I love the Gaunts Ghost books, they show how terrible the life of a Guardsmen is but also how a single Regiment of only a few thousand Guardsmen can change the course of a whole crusade.

Grunts go above and beyond the call then get either a fraction of the credit, penalized for their success or ignored while their “betters” get glowing praise/promotions for waking up and being either useless at best if not actively inhibiting their subordinates success more often than not. In both the modern day as well the grim dark future it stays true that mens lives take second priority to commands politics and spotless record.

In the grimdark mess of 2020, at least there is 40K lore videos. Thanks ABP.

@@kieranh2005 one year late I know. The thing is his armor is utterly impractical. Having a few spikes on your armor is gonna be impractical no matter what but he litteraly just a porcupine.

This may be heresy but traitor guardsmen is probably one of the most underrated elements in 40k. Their whole concept is so cool and helps flesh out how chaos tainted humans can be so deadly to the imperium.

Great stuff,I'm a massive fan of Gaunts Ghosts & this was an awesome few hours listening.I'm 56 but I can still remember listening to radio plays & the goons,so this has reawakened something in me....I'm currently starting to roll through your catalogue- I have landspeeders,terminators & a vanguard squad to paint in the outstanding livery of the imperial fists........back to it then!

I started my dive into 40k lore with Gaunts Ghosts

i know it had to take a while to get this done but i loved it absolutly kept me riveted i also love your reading of books hopefully you can do more cain books i love that cheky bastered

Gaunts Ghost were my favorite guard books!

You need a high quality compass, sextant and ruler to go with that map. This is so much better than the first set. I really hope you consider redoing them. But I cant complain because it was your Gaunts Ghost series that brought me here so many years ago

@@eichler721 I’ve read the novels, the fact that the ghosts took on so many chaos cultists with the eldar while under illusions making them think they were back on their doomed world with such tenacity and zeal that the higher ups thought that it must of been a error in record keeping rather than correct force measurements will always be awesome/sad/funny to me. Gaunts Childs body guard and the way they described her way of fighting as well as her zealot devout to her child’s protection will always make it start to rain a little the same can be said about the line “I am mortis” and that man’s last glorious stand against the arch enemy, he went out like a true hero in a fashion every man can hope to aspire to. If you haven’t looked into the “sharpe” series of books as well as the show then I highly recommend it. Gaunt is a strategic genius and a great fighter and leader of men but cain is the best at tactics and a living legend at both inspiring his troops as much as he is a monster in combat. I’d say Cain is better at politics too which matters as much as anything else does in 40k. Gaunts gets strung up by politics as much as Cain leverages them homie got that ordoussy and at least 2 chapters of marines ready to throw down for him if need be. Some tau of all things too. Not to mention one of the best and fastest growing armies of space Russians in the setting to boot. I will say that the first and only have the best mascot though, it’s adorably deadly and plays the bag pipes!

I can add to what he said about the Audible series at the end. Any of them narrated by Toby Longworth are bangers, he's the same guy who did the Eisenhorn series and he knows his stuff. There's a few older one's that he hasn't gotten up to yet and their age really shows.

My first series of books I ever read was the dragonlance series.

Is this a compilation of the previous videos? I know I have heard pieces of this video in previous installments.

I like the content as always and appreciate the effort you put into them but I feel these longer videos would be better being split into 45-60 min videos that I could watch/listen to on my lunch, like some other KZreadrs do. You could schedule them once or twice a week for regular content. Sometimes diving into a 3 hour plus video is off putting at the time and you end up saving it for later or accidentally forget about it.

This video randomly came into my algorithm and I enjoyed it. I vaguely remember 40K from when I was a lot younger but never knew anyone that was playing the games/into it.
