Beautiful video first time I've ever seen a black squrriel. Here in Alabama the temperature is suppose to be 72 Christmas day.. Merry Christmas

Did the Pileated ever get the opening big enough to get inside?

He abandoned his efforts when it got to be about a foot long, perhaps he didn't like that it was close to my house and there were many squirrels using the tree as a stopover to the peanut feeder. But small birds have used it as shelter on stormy days 👍.

@@debbieanneEVG Thank you for the update! In my area of North TX, we on occasion (but rarely) can have a Pileated spotting! I was grateful to see him utilizing that powerful beak! 💕
