YOU NEED SKID PLATE ! DEFINITELY UNDER REAR ! DEFINITELY ALWAYS NEEDED TO PROTECT SHAFT / DIFF HOUSING AND REAR DISC BRAKE. NEVER RUN WOODS AND ROCKY TERRAIN WITHOUT SKID PLATES UNDER REAR AND UNDER ENGINE ... !

I agree 100 percent. The casting on these old atvs becomes very brittle after so long!!!
