Boy uses umbrella to prevent elevator door from closing, causes free fall

For more:
www.cgtn.com/video
A #boy put his umbrella's handle between #elevator doors to prevent it from closing in Fuzhou City, east China's Jiangxi Province. But suddenly the elevator closed and went into free fall while breaking the umbrella handle. The lift stopped at the 25th floor, holding the boy captive. Fortunately, the rescue team arrived in time and saved the boy.

You can’t just say it’s reliable without stating facts to support why it is, otherwise nobody will believe you... They don’t tell you the full story, so that you get angry and attack whoever or whatever they want you to attack, and then they can report on the drama. For example, The spanish american war was started by yellow journalism (although the war was unintended), the newspapers were saying outrageous things to try and get more readers, and one of those things was an accusation of Spain blowing up the USS Maine, which was believed by most Americans, forcing the US to declare war.

@Gogito 875 well in physics what does free fall means? Accelerating towards the Earth due to gravitational acceleration right ? A life works on controlled descent. It's not a free fall as the tension on the ropes and the pulley system lowers the box at a controlled speed. But when the umbrella got stuck it caused the lift cables to loose tension and fall on it's own due to gravitational acceleration and the elevator's mass. There was no controlled force acting on the elevator to control the descen. But lifts have emergency braking systems in case this happens or the cables snap. And it brought the lift to a slow halt by adding friction to the railings through brakes and thus preventing the elevator from hitting the floor. So the frictional force is greater than the weight of the elevator so technically it's at a state of free fall stuck on the 25th floor.

I work with elevators all the time, I can pretty much tell you what happened here. The kid held the door open for so long that it "timed out". Meaning it was gonna close and reset "no matter what was blocking it". After closing the elevator would do 1 of 3 things: - stop at the midway point between the highest and lowest floors - go to the main lobby - sit there until it figured out what floor it was on. That elevator didn't drop. Speed looked normal to me. Lesson to be learned here is never try and stop the doors by putting something in between them. If that was his arm, this would be a different story.

The lift started moving as the doors closed enough for safety to connect. The lift started moving and when the umbrella hit the top it forced the doors open and broke safety leaving the lift stuck. The lift didn't freefall. Saying it free falled is very inaccurate and is unacceptable. Also if it freefalled it would have gone upwards because the lift is under half capacity.

It's really odd because this channel is run by the Chinese government (like any other business in China is pretty much an extension of their government) and China actually does have problems with their elevators failing and free-falling because things there are made cheaply or with cut corners (search "tofu dreg construction") and China goes out of its way to cover these things up. I guess every now and then something slips through the cracks.

JESUS CHRIST died for you on a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and was, is, and will be The TRUE LIVING GOD. In a prayer repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and also ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer as well. Have FAITH in CHRIST. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you have to become new, change, and be born again, and turn away from all wicked ways. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God Bless You. JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK SOON.
