So glad that you mention Alfie Shine here, my friend; it's my favourite treatment on all of my antique tools... Marvelous stuff!
I thought I knew a great deal about wax since I keep bees also, but wow, I learned a lot here! Thank you!

At first glance, I thought this was going to be a recipe for fondue! I will have to re-think using wax as a finish. I have used mineral oil but never a blend. Very good video!

Yum, shop fondue. :)
Thank you! To what proportion do you add mineral oil with beeswax for a food cut board finish?
Is it ok to use it with hot drinks, is it gonna effect the taste of the drink?
Can there wax finishes be applied to stained wood without messing up the color. Most specifically those including driers like mineral spirits?
Building a bee hive will the first mix work for weather protection?
Can you explain in french how you mix wax and oil and proportions ?.. Thank you
Very interesting, thanks a lot! A had a chunk of unused beeswax I used as sealant when I lost the o-ring in my brush. The same chunk left lying there unused since I stopped modelling 3 years ago. Last summer I tried to use it on the body of my bass as some sort of wax but it didn't work. Yesterday I sanded away the paint on the neck of my other bass and the wood was bare. I was curious to test the beeswax and mineral oil mixture and it sealed it very well.

what is the recipe? Did he say it? I must have mixed it - even watched twice lol is it just a little mineral oil added to the beeswax?
@Cake_Doge

@@AvivaSingsOut it has been a lot since I did it but I just melted a big block of beeswax in baby oil, in equal amounts more or less, probably more baby oil to thin the nixture down.
Can I use Alfi shine on antique oak furniture?
how much mineral oil do you mix with the beeswax? - great vid by the way
You had me at Sam Maloof.

Great tips. I'll have to but a cheap saucepan so I don't use my wife's pans. Thanks, Huw

@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine @HuwDavies I use a cheap yard sale crock pot dedicated to wax melting. Works like a charm, no risk of overheating. Best, @HoneyOnWales

what ratio is used for mineral oil to wax?
@WoodsmithShowandmagazine
5 жыл бұрын
A good starting point is 2 parts mineral oil to 1 part wax... then add more a less wax to get the hardness you want.
Very interesting. What ratio of wax/mineral oil do you recommend?
@WoodsmithShowandmagazine

I usually use a 2:1 - Mineral oil to beeswax. The more beeswax, the harder it will be. The more mineral oil, the softer and easier spreading it will be.

@@WoodsmithShowandmagazine Thanks. I'll experiment with it.
Outside of my bias for his speech/accent that omits many of the consonants in the English language, I like his information. I like that he is a beekeeper..and that he knows the difference in the wax. I like that he waits for his wife to leave before using the oven...smart self-defense. good stuff. Get rid of the accent... (riiight)

Logan does have a pretty thick Iowa accent. :) His wife probably watched this video though, so the jig is up.

Can I use just beeswax to finish my chopping board?
@saffron1996
3 жыл бұрын
i do... but ill fine grit sand and put an oil first and let it soak for about 2 hours, then ill take a block of pure beeswax and just keep running that on the wood and it takes a LOT more elbow grease but it makes it really water proof
Why is your hand down there

dozukime - Logan does have very nice hands... I think it is from handling all that beeswax. It keeps them soft and supple. :)
