REI's Force of Nature initiative is working to level the playing field in the outdoors. As part of the initiative, REI awarded grants to groups across the country to put on events focused on getting women into the outdoors.
The Ice Age Trail Alliance protect the National Scenic Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin and is a recipient of grant money from the Force of Nature. This was the first event they held in Wisconsin to encourage women to get out and hike the trail. The event included a 4 mile hike and finished with a farm to table meal cooked on bluff next to the trail.
