World class car collection hidden in plain sight | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 61 (Part 2/4)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's day one of the road trip from Midland, Texas, to McPherson, Kansas, and Tom has already struck gold. Hidden just outside of Lubbock, TX, lies a yard chock-full of desirable muscle cars that normally would make Tom go wild. But in this case they were all overshadowed by a particular orange Pontiac. Follow along as Tom checks another rare and desirable car off his barn find bucket list with the discovery of a GTO Judge.

The longer I watch this video the more I understand why it’s so hard to find old cars because people like this have hundreds of them rotting away in their yards and refuse to sell them and have no possible way to restore them

The guy with all the cars and trucks, I’ve seen this story playout so many times, he never gets around to getting anything really restored, and then he passes on and the kids see nothing but money and they try to sell everything for more than it’s worth, when if the guy would of sold some of them to fund a few projects he would either have a nice collection of restores cars, or a pocket full of money from restoring and selling.

Charity or something to encourage new blood in the hobby. So much good can come from it. He'd said something a good home in Kansas for a good cause. I want to see that! This was an amazing video. Finnegan and many other channels do the low budget build's of stuff of their own taste. I know how many people have comments on how you see it all time and it's not untrue. As a kid before car's took over my life I met an old guy who was a neighbor of a guy who I stayed with for a vacation and he collected steam engine's in Pennsylvania and when he died and they auctioned off his collection people came from other continents! Enjoy it before you die!

The amount of property they have, the buildings, the parts, it’s mind boggling. Would love to know what they did/do for a living. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to have anything finished. One day we went in to look for some parts and I saw a blue Judge sitting there all original black interior. I asked my uncle if they would sell the car, he said lets ask. I gave all the money I had saved up and bought that car for $ 1000.00 It was in bad shape, window was left open, tires all flat and the brakes locked up. I worked on that car every day after school and on weekends for about 5 months. My uncle helped of course. I made that car look like brand new. I drove that car for about 10 years, still mint condition. I finally sold it to a guy from California for $ 31,500. I Will never forget that car. I asked would they se

With boomers in heavy die-off mode and only a tiny percent of younger guys having the ability (let alone the desire) to own classic muscle, their values will simply continue to drop. Too much supply, while demand dries up equals big losses. So NOT saving every one might actually help stave off some of those loses... Sad.

I’ve seen these kind in Kansas. I used to be a volunteer firefighter. One day I was off my regular job, and my pager went off for a possible house fire, just three miles from my house, in the country. When I went to get in my truck, I looked North and saw a column of smoke, dirty gray in color. A typical cookout for structure fires. I was there before the trucks arrived, and the house was already completely engulfed. However, that wasn’t all that was on fire. This place has hundreds of different kinds and makes of cars. Old ones, not so old ones, cars, trucks, convertibles, antiques, you name it, and it was probably there. And probably a quarter of them were already burning. No fire hydrant, although there was a water tower about 3/4 miles away. We all hoped upon hope and prayer that the resident, an old guy in his 70’s, a widower, wasn’t there. However, we found out he was there, and had been consumed by the fire. After all was said and done, his house, garage, two barns filled with cars, and likely over 100 cars, were either completely burned or so damaged by fire, they basically was trash. They had an auction if you want to call it that, for people that wanted some of the bodies for other restorations, but I Sunny think any of them brought more than a hundred, and that was few. Some were just dragged out and hauled away for free, what was left was picked up by a salvage owner for $25 apiece. The sad part was, this guy was just like the last guy. Bought ol all these cars, with intent to restore them,, got carried away, wife died, daughter lived in NC, I believe, the guy had let the house and the other buildings insurance lapse, let life insurance lapse, despite the daughters plea to let her help him, and to sell the cars so he would have some money, and move next door to her and his son-in-law, in a house they owned as well, rent free. Instead, they ended up paying to have everything bulldozed and hauled away, and ended up selling the land for way under what it would of if the dad would have listened to her and some of his friends that kept trying to help him. I’ve seen other people the same way, just like this. This guy will end up dying, and leaving it to someone else if there is, just as we all saw it. What a waste of someone buying some of them and reassuring them. But, that’s his choice.
