You missed several points with the gal vorbaks: They are corrupted meaning they will never have to take a morale test, they will only suffer perils You should (not to say MUST) take some power fists in the unit to get that sweet str10 to one shot enemy elite, they will get expensive sure but a necessary choice They can easily take out some other multiple wounds with this while not being ID by power fists + rage they get so many attacks I don't think the comparison with Custodes is fair as the Custodes line unit is busted It's like comparing something with a contemptor, we all know they are too good. Everything will feel worst compared to them. Thanks for this vids though, great way of leaning some new stuff 😉

Ye your definately right on the necessity of the fists With the boons from dark brethren RoW making something like a command squad (game coming out tomorrow has this) S5 for killing a sacrifice unit I just sort of think it steps on the gal vorbaks “boosted marine” role a bit (and does it better as they can have a ton of the guaranteed AP2

If you think the Gal Vorbak are worth their points you must not have run into any other elite units. They all pretty much crush the Gal Vorbak like a piece of paper.

Excellent video as usual chaps. I’ve played word bearers since 2.0 launch but this was super informative, James really knows his stuff. Word bearers are a weird army but when everything goes well it can be crazy. There’s nothing funnier than buffing the weakest primarch up and having him kill the his much tougher brothers. So far I’ve had Corax and Ferrus in my gaming group using the engagement range trick your guest in the iron hands video talked about. People are always bewildered when it happens😂.

Glad you enjoyed it mate! The engagement thing is crazy isn’t it, and I can’t even be mad at it cos it’s a great tactic and not like it relies on taking a waacy star, I mean it can be done by a preator to a primach! Hopefully you’ve been smacking them about with a buffed lorgar though!

Really liked this vid.

Another point that is crucial with Word Bearers: as you have a lot of corrupted unit that are causing fear, every time you have a way to force pinning chekcs yuou should be happy ie: Kor Phaeron causes a pinning buble test at -1. Plus if you are forcing this with some night fighting it's -2 (not very common as you need to be within 12" at best during turn 1/2)

A great point, it’s such a massive part of the game is now utilising this and it’s a great way Even just having a unit bomb in and be a fear bomb and firing a rotor cannon into a unit could start pinning things out of the game fairly fast!

Amazing video however when talking about rage, I believe a few times it was mentioned +1 attack on the charge and then 2 more due to rage. I do believe the rage takes over the +1 attack not adds on

@@BearfootMiniatures rage doesn't matter that much anymore, Certainly when someone can use hold the line so it causes disordered charges lol

Thanks for the video lads. Any chance of another with some list ideas based around the many special characters? Zardu is a favourite of mine but I am really struggling to work out a list for him. In particular I'd be keen to know how you'd kit out a retinue for him.

I shall try to get a list from James and if you message me on FB (so I’ve got a contact for you) I’ll forward it on! In the meintime I imagine the list James uses with Erebus that will be in the game that’ll release tomorrow would work well!

Great video... but would love to see some examples of how you put the lists together with that information. Just a little confused at the end on what James would normally do with those points in a list.

The first Warlord Trait wouldn't make a Praetor str10 with a thunderhammer. The bonus to strength is applied after the x2 from the thunderhammer. Stat bonuses are always applied after the multiplier

See multiple modifiers page 147. Apply multipliers first and then any additions or subtractions As the Warlord Trait or rites say unit gains +1str etc that is added on after the multiplier from the weapon effect. Their base str is still 4. They have a x2 and a +1 The x2 is done first then the +1

Your right, same with biomancy doubling I suppose (dont know why its in my brain for furious charge and it didnt trigger for this rule)

If you have a praetor with burning lore in a corrupted squad the dark and terrible psychic power only affects the praetor right?

Oooh correct! I think I was saying it that way but James may have been saying it correctly (and just crossed wires) good buff to a preator then but more reason to go Libby aswell to get a biomancy praetor

I think you're wrong about upgrading the apothecary with Dark Channeling. The Apothecarion Detachment rule says that the unit splits at the start of the battle, but the upgrade is purchased during list creation. I don't see why you would have to pay more than one time to upgrade all models in the unit.

I wouldn’t be arguing with this interpretation tbh, it seems odd to be the other way (and prohibitively expensive) Edit: double checked and your right! Better than we’d thought and I bet James’ll be happier about them!

This video has a ten thousand errors. First and foremost, corrupted characters can join NON-corrupted units, but a noncorrupted character cannot join Corrupted units.

Good call actually double checking the wording it’s only joining which I suppose is a one way action by the IC not either way
