Why is Turning a Flower on a Lathe so Much Fun?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I demonstrate turning a flower on a lathe using a skew and a very green branch or shoot. I show multiple examples and a big blooper! These are a great addition to a twig pot. If you find my videos helpful, you can buy me a virtual cup of coffee with this link. www.buymeacoffee.com/mikepeace3Y

I first learned this technique after I bought a set of Colwin Way signature Skews. He put out a video on using the skews and these flowers were one of the projects that he used. I've also made these with a trumpet in the center. You make that first before pealing back the flowers. I've also used an air brush sprayer to put color dye on them. Great project though.

That really was fun, Mike.Speed 2,500 plus? I've seen Christmas trees turned slowly in Lime that way, and,of course, mushrooms, which don't excite me. Must have a go at this, having plenty of green stock from wild trees in the garden. Thanks, Bernard.

Those are pin jaws. Also great for drilling a 1 1/8" hole for initial bowl mounting.

Neat idea! Could you of turned the back of the flower first and then made the petals? Might be easier?
