Mike makes some fire starters and takes his Swedish torch fire log to the woods to do some outdoor cooking. Come along for a quiet and relaxing time and judge for yourself if he has what it takes to cook a good meal over a campfire.

If Pearl doesn’t make you smile, something is wrong with you! Love that little gal!
One wonders who was happier, Pearl's nose telling her there was a steak to be shared in that smoke, or Mike cooking knowing she'd let everyone know when it was ready at his feet....🐾
Pearl looked pretty happy in her chair with her blanket, but she is just like our Golden Chase when he smells steak cooking he comes looking for his share. They are great family. Glad you had a great day outside cooking.

Pearl can count like my old dog. She knows you had four steaks old man, now cough em up. We're out under the stars at present in far away West OZ soaking up the serenity with a steak and beer. Really appreciate your program and lifestyle. All the best from the desert west.
You finally made something I could actually get close to replicating. Lovely video.

It's amazing, I see the peace, you and my dog
Amazing wood carving
ive only ever cooked one thing over an open fire...pancakes. those suckers were FANTASTIC. not sure if it was the cast iron, the fact that it was over an open fire, or just plain being hungry that made it taste so good
Pearl is so darn funny and cute 😂 that log stove is the best have you ever made stew that way with dry meat wild onions , potatoes, wild mustard , garlic and mushrooms all found in the wilderness I bet it would make a hearty stew but great video thanks for sharing
There’s always something really satisfying (if I may borrow your phrase) about watching your videos. The “day” always seems better.

That's the only way to cook when you can . We usually have a couple of fish dinners like that out on the ice during the winter . Like you said everything tastes better outside . But we still don't have any ice on the lakes . Glad to see Pearl has her own directors chair now lol .

Yes, even burnt food tastes good out there, haha! I'm surprised you don't have iced over lakes after that cold front that came down. It's been a real mild winter down here, so far. No ice here either. The cold font missed us completely.

@@StinnettSticks Normally it's minus -25 here this time of year but it's been 20 degree's and up . Even a friend of mine in Yellowknife said it's usually minus-50 up there right now and it's been minus 15 , 20 . A lot warmer everywhere .
wow amazing shelter survival
Thanks for sharing Mike beautiful place, Pearl's getting into everything like usual 😂 I've never seen anyone do that with a log n use it to cook ✌something Im going to try out for sure, everyday is a school day.

Hi there, Mike, This video really made me smile. All you have to do with my steak when you cook it, is to knock off the hoofs and the horns and just sear it for a minute on the outside. I love my meat rare, or at the very worst, medium rare. (^_^) Today was the first time I ever heard Pearl bark. She sounded so cute and really seems to love her piece of steak. And yes, there is nothing nicer than having a "braai" (bbq) out in the boonies. You cooked that meat just the way we do in South Africa....except yours was overcooked....Lol I hope you are enjoying this New Year and I was happy to see you enjoy your food in the forest. It's lovely and cold here in Saint Louis. Warm hugs and love to you in Christ Jesus. Liz. xoxo
