Wood Spirit Waldemar I
Ойын-сауық
Fun in the woods with a chainsaw or two. From a mysterious door to a giant pencil and a wood spirit or two, my forest trail is becoming an adventure.
Waldemar the First (pronounced with a V sound and named by my momma) is about 11 feet off the ground at the top of his head.
Chainsaw carving is something I'm relatively new to, so you probably don't want to follow my example, lol.
In this video I use a couple chain saws, one gas and one battery powered, as well as an angle grinder and die grinder. I also used a 6-foot scaffold and various safety equipment.
I love working with wood, and I love a challenge to my creativity. I hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching!

I logged on and what did I see, Rod pruning a tree. A beautiful face he carved with the skill of a saw. Not to get stumped he powered on, occasionally stopping to enjoy a Root beer in the shade. When he was finished and ready to leave, he heard a quiet bark off in the distance. Just the neighbors dog (wood) being knotty. As Edgar sauntered by, he looked at this masterpiece carved on his tree and declared my the Forest be with you.❤ 🌳 🌲 🧌

To watch your eyes, mind and hands work through the tip of the chanesaw and to see the end carving was beautiful mate. Thank you Rod.🤠 We are still watching down under.

I was thinking "Let's Danse!" The wood sprites in gauzy gowns, dancing around the spirit tree! The Shide at play.
Absolutely stunning! And a great use of Danse Macabre! Or Dance Macabre. Whichever language. I LOVE the tree sprite as a wise spirit of the forest! The tales he could tell! God bless, and, to honor your service, Semper Fi! Thank you for sharing this art work!

That sculpture is awesome! Amazing work!
First a giant pencil, and now Wood Spirit Waldemar. This carving is a nice one. I've seen other videos on a much smaller scale where the wood artist carved Wind Spirits into bird houses. Now you have e a wood spirit keeping an eye out on all your trees. Semper Fi🎉

Loved the musical choice. Might I offer a suggestion - or two? Your Viking needs a helmet - and horns, cuz all Vikings have horns on their helmets, don’cha’know? He’s a nice little (?) character, and you seem to have a talent for this. Perhaps there is a Green Man, a fairy or two, a sprite, a Wood Witch, a Lady of the Lake? Or even a Lady from the Crick? Look forward to seeing more of this adventure 😊.

A person must have a vision in their mind as to what they want it to look like. That vision has to remain in their mind as they a cutting. I see it but it changes to a hot dog or school bus, I can’t keep the vision. Fantastic job.

Good morning, Rod. Oh, I love the sound of chainsaws in the morning. I have been cutting brush earlier this week. The only art left is a pile of wet ashes. Your art was exciting to watch and created from a precarious perch. An arsenal of cool carving tools, a guy does need tools. Enjoyed the Forest Symphony with the chainsaw background. The video showed moments of decision making which is very nessecary with a project of this scale and location. Nicely done! A wonderful morning surprise. God Bless. Semper Fi

Thank you, Trey! I have a bunch of standing dead ash trees, some broken off and some not, due to the Emerald Ash Borer beetle that is quickly killing them all. Sad to see it happen. I won't carve on any live trees 😊
That is so cool, looks great 👍👍

Rod, I would imagine that in a year or two that is going to be a very interesting patch of forest 😜. A wonderful bit of music to accompany the chainsaw. I don’t recognize it but it sounds very Edvard Grieg ish. Keep the aspidistra flying! Semper fi. God bless, Paul

That was so very cool. I've always wanted to try something like that but never have because I'm chicken. Did you get any kick-back from the saws?

Thank you! It did kick back a couple times in a minor way, mostly because of the standard fat bar and chain... and operator error. Overall a smooth event though. It's pretty fun 😊
