Underrated superstar, quiet achiever. 1 WR, 3 OR, the most medalled athlete of the Tokyo Olympics. I hope history will give due credit to her accomplishments.

Pretty sure most medalled athlete was Dressel at the Tokyo Olympics. Caeleb Dressel - 5 Golds. Emma McKeon - 4 Gold, 3 Bronze. Even though McKeon won 2 more medals than Dressel, on the individual medal tally Dressel will be ranked higher as the first variable to affect the ranking is the number of golds won (not the total number of medals won) and Dressel won 1 more gold than McKeon.

@@eugenedebbs2189 This is not fair to say so. Let's take one example, Dressel and Mckeon should have had 7 medals to compare fairly. Dressel, as a matter of fact, got 5 golds and wouldn't top the podium in 2 other events, medalless, basicially. Looking from this aspect, that's why Mckeon is the most decorated swimmer of this Olympic.

Australia. We are large in land size but low in population. As an Aussie, I am constantly amazed at our swimming achievements. All the world's swimmers have to do 4AM wake-ups, schooling or work, then be at afternoon training. I know, as I was a single parent juggling swimming, cooking, driving, etc demands. My sons' (now parents) are quality Men and are acheivers. And, as a plus, could rescue a person in trouble in water better than a non-swimmer.

The fastest swimmer in the semis gets one of the middle lanes, and as you go out further both ways you usually get slower swimmers. However this isn't always the case, as the US fielded a much weaker team in the semis of the men's 4x100 medley relay (and got a slower time) so they were in lane 8 for the finals, but then had a much stronger team in the finals and won.
