Been wanting to make my own rollers for bike training inside... was gonna use this method and make 3 large diameter dowels... Do you think if I used this method would I need a metal rod to go the whole way through? As I was initially gonna use pvc pipe and just put some equally spaced "cookies" of wood to give the 3 inch diameter pvc pipe some structural support on inside...but if just get some 4x4 lumber and trim it down to the diameter I want...maybe I can save some money on pvc pipe... Thoughts?
