You could make a lamp using the lid as a base and the bowl as a shade. The light wouldn’t go up or out so much as straight down, since the shade is opaque, but it would be pretty funky.

I dig the whole concept. It's quite original and unique. That's why I like it. It's a very cool design. At first, when you were talking about making a lid with the gold section, I was thinking ice bucket. That would've been cool. But, things took a turn and you had to do what you had to do. Still, it's a very nice piece. My only complaint is that you basically completely turned away an entire log that certainly would've made something else really nice. I don't think I've ever seen anyone turn away an entire piece of perfectly usable wood like that.

As far as the lid, you could turn that into a shallow pot with a lid. Part it in half again, hollow it out, add a knobby finial. Like a small jewelry box. Oh there’s another idea. A jewelry box made out of costume jewelry and resin.

So, I've just started the vid and wanted to answer the question in your title. Yes. Yes, I can. I have. I make pens and using aluminum or copper as accents turns really easily on even my tiny pen lathe. on your lathe? No problem. Can't wait to see the vid! Edit: Yeah, you need to have the aluminum fully supported or it'll do that. Also, since the resin doesn't actually stick to the aluminum well, you kinda set yerself up fer voids and breakouts. Despite the setbacks, the final bowl looks amazing! I hope you don't give up on aluminum cans, they have a lot to offer!

I admit, at first I thought the black resin was a poor choice, but wow does it make the aluminum pop and shine in the final product. Absolutely the right choice! As for the lid, can you not remount it from the current point that would have been the "inside", and just make a larger lip just above the one you have, that would fit? It makes the lit a bit shorter, but oh well. A shorter lit is still taller than no lid at all.

A unique concept, and it turned out phantasmagorical. Love the can colours showing through. I would have found a bowl, or something round, about the size of the bowl part, and filled it to 1/2 inch, 12 mm ), to 1 inch, ( 25 mm ), of resin, any colour you wish. Now I could return the end to the size for the lid to fit. Just my thought, as I like the lid with the wood center. Great look regardless.

Love the metallic marbling effect of the bowl. A real can do attitude will get things done. Maybe the lid can be another shallow bowl, a clock face perhaps? Rocky is the best boy. He's surely the channel's mascot. Have you used salt in any resin works?

I love the "top" in gold 😍 Really a shame it doesn't fit.. How about making it into a flat bowl. Got water in and floating lights? 🕯 What a wonderful puppy 🥰😍🤩🐶

This makes a very nice dog bowl. Is it me, or am I the only one who would like to see something like this except with a lighter color resin. I am not really partial to black anything, but, the bowl is still very pretty, just use a lighter color.

I have to say that came out really beautiful, when you first started and it was getting sharp spots and openings in the cans I was having my doubts, but as usual you pulled it out and made another amazing masterpiece, my friend. Can't wait to see what you do with the other part, bummer that they didn't workout together but I am looking forward to what becomes of that too. But this one is beautiful great job. 👍👍👍😊

The bowl is stunning! It makes me think of those ancient Japanese laquer bowls. Very, very well done 👍🏼

Refill the bottom part with resin and some type of medium to where it's soft enough that you can refit the cap, without the aluminum damaging your bits because you will already have it drilled out in the center of the plot and by medium I mean let's just say you can mix aluminum foil or something soft in the resin to refill the core that you've drilled out it would give you the same effect but not tear your tools up as much is the aluminum cans would because you have already took care of that and by doing this with the aluminum foil and refilling what you've already turned on the inside it would give you a snug fit on your cap. Just an idea love what you do your servant, Warren

That came out really awesome! I have to say that I wasn't thinking you could do anything with cans on a lathe but you mastered it! 👍😃

I really like your *can*-do attitude towards your projects! The swirly silvery lines of the cans look really good set into the dark nlack of the resin!

Of all your far fetched ideas that some how turn out to be great, this by far my favorite. The colors in the black resin was amazing!!

I was so confused at first, of why you'd do that to cans, but then I remembered that not every country has the cans have monetary value, here in Norway you get a tiny bit of money when returning plastic bottles and cans, sending them into a machine that count them at grocery stores, so they all end up recycled.

Wow! Not what I thought it would look like at the start. So much better as a bowl where one can admire the inside as well as the outside! Keep these works of art coming! Can you do more stuff with feathers or gears or streamers of different colored paper?

My favorite part was the puppy! Honestly though, it's a cool result. I was worried about the shrapnel and sharp metal flying everywhere. Maybe the lid could be cut in half and made into plates?
