Wood Turning Maybe My Best Dizzy Bowl Ever
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I think this might be my best Dizzy Bowl to date. It has a very cool tornado bowl effect. It is a real twister for sure. I set out to have a low bowl with a lot of twist to it which takes thin layers or a much taller bowl. I think the lower profile gave the best look for this bowl.
Over 700 pieces and finished 11.25" diameter 3.75" tall. The wall thickness is 1/4 to 3/8 inches.
Segmented Dizzy Bowl
Finishes used:
Rust-Oleum Gloss Clear Specialty Lacquer Spray
Minwax Sanding Sealer
Minwax Polycrylic

Thank you so much. By all means try it. You can use any thickness for the layers but the thinner the more dramatic the look. For staring out you could try an easier version maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. That would be a good practice piece. I think the ones I did here were 3/16 thick. So much thinner for sure. Best of luck and feel free to ask any questions you might have. Gary

Papa: I've watched a lot of woodturning videos and I've been thoroughly impressed with your channel. Woodturning, like most creative activities, involves skill and art. Beautiful bowl. Just one suggestion. The high gloss finish gives the appearance of plastic. A slightly lower gloss would allow the beauty of the wood to show more than the reflections.
