on nine. Oh and then there's the armor. Completely non existent. So you have to come closer to the target to hit something, but if you try that, no matter what, you get citadelled by everything. Even cruisers or destroyers. That's is fucking insane. Also she gets fire extremely easily. I mean, this night I was hit on what is supposed to be the radar of the ship... it gave me fire. I mean that don't even count as a hit because it's a ricochet but it gave me fire. What's next? Fire with AP? Whatever. She obviously have no more sense as AA ship since it doesn't matter anymore how much guns you have over the ship, CVs can just continue send infinite waves of planes (extremely realistic). I mean, back in the golden times I was a huge fan of the Norca. I was used to make hundred of thousand damage points per game... but now? She's just a target for cruisers. Literally despite the long range of her guns, there are cruisers that have more range. With inferior calibers. How's that possible only WG can try to explain. I'm sad thinking that from now on I'll not play anymore with Norca. Curiously today the Kersarge appeared in my port for no reason at all. I've not purchased it nor won is any container or else... Dunno where it comes from. I've tried it a couple of times but it's like the Norca. Weak armor, slow and inconsistent AP. Fighter wings can be useful but are just too few and weak to make any real difference. A superfluous ship.

Not Good For Rushed game Easy to citadel

Hey (while we are talking about gamechanging things) i returned to the game one month ago to grind the schlieffen only to find an american hybrid between a battleship and a carrier. How tf did that happen? What has wargaming been smoking? Kearsarge i think it was called?

As a cruiser main I learned to respect this ship. Then i see her broadside and I flip the biatch up...

Would Massachusetts be the same tier good in snipering if you built her not in secandary build?

Appears you, like I, have started going in circles in this game. Same maps for 7 years, same ships, same weather, still no land based guns or bases to capture. This has to be the least developed games ever. Only the graphics has improved. Great job on that. The game itself is like going to work, SSDD.

Hard working with fat usn battleship , new mex is fine , but Colorado is super painful to use with Once you grind over that crap then you get to NC , which have speed , good armor and good guns + good AA at those years Damnit it was totally different user experience compare to the Colorado ! Mountbatten, you kept talking about "signatures" relative to the Washington and London Naval Treaties. "Signatures" was the wrong word. The proper word is "signatory". A signatory is a party that has signed an agreement, especially a country that has signed a treaty: "the signatory states" .

honestly I think the nc feels better to play than the iowa does.

Me who saved a Big Bunch of Camoes, can just sell them all.. They have no place in the game anymore.. No benefits at all.. Nice job Wargaming

The benefits of all your camos were transferred to the Economic Bonuses and the ones from premium ships became permanent bonuses. You can now modify the bonuses for your ships separately. In addition, many of the camos left that you may not like (but in the past had good benefits) can be sold off for credits. I sold off so many that I was able to buy several new ships. It works out as a better system.

@@HerrStaale Camos are now like transmog items in other games. They serve to enhance things visually. You have not lost the beauty of them. I prefer adding the eco bonuses per ship and not being forced to use some god-awful ugly camo to gain a benefit. It is too bad you don't like the changes. WG giveth and WG taketh away. Deal with it or uninstall the game.

Am I the only one who actually enjoys Colorado and prefers it over NC XDD?

I just got the Puerto Rico, I didn't play it to much like 2 games buy from what cam tell I like it, I've always loved kronshtadt and alaska and prinz eugen so it fits my alley it's definitely a fun ship I feel confident fighting back in and killing annoying ass dds a bit.

As bad as the US BBs are between V-VII, they really ought to drop at least one of those, maybe shift some down if playable at a lower tier, or just replace them all

They could shift the Colorado down by 1, same with the New Mexico, and the New York, remove the Arkansas. Then put the USS Indiana BB-58 (a SD class) at 7 where the lines split. That would help with the transition between the old and new including the newest fat boy battleships (Kansas, Minnesota, and Vermont).

I didn't like this ship. The shells are so slow I'm not sure who would win a race between a Colorado and North Carolina 's shells

The game is getting pretty ridiculous to be honest. Even battleships just island camp and spam HE for entire matches now. They just keep hamstringing battleship players with more and more mechanics that they really can't handle effectively.

The ship is crap. Its AA does not do the damage it should The secondaries do NOTHING. The ship is farmed ezy and can hit nothing. Soviet bias or something, but it really sux.
