Wood Spirit Sophia
Ойын-сауық
I’m back in my enchanted forest to release another wood spirit from her barky prison!
I’m pretty new at this chainsaw carving stuff but am really enjoying the learning process. I hope you enjoy!

And on the other side of the tree, a flowing mane of hair. Thanks for your time, adding a bit of fresh air to the day.

Rod, Most happy I am that you have been able to find, and induce to reveal herself, Sophia. Wife of Waldemar. Sprite of the forest. Guardian of trees. Keep the aspidistra flying! God bless Paul
Practice Practice Practice. She looks good. Keep that artistic blood moving.

Well, I think she's lovely. A woman not to be trifled with! You're giving those dead trees something to be proud of. They must be the envy of the treeborhood!
I always enjoy watching the face appear on the side of the tree. It's so cool. Great work!

That's a nice change of pace for ya, MSgt Humphrey. I like the tree carving. SUGGESTION: For your next tree carving, how about doing the mug of a Marine Devil Dog. Semper Fi

Good evening, Marine. The wind cooperated with your project nicely. Early in the roughing I thought you refueled with jet fuel. Just fast forward but surprised me. She is a respected lady. A lady of wisdom. I like that. Well done. Time to give that upper body a rest. GB + SF

That's unbelievable that you can do that in the woods . She is beautiful
She IS very stern indeed, but even watching her come to life before my eyes it's hard to believe one could create something so beautiful with chainsaws!

You know, the way you create such a natural, flowing transition from trunk to sculpture, you remind me of Michelangelo. When asked how he made all those masterpieces, he answered: "Oh, I don't really do anything. They are trapped inside the marble slab and I just help them free themselves!" By the way, Sophia is the Greek word for Wisdom. What a becoming name for the Lady of the Woods! Also, thank you for the excellent music choice!

She is beautiful. As usual your workmanship is outstanding. But you should have moved her around the tree a bit so they could see each other. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and remember, when the chain is roaring, the safety gear comes on.🙂🙂

Mr H , Good Morning ! Your tree spirit is neat. Have you ever cut a long slab from a tree and see any spirits in it ? All trees do not have them. Take Care Be Safe. 😊

funny you'd ask, but yes... I've seen some amazing faces in some re-sawn logs that were slabbed. 😊

Rod KB again🤪😇 I really liked the way my routing of my bowl and resin turned out. ? What router do you use and do you have a plunger attached? I used my small handheld and it was kinda iffy 🤔 It was fun though and I’m gonna do some more. Thanks for your help Buddy! Fire in the Hole! Mate 🐸🔱⚓️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Hey, brother, I'm glad things went well. Yep the full size routers will offer more stability for sure. I use a Porter Cable (standard) and a Craftsman Professional with plunging. Most of my routing has been done without the plunging, but I do both and don't really have a preference. Either way you have to set your depth, though with the plunger it may be a bit steadier initial plunge. Fire for Effect! 😁

Fire for Effect! I love it! Haven’t heard that in awhile🤪🤣 Thanks for the quick response and I’ll start looking for a router with a plunger. I kinda figured it would help out and be safer. Keep up the awesome work Bother! 🐸🔱⚓️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 KB out

Rod, I’ve watched a couple of your videos where you used a router to cut designs in platters/ bowls. Beautiful work! I tried one myself today. It turned out ok but I have some questions, if you don’t mind? What router would you suggest? How deep? And what size bits? Also, I noticed that you wear a dive watch? I know you with the Corps Where you in recon? Thanks for all your videos and help! Still learning!🤪🤣 KB out 🐸⚓️🔱🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Hey, KB, thank you for watching my videos! For the router, I don't have a preference on brands. For the router bit, I use usually use a 7/16" long 1/8" straight bit, and I max out that depth the full 7/16". This allows for a 1/8" mortise and 1/16" of leeway on the interior bowl bottom for material removal, leaving a nice 1/4 inch final thickness. Hope that helps! Actually, I have a couple Seiko Sharp Edge GMT watches and the bezels are for alternate time zones. Handy for travel. The others are Chronograph watches because I'm a racing fan... F1 mostly. In the Corps, I was an Infantry Marine for over 20 years... I see your trident... SEAL? Thanks again, KB!
