Working with Hair-on-Hide Leather: Edge Binding on a 1851 Navy Holster ASMR Leathercraft

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this leather working video I make a western style holster with a hair on hide leather inlay and edge binding for an 1851 Navy. Some may call this a turned edge or a French binding. But since it's a separate piece of leather from the lining it doesn't really qualify as a French binding.

I do believe that's the best all round leather craftsmanship I've ever seen. Makes me feel like giving it all up. Also, since I've no interest in holsters or saddles etc I've never even thought about using thicker leathers but this has shown me that there are more techniques and possibilities to explore. Thank you and extremely well done.

Its beautiful my friend! I have a small suggestion you may give a try, by an angelus paint marker and fill it with whatever color you kdo your binding with, then once its well run the middle of the tip down a sqaure wood block edge to create a divet, then you can run it right along the edge of your binding in that divet. Not that your skill with a paint brush isnt godly lol just figured Id pass along the tip. Great work again!
