    At first glance, I thought this was going to be a recipe for fondue! I will have to re-think using wax as a finish. I have used mineral oil but never a blend. Very good video!

    Very interesting, thanks a lot! A had a chunk of unused beeswax I used as sealant when I lost the o-ring in my brush. The same chunk left lying there unused since I stopped modelling 3 years ago. Last summer I tried to use it on the body of my bass as some sort of wax but it didn't work. Yesterday I sanded away the paint on the neck of my other bass and the wood was bare. I was curious to test the beeswax and mineral oil mixture and it sealed it very well.

    @@AvivaSingsOut it has been a lot since I did it but I just melted a big block of beeswax in baby oil, in equal amounts more or less, probably more baby oil to thin the nixture down.

    what ratio is used for mineral oil to wax?

  • @WoodsmithShowandmagazine

    @WoodsmithShowandmagazine

    A good starting point is 2 parts mineral oil to 1 part wax... then add more a less wax to get the hardness you want.

  • @WoodsmithShowandmagazine

    I usually use a 2:1 - Mineral oil to beeswax. The more beeswax, the harder it will be. The more mineral oil, the softer and easier spreading it will be.

    Outside of my bias for his speech/accent that omits many of the consonants in the English language, I like his information. I like that he is a beekeeper..and that he knows the difference in the wax. I like that he waits for his wife to leave before using the oven...smart self-defense. good stuff. Get rid of the accent... i do... but ill fine grit sand and put an oil first and let it soak for about 2 hours, then ill take a block of pure beeswax and just keep running that on the wood and it takes a LOT more elbow grease but it makes it really water proof
