Kryptman was excommunicated for more than "just" Octarius" he purged hundreds more loyal worlds as to creat a fire-break for the Tyranids. His excommunication was very valid. Hundreds of splinter fleets branching off to hunt more and more. His tactic blocked them, denied them that biomass and brought the Imperium time to establish proper forces in the area to deal with it and handle the growing ork threat. Even if we are generous, I would imagine at least half of the world's he wiped out would have fallen any way. His method ensured no genestealer infiltrations, no splinter fleets, no massive expenditure of imperial guard troops & heavier assets. It could have been worse.

The situation in the Octarius system had been drawn into a stalemate. The cordon that the Inquisition established after Kryptmans downfall, was full of holes. As for Gillman, I doubt he would openly do anything against the inquisition do to their power base at this time, because it could spark a second civil war. Also, he's to pragmatic and will treat this in the same way he treated the gods blight virus. The Lion on the other was built for situations just like this one.

  • @hammer1349

The Inquisition vs Guilliman and likely the Lion is think is inevitable. As much as he hates the Ecclesiarchy and the Imperial Faith, guilliman has come to accept its importance in maintanining the imperium so far. He knows it is all lies but sometimes that is what people need to hear to keep them fighting. The Inquisition provides no such service and can be quite reasonably viewed as a threat to the imperium itself. The question then becomes who has the higher authority: those who claim to carry out the Emperor's will or the ones He calls his sons.

You didn't mention the best part of him lying to Uriel, see the Ultramarines had found these refineries over a gas giant and placed in the path of the hive ships that were coming to that planet, waited until one of the hive ships were starting to eat before detonating it instantly killing one and a huge number of hive ships allowing them to easily take out the other. This mission probably had the fewest casualties of any mission Uriel ever embarked on and it was for nothing because the planet it was buying time for was bombed out of existence. Them taking those two ships out being helpful is dubious at best because it also caused the Imperial Guard to try the refinery trick again in the final battle not realizing that Tyranids know what happened last time and won't fall for the same trick twice so the Tyranids hurled it into the middle of the defensive lines and set it off taking out their flag ship.

Taking out the Inquisition, & Eclisiarchy alone would be a monumental task with their fingers in every planet & eyes everywhere. And likewise, the tyranids might be able to grow with each devoured world but how many worlds do they get to devour with an entire ork empire battling them?

That is assuming all the worlds are colonised to the extent that our current earth is. Given they were allowed to be abandoned and sacrificed, I doubt the populations would be that extensive. And who's to say that it won't just include the Imperial Fists or the Black Templars at this point the Inquisition has been more of a hinderance biting the very hand which protects the imperium Space Marines in general have most notably been *forced* into hiding because of the amount of fear and hatred the Inquisition causes. The most logical race to me who will triumph seems to be the orks. Orks, like some already said, release spores that grow faster the waaagh increases. Also orks like to pass the word of a guud fight through the galaxy, and warbands and their warbosses come to join. They travel inside asteroids who can easily pass any screening, and also use their "spaceship" to smash into their opponents as weapon. Thats how Ghazghkull has fresh reinforcements in Armaggedon, not only his warband, he only makes clear he is the Boss. Old Ones created Orks to fight the hordes of daemons in the past, and they were effective. Imperium estimated that the number of orks in the galaxy is immense, and that only internal fighting keeps them from uniting, and their estimate of ork numbers is still very modest. (there are ork spores in asteroids floating in space!) Tyranids always had the upper hand against Orks because Orks rarely fought them in a constant waagh, they isolated the Warboss and cut him down, orks went in disarray and were easy targets. But the chilling part is that the Warboss in Octarius, is growing in size, is learning the Tyranids way, and gathering a massive Waagh host... and escapes assassination atempts (maybe learned the hard way with the nids!). At this point only Ghazghkull could smash his head and take the Octarius Waagh! Leviathan Hive Ships if destroyed take considerable time to grow, and its worse if no worlds are there to consumed. Leviathan seem not be able to signal other Hive Fleets to join the fray. But Leviathan seems to be pushed to the limit and adapting fast! But nothing beats Plot Armour!! so... we must wait and see whats best for GW Business! Nice Vid.

Pretty sure Octarius concluded a while back. Ghazghkull paid Octarius a visit and left, taking some boyz with him and that the Swarmlord itself killed the Overfiend of Octarius, devouring its brain. Of course Octarius is still a war zone but the Nids more or less won with the lead Warboss of Octarius dead and the Nids taking advantage of the infighting amongst the Orks.

Thing is kryptman didnt fail. He brought the imperium time, had he not the tyranids would have used their new biomass to snowball into a force that would have likely taken the entirety of the imperiums might to destroy. Lets be honest its unlikely the imperium would ever be able to concentrate and to ignore its other wars enough to actually do so. Add to that hindsight and what would have happened had they actually did, it would have essentially lost at least half the imperium once the great rift happened and whatever military was fighting them was isolated from the half of the imperium on the otherside of the rift. We can clearly say kryptmann saved the imperium for realsies with his actions.

What would the presence of even a Primarch accomplish here on the sheer scale of the forces involved? Heck, what would the *EMPEROR'S* presence even accomplish. I doubt even the full powered Emperor would have been able to stop both forces converging upon one world let alone an entire system assuming he had the same resources the deathwatch had on hand. Even if the Emperor could shield the entire world he was on, and kill every xenos upon it, that's saving 1 out of over twenty worlds. And then the 'nids would become several times more numerous in the system and the orcs would rally even greater armies. The point is, even with returning Primarchs, unless they come up with a plan to cut off the 'nid hivemind at the root, then they are done.

Watchmaster was probably a former Marine Malevolent. Also people say Guilliman's reforms failed because "hurr durr mah leahdgionz" while Space Marine chapters helped keep Imperium in one piece while as planned - minimizing scale of any force of space marines going Chaos. Meanwhile Malcador ideas like regular human led Imperium and Inquisition are failing again and again - "MALCADOR TEH HEROEH" - we do not deserve good lore.

Ok, so what is so special about Octarius that it can't be Terminated? I mean, we've already come this far. Yes, the populations purged were innocent but they served a purpose. It wasn't murder for murder's sake. It was a sacrifice of the few for the many.

in the Horris heresy there was an incident in the Ishvan massacre that so many people were dying at once that it blocked out the astronamicon making warp travel impossible which is kind of crazy when you think about it it like there a paradox going on and no one wants to break it

@@jonharrison9222 it's not genocide. It's collateral damage at best and mass murder at worst. Genocide is the purposeful extermination of people bc they are a specific people. Exterminatus wasn't declared as some sort of ethnic cleansing.

Sounds awful and I would agree against any other faction, but as the Tyranids are probably the biggest threat, dropping a system doesn’t seem to bad.

Inquisitor lord, is a rank. Lord inquisitor would be a title only one person could hold. 40k doesnt have a lord inquisitor, it has inquisitor lords.
