    G’day Phillip.nice fruit well finished. I would like to tun a pear where the top of it, narrrow part is bent. I use multi axis turning. I would have to tun top first, but how wood I support pear to turn base. Any suggestions. I did turn one a few years ago, it was difficult to hold for turning base.

    Thank you Greg for your comment. One way is as your suggest is to turn the top first. To finish the base I would place a piece of wood in the chuck, this can be a softwood. This needs to be a larger diameter then the pear and longer as well. This piece needs to be hollowed out on a slight taper. The aim is to hold the pear top inserted first and then line up the base with the revolving centre in the hole in the base of the pear. This needs to be a tight fit. This is basically a jam chuck.
