I Stayed On A DESERTED ISLAND For 24hrs and what I discovered was DISGUSTING...

Ойын-сауық

I spent 24 hours alone on a deserted tropical paradise island, making fire from scratch, foraging for food, and sleeping in the trees. It was an incredible 24 hours but what really disappointed me was the amount of man-made waste. The beach was littered with trash and various other things washed up and buried amongst the decomposed coconuts, leaves, and driftwood. Was it pure survival? Not really, as I did bring some basic food supplies but the addition of the fallen coconuts provided me with an alternative method of cooking up some sticky rice and also gave me some fresh drinking water. The weather for my 24 hours alone was HOT, around 36 degrees Celcius (100 degrees Fahrenheit). With a little sea breeze and a couple of swims in the water, I was able to keep my body temperature down.If there's one thing I wish you all to take away from this video then it is this…..please limit the amount of plastic you use and please, please, please, RECYCLE as much of it as possible!

If you clean that island you should first clean the ocean, because if you clean the island probably the next day there will be a new load of litter washed up by the oceans current, I did the same when i was in Thailand I cleaned the beach and the next day it was full of rubbish again.

@@LunchMeatTrump Not according to the experts; under dire survival situations where your body hasn't had plentiful food and water, any thing can go straight through you. The behind the scenes of the American survival show Alone showed those that stayed almost too long in a starving situation, had to eat minimal quantities of food to slowly wake the gut up. This was true at the death camps in Germany when the Americans liberated them: doctors told the soldiers to not give the prisoners food, because they would need a medically guided diet for recovery. Finally, it will depend on your personal physiology. Cheese is a notorious food for causing constipation, while too much can go through my family's GI tract at lightning speed.

@@Objective-Observer Lol just do a simple search and every single site will tell you ''only if you drink too much''. Where did you get your facts? A link would be helpful. Everything I have looked up states that many can even still hydrate with it while already having diarrhea, just not a lot of it in one day. Now if you are talking about being in the brink of death where literally anything can act like a laxative and pass through you quickly, sure, but that is a kinda pointless statement.

@@LunchMeatTrump You can believe any random internet link you want; my sources were survival experts who spoke with doctors; and there was more than one expert who said this. My first introduction was the show Survivor in the tropical islands where their MEDICAL DOCTORS WARNED THEM TO NOT DRINK THE COCONUT MILK, BECAUSE IT WILL CREATE DIARRHEA AND EXACERBATE THEIR DEHYDRATION. I took that with a grain or two of salt, but I've since then read other survival experts say the same thing. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here, maybe you are talking about the Commerical Coconut milk that is more chemicals than the raw stuff. If you want to drink raw Coconut Milk, no one is stopping you. You can drown yourself in it, I don't really care.

In my youth we visited a small island several times. The friend who took me out there had been a regular visitor previously. He had discovered numerous washed up tug ropes (synthetic) on the beaches, and had unraveled them. He brought the cordage back into the interior and constructed a suite of tightly woven spider webs up in the multi-stemmed trees (Ailanthus?) These were more than hammocks: some of them were tight, flat, and bigger than queen-sized beds. They were totally secure. We would sit in the platforms at night and shine powerful flashlights at the ground, illuminating the scurrying rats that infested the island. My friend said he had, on occasion, brought a .22 rifle out there, but not while I was there. We took rocks up into our perches, throwing them down upon the rats. No rats were harmed during those camp outs. Not while I was there, at least.

An isolated island in the andaman sea with coconut rice and a kabob. sadly while it is understandable that SOME trash would wash ashore, the pure volume speaks libraries worth on how much trash we put into the waters... Even when I go canoeing on the local rivers or trail riding in my Toyota, I try to make a point of taking an extra garbage bag with me and hauling out at least one bag of other folks trash. It is never enough. Keep up the great videos, and have a great new year man.

Amoung others, I regularly watch a similar channel called Field Days, Aussie guy doing fishing and bushcraft stuff out in Bali, and he regularly shows himself, sometimes with whatever gf he's with, cleaning up the man-made waste on the beaches there. Sometimes he makes use of it to make a shelter, find something to make/hold water or start a fire with but man is it filthy. He can collect up to half a dozen bin liners full on his way home and it doesn't look like he's even scratched the surface. Odd flip-flops(thongs), old lighters, plastic bottles and drink cartons, old twine and rope etc, it makes you realise how much rubbish we make. And I say this as the council never collected our communal bins over the holidays, to the point my kid just got stinky taking my rubbish out for me when he opened the door to where they're kept and it was piled so high that some fell out so, being conscientious, he picked it all up again and stacked it how it should have been stacked by idiots who can't be bothered. Plastics are just a fact of life but for goodness sake, dispose of trash sensibly, don't just throw in on the floor or worse, into the ocean/sea, folks. Field Days showed a vid of him swimming in the ocean once and that spot was like the garbage shoot scene from Star Wars. Hope you didn't have to swim in any, Dustin.

Two possible sources for all that debris and rubbish. One: it was deliberately thrown into the sea, by ignorant and uncaring individuals, over the side of passing ships. I used to refurbish bottling plant, mainly for Coke. Surprisingly areas of Africa and former russian states still use refundable style bottles which are washed and reused.

There are ways to be sensible about it. A local store that sells bath and body wash items uses recyclable shampoo for example. You buy your first bottle, when it's empty they just refill it from huge vats. That way you only even use one bottle.

So wonderful to revisit this classic. Unfortunately a lot of islands in the region have trash filled beaches due to the junk that washes up because of what's just tossed out into the see. Let's hope we can all return to Thailand soon, Jan and Feb 2020 seems so long ago before the rest of that year turned sour. ❤👍

It'd be great if everyone would pack out double what they pack in regarding trash. Then we'd begin to curb the overrun. But using less plastic is the best way to alleviate the mass contamination of Nature. Best wishes to us all ❤️ Be smart, stay safe ✌️😎

there certainly was a lot of plastic waste indeed, but all I could think of is what an amazing amount of potential building materials. You've seen those "Earthship" buildings, using plastic bottles as building materials, creating these mosaic lighting walls and such. I could envision a channel where you use all the crap you find washed up onto the island and re-purpose it by building an amazing living space using all those bushcraft skills you've developed over the years. Then after you have scoured the island's beaches and cleaned up all the debris, you'd begin building this island inspired camp while waiting for the next series of high tides to see what useful items were deposited on the shores for use in your new domicile!

You know it makes sense and I have heard stories about similar things but seeing it through your eyes it is hard to ignore the reality of the trash situation in the world. Paradise has a beach filled with bottles and cans and hunks of rope. Useful to a stranded soul maybe but not really good for any other reason. Maybe this year can be better than the last.

One good thing about the trash is that if anyone get stranded on desert island will have plenty stuff to help him survive. Things like bottles can give you drinking water from sea water. From ropes you can make nice hammock, with old nets you can fish or make lobster and crab pots. Or even can make raft with plastic bottles and ropes
